The "MONACO Calibre 11" is infinitely beautiful!

This Iconic watch grew on me, with its stunning looking dail. For me its one of the biggest names out there the ( Monaco) its a real statement having this badboy on your wrist. Calibre 11 wins it for me by far Heuer rocks

Calibre 12 is for me. I ve seen it myself. The blue dial is much more eye catchy than the mat blue in calibre 11. No one would notice the minute differences but the royal blue is an eye turner.

Cal.12. I like this modern interpretation. Personally I think if it wasn’t for the success of the CS2110 and the CW2113 I’m not sure if cal.11 (CAW211P) would have even been produced. Apparently the original 1133 didn’t sell at the time and was discontinued after 4 years. I’m sure TH bore this in mind when they relaunched them in 1998.

I've bookmarked a Monaco that's more within my price range - it's the black faced, alligator strapped WAW131A.FC6177. I love the Monaco's look - the square case sets it apart from all others.

No need to hesitate, go for caliber 11, that’s nearest to original, just get it. Stunningly beautiful and classic, always looks elegant on your wrist. Btw just Heuer logo will do, anything more is just unnecessary.

Great comparison, great review, and love the web-site as well. Only nitpick didn't affect my appreciation of the review, but I'll never quite understand how so many watch reviewers and enthusiasts hate change. A 50 year-old watch is somehow automatically a good thing and any attempt to update it is blasphemy. It's not. It's a watch. I'll take the 12 -- better dial, like the contrast of the circular indices with the square case, but no hate for the 11. Also a great, great watch. All preference.

Thanks for watching, Andrew here. I don't mind change, love the new Bond watch with fake patina and also the TH Monza - based on classic designs but nicely updated. The real thing for me in this comparison was the dial. I much prefer the matte birds egg blue of the Cal11 to the sunburst of the cal12. Thanks for watching.

You only need the Cal 11. Got my McQueen 2015 when it was released with the cool box etc. and never looked back. Funnely had my on the wrist todays as the time changed so got ti admire it and also wondering how expensive one is today.. glad I had it for 7 years now

Another difference is that Calibre 12 has 80 hours of power reserve whereas the 11 has 40. I would still prefer the 11 because of the asthetics.

The 12 was featured in Breaking bad. So i instantly would choose that one.

Really torn between the Monaco caliber 11 and the Zenith El Primero Manufacture edition.

If I’m getting a Monaco, I’m getting the Gulf edition, for sure.

Heuer may have just won the race to the patent but the Zenith El Primero is a far, far superior movement. That said, I have a Tag Monaco Linear System which I love (the fact that the chronograph hour hand dropped off is a minor glitch). I also own an El Primero and it is the best....just ask Rolex, they used it in their Daytona’s for many years....high praise indeed!

The more I look at the two in vids and in the metal, and being completely honest, I have to say that: - the sunray blue of the Cal.12 is maybe just a bit too shiny, - the deep blue of the Cal. 11 is maybe just a bit too flat... Probably worthwhile to think out if the box and consider other colors, too.

...and how about the Monaco Calibre 6 (sans chronograph) for those who want a simper style - and lower price.

Calibre 11 captures the ethos of this watch perfectly. It's not suppose to be a dress watch

No tachymeter no race watch. Heuer poster 1969 said ‘ it is equally at home behind a glass of champagne as it is behind the wheel of a yacht’.

Top video, never knew about the difference

90% of watch fans prefer the cal 11. Why? Because it comes closer to the prototype? Is it a good reason to be so absolute about a watch? All famous watches come in many variations. Because it has a beter mechanism? I dont think there is a big difference in the mechanisms in those 2 watches. And if there is a difference most of us cant even notice it. As the nice guy in the video said, one is mostly casual the other is more dressy. And that can easily change with a different strap. Personally i find the colors of cal 12 more interesting and also the left side crown in cal 11 seems a little... out of place. Anyway i would like to place on the table a different point of view...

what legacy ? It was worn as a prop in a movie by an actor, who wore a Rolex in real life. If it wasn’t for Tag Heuer reissuing them they would have been long forgotten.

If you want to appreciate a racing legacy, get the Calibre 11. If you want to appreciate killing nine prisoners across different prisons in two minutes, get the Calibre 12.

My daily wear is the kirium chronograph. I still think it's the most beautiful watch I've ever seen, and it is freakishly accurate. I check it every three or four months and it's never more than two seconds off...

11 all the time. Just PURE class.

I had one of the original ones & UPS lost it!!!!!!!!! They only paid me for the re-issue! UPS should’ve ponied up & paid me the price for the original 1969/70 but they did not!

Why do you think they will become rare? Do you think people throw them away or they break or something? I think the numbers can only grow not shrink because they will always be issuing new versions of the watch which will dilute it in some way. However I think it is the choice range from Tag which usually produce watches that offer very poor investment... perhaps this is an exception.

The Calibre 11 is not faithful to the 1969 model, as the original has a 12-hour totalizer, whereas the new one only has a 30-minute totalizer. I would have bought one if the new one has a 12-hour totalizer.

The Archie one... it's the 'fuck you, get the hellouttamyway ya piece of shit' special Monaco edition in blue.

There is no reason whatsoever to take a TAG Heuer when you can get the Heuer. So much better watches in every way. And the CAL 11 is just something, that all watch nerds needs.

Sorry but Zenith El Primero was first to be presented to the public (i.e., they won!)..Zenith presented their prototype watches to the public a few months before Tag and Seiko did. Also, Zenith used (uses) a HIGH BEAT INTEGRATED COLUMN WHEEL movement, not an inferior cam operated modular chrono movement. The El Primero went on to win many awards and accuracy competitions and is still used in a similar carnation this very day (unlike the Heuer or Seiko movements). Enough said! Anyway, this watch is a beauty.

Watch Aficionado Bollocks. Zenith had only two (2!) semi-functioning prototypes and a local only press release. At this time Heuer had 100, all fully-functional, divided amongst the 4 developmental parties for testing. They (Zenith) were also the LAST to offer them to the public for sale. Seiko personally congratulated Heuer for winning the race! Both Heuer and Seiko registered U.S. Patents before Zenith. I absolutely love the El Primero as well, but they used sneaky tactics in both name and media to attempt to claim a win when they knew they were months behind in the race. 1. Heuer 2. Seiko 3. Zenith. Your argument neither holds water nor does it hold up in court.

I would buy one of those in a heartbeat. But wait, "The center chronograph needles on these prototypes do not work." WTF? Do you know what is up with that? Will they eventually work? Beautiful designs, thank you for putting it on my radar.

a perfect watch to wear when you ask someone to kill 12 prisoners in differebt prisons in less than 2 minutes....

The 11 is only about £500 more but I recently bought the 12, same as the one in this video for literally one reason... the box. The box which the 11 comes in has an orange racing stripe across the top which looks a bit silly where as the 12 just has a nice understated plain box.

The caliber on both watches are the same eta with dubois depraz module. Not a single resemblance of the original caliber 11

It’s an off the shelf SW300-1 I think with some minor finishing and a Depraz chrono module. That’s about it.

Buy a quartz copy which will tell time just as well , then take a holiday around the world with the money you save 🤣🤣🤣

Probably only me that thinks this is a very ugly looking watch.
