Comparison On Trangia 25, 27, Mini Trangia 28 & Triangle

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to choose the right Trangia stove? This comparison and guide could help You to get the right one for You! Please comment on Your experiences. I saw that Paul Bisseker made a comparison on the 25 & 27, this could be seen as an complement to his video that is the first on the subject as far as we know.

Thanks for your comment on this! Yes I know, I actually was into buying one of those due to the low weight and of curiosity. Find I harder to find fuel though than alcohol, gas, whiregas and kerosene though so I have skipped it so far. Do You have one of those and find it as a good complement?

Mattias Eriksson I have one, mainly for use with esbit tabs, but it can also be used with hand sanitizer or anything else that burns, it's very light, solid fuel can be stored inside it. It's ok but not as high power output as the regular spirit burner and doesn't burn as long. I guess it could be good in the summer and when clean water is easy to find, for a long journey when carrying other fuels would be too heavy.

What a fantastic comparison, one of the best I've come across yet. Thanks so much! And what a beautiful setting too! I bought a military surplus Trangia stove and windscreen kit, and I think the diameter of the stove is different from these models. I've been looking at getting a new set, seems the 27 is best for two people backpacking....that like to eat! Thanks!

Thanks for Your kind comment A Smith! I hoped it could be useful to get a feeling of sizes. If You like to cook for 2p the 27 with the kettle is a great choise. If you want to cook at other moments than backpacking and for a few more you can complement with a Trangia 2,5l billy pot. The stove fits nice I that oot. I have some videos that shows this as well. Happy trailing!

i've been collecting trangias since the 1980's and have a lot of them, some i bought new, most were bought at swap meets and estate sales from people who didn't understand what they were so they didn't cost a lot of money back then. the 25 and 27 are absolutely the best cooking systems for windy conditions, the 28 is good if you surround it with a simple foil windscreen. my personal favorite is the 25 with duossal pans, i also have a 27 with duossal pans but i tend to use the 25 more because it's slightly larger size makes it easier to use. i also have 2 primus gas burners that fit the 25 and 27 and are nice to have in very cold weather, but i like the simplicity and quiet operation of the alcohol burners most of the time.

Hello Mattias, I have watched many of your videos on Trangia stoves. You explain the stove systems well. As a result I decided yesterday to get the 25-2 set up with kettle & alcohol burner. I also purchased the Trangia gas burner. I see the quality in the product. I was critical on the weight and bulk with you on another post. Thanks for responding to my comment. I plan to use the Trangia 28 for day hike/picnic, base camping, canoe camping, and winter sled camping (where weight and bulk is not so crucial). I spent a summer in Sweden in 1985. I have many great memories of my time in Sweden. Keep up the videos. You for sure help people motivate to being in the outdoors.

and there is also the Trangia military model... no matter what, they are all great, a real classic that has been working and working for such a long time because the design was already quite optimal... I like these stoves because they are super simple, with no moving parts, and also use a very cheap fuel. You cannot make anything wrong choosing one! I've been using the 27-3 alcohol most of the time, but now I might buy the gas adapter to have another alternative, since in some protected areas you are not allowed to use liquid fuel. Trangia is not just a stove, it is also part of a swedish outdoor tradition that produced many classics. In my patagonian fishing cabin there was always a Primus 96, and on the boat we cooked on a Radius 20, to the mountains I took a Svea 123 (still in use since 1954), and nowadays I go around with my Trangia and Moras...

The duossal is great. Easy to clean. I have a video where a make pancakes on the 25 duossal that you can see. No sticking att all. Season the pan like you do with a normal pan in the kitchen. Heat it up and oil it. Then dry off, after that it will work great att all trips. I have a Trangia 24cm nonstick frypan as well, that fits rather snug to the 25. It's deeper and easier to cook on for groups. The 4,5 litre billypot fits really snug with the 25 stored inside it (as the 2.5 litre billypot do with the 27). Regarding the video... when I did this video, Trangia was not really involved in social media from their own side. Very odd to be such a iconic brand for outdoor cooking. I visited the factory and office during a vacation with my RV. A small family company and it looked like time was standing still. Trangia has a very nice staff and among the Malin Bergman works who i met at my visit. Very service minded! But looked to be rather alone with office work, marketing etc. She is a member of the users Facebook group and answer on all kind of questions. Today a couple of years later than my visit, they have started their own webshop, started a instagram flow and fb flow. Last week they opened a factory shop and museum! At my visit they had a shelf with second sorting outlet and like a small hidden exhibition in the office. I think this is really cool and I like the company that have survived without hyping them selfes. Now they have started to work in shift and bought new machines during 2020 due to the high demand word wide. Outdoor activities has grown alot, something that I like. Better than stuck in sofa ☝️😁😂.

I went for the 25 for motorcycle and car camping. I was initially hesitant between the 25 and the 27, but went for the 25 because 1) I like to have room to mess around :-) 2) want enough capacity for 2 hungry persons (might get the mini as well if I see the 25 is overkill for me alone) 3) the packed volume difference between 25 and 27 doesn't really seem to be significant for car/motorcycle camping. I thought it could too large for motorcycle camping, but I don't think it'll be an issue and, again, can get the mini if it's a problem. I agree that the only point that matters when choosing between the 25 and 27 is weight for backpacking. I decided not to get the kettle right away. I don't think it's really necessary when you can boil water with one of the pots with the pan used as lid. The space saved inside will be used for carrying cooking utensils and/or recurring ingredients like oil, salt, pepper, coffee, etc.

Most important is to "season" the pans and control heat. HA works better than UL. It feels like semi nonstick. I have used the Trangia 24cm pan (foldable handle) with nonstick which is a great complement to the 25. It sounds like we should have a comparison between the two 😂👍

Thank you! I recently got the set with all HA except for the frying pan, which is non stick. The coating is already coming off where I use the pot gripper. I am worried long term about the coating. I think I will replace the pan in the future. Both Doussal and HA plans are hard to come by at the moment in the US. I feel like Duossal will always be hard to find.

hey bud you may be the perfect guy to ask this question seeing as you have all the trangia sets. I was wondering if the frying pan/lid of the trangia 28-t mini would fit on one of the trangia 27 pots. Either the inner or outer cooking pots. From looking at measurements online one would think they would. This would allow me to take a smaller setup but still have a more practical boiling pot

I’ve been looking at Mini 28T but felt having watched this video that maybe the Triangle might offer better wind protection than the Mini base unit. I guess it won’t fit inside the 28T? Hi, the Triangle is a better stand and also works with the gasburner. I have moded both these stands though zo all burners fits. No, the Triangle does not fit in the T28. But it fits into the 1,4 litre kettle or 209 mess tin. The T28 is so neat and functional kit, i can really recommend it. Without lee it draw fuel though. The Triangle is great to have in combo with the T27 kettle and keep other stuff in the kettle than the triangle. I always take my T28 of all my kits as a grab to go, when volume and weight matters. Happy trails Stuart!
