Great video Dave. I have found that the Trangia triangle with an extra sprite burner makes for an excellent 2nd burner for the 25 or 27. When you have 2 pots, a frypan, and a kettle, a second burner comes in handy. It folds flat and can slip right in a 25 or 27 bag. Keep making Trangia cooking videos, and I'll keep watching them (and trying the recipes myself). Thanks!

I bought my Trangia 27 in 1977, so that makes it about 46 years old and still going strong. I also have a 25 and 28. I rarely use the 25. I mainly use the 28 for day trips and the 27 for camping. A useful add on to the 28 it the Vargo aluminium windscreen which fits neatly inside the 28. A must have for the 27 if you want to increase capacity is the Trangia Billy 125-2.5 L which is exactly the right size to fit the 27 inside.

Alcoholburner can use different sorts of alcohol. Ethanol burns with a yellow flame & soting. Methanol burns with a invisibil flame and no sot. A 50/50 mixture of methanol & ethanol burns with a blue flame & little to no soting. In Sweden it can be bought outdoor shops and boating shops. 1 Kemetyl Tenol, 2 Octanol.

Good vid Dave. Yeah, a non stick frying pan is the way to go. With a little love and care, it'll last a good while. The hard anodised gear is a good option but you might still have “sticking egg” issues. Use enough oil and keep the burner low. Have used my 27 a lot but also like the small 28 on which I’ve cooked for two. A good addition we’ve found is using Trangia saucepan lids. Helps cook food up quicker or to aid simmering. Also their aluminium plates. On the the 27 one will ‘snap’ over the frying pan by placing it on the open pan supports. The effect is a bit ‘oven like’. If you haven’t already, a good channel to look into-“Off the beaten pot” created by a guy called Tom. Anyway, cheers for sharing your tips and jaunts in the country 👍

Good morning Dave. I've only got the trangia 27, which you made me buy last year haha when I first started to get into camping and I'd subbed to your channel (September 2021). As I'm a single camper I don't think I'd buy a trangia 25 as I'm happy with the 27. I do take my hard anodised fry pan and grips sometimes with my jetboil minimo, seems to work well (it also cuts off 300g of weight). I think the trangia came out in 1925 so maybe the 27 came out in 1927 and so on, just my thoughts and I'm probably wrong, but it's the only thing I can think of lol 😆. You sure you don't have shares in trangia lol? 😂. Nice to see them all together though. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you on your next video/adventure 🤟 🤙 😀

hey mate! Loved the video, quite thorough. Since you're in the UK I'd strongly suggest you try out the Endurance Lava 400 Stove. Long name, but it's just a Trangia 2.0. It is fully anodized, and thus stronger/healthier, the pot gripper has a spring so you can use it more easily and also use it as Tongs. The simmer adjuster has a handle, which has been asked for to Trangia for ages. The upper windscreen has vent holes, so you can literally use any pot with it if you want, and it won't smother the flames. The Gas stove hole is now a mouse-door style, instead of a whole - making it much easier to use a remote stove. With the Trangia it's annoying to feed a stove through the hole. I can't buy it since from the UK the shipping costs + import taxes just make it inacessible, though You should imho! There's also a discontinued Robens Cookery King pro which had a pot holder adjustable in height, and a whole to use the simmer acessory without removing the pot or pan. And the pro Version came with a Cutting board. I love the idea of the simmer adjustments on the fly and will most likely order one from wherever I find one. PS: I found a Trangia for 40€ for sale (usually 69€) and bought that. not even knowing which model it was, just that it was a bargain LOL. Has the kettle and everything.

@@bushcraftdavetrangia for cooking at camp definitely duossal as it behaves like normal steel pans. But they are heavier. I find HA to be way more durable than nonstick while offering similar performance to duossal in nonstick. I want my 27 to be as light as possible though so i wouldnt want that in duossal, even though its probably the superior model in terms of heat spreading due to their smaller diameters. Both are much better in terms of usability and material strenght though and offer much better nonstick qualities in comparison to the base model. Nonstick itself works best but i wouldnt ever buy the saucepans with it again. Its too easily damaged. I love my 27 HA best for being an all rounder. The 25D is a mobile kitchen to me (which i expanded with the triangle and additional burner, making it a dual burner system to me.)

@@roosterlab6040 the base UL aluminium series are great. They dent a bit more easily but since they are cheap, who cares. Especially if most you do is boil stuff its fine. HA is better for general stuff because you could even season it. I actually use my mess tin mini the most, with the triangle tucked inside. I even modded it with a hole for a steam vent and a double sided handle in the lid so i can sit the lid on the pan and the wood handle means i can fully close it now without it being a pressure vessel nor burning my vingers, boosting performance. I just love how neat and compact this kit is.

An epic comparison and a must watch for those who are at the first encounter with the Trangia cooking sistem and cannot decide which one to buy. Now that I finally got my T25-4 today and thus the circle is complete (I have the 25-4, 27-3 and the 28T), I got the answer for an issue no one talked about: do the kettles fit the other sistems? I mean does the small kettle stand on the 25 windshield and vice versa? Well, not quite. The small kettle stands pretty well on the 25 windshield but it does on the edges of the pot holders. While the large kettle barely fits in the 27's windshield and stands on the upper part of the holders and is totally unstable. So maybe you'll make a video or mention it in a future one about this small, but perhaps important issue. Because before I bought the 25 one, I had been thinking about this compatibility between the kettles and the stoves and I really couldn't decide whether to buy the large kettle or not. And luckily I did. Maybe it was a waste of money, maybe not. Time will tell. P.S.: I knew this video long before I even bought the T27 (my first Trangia was the Mini, then the 27) but I waited till I got the big one to answer myself the question). Cheers!

Trangia's first storm kitchen became the twenty-fifth item that the company has produced, or is producing. Trangia 23 was the twenty-third product. Trangia 27 and 28 were thus the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth Trangia products respectively. Some model numbers have expired and a new product may have been given the old number. That explains the Trangia's seemingly different model numbering system.
