Japanese vs Korean. Which country is better? Each has its own distinct culture, economy, and social norms. Which passport offers more visa-free travel options? Which passport can grant you access to more destinations? Japanese passport is commonly selected as the no.1 ranked passport, or the so-called “best passport” or “strongest passport” in the world. But is it true? In this video, we challenge this assumption by compare the Japanese passport shoulder to shoulder with the Korean passport and see which one REALLY is better.

According to PASSPORT INDEX, Japan requires every other nationality a visa while Japan's global passport power is still ranked second. That's impressive. I think Japan began this policy because of the pandemic. Japan used to accept South Korean nationals without visas before the pandemic began.

As a Korean, it's only a question of money to get China and Mongolia visa. Russia is a completely different animal though. The Korean passport is sort of free pass at Russian checkpoints (they don't even bother taking a look) while visitors from other nations have to waste tons of time each and every time.

The russian e-visa is limited to Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Kaliningrad. You CAN'T leave those regions and you have to enter on airplane (maybe in Kaliningrad, for us europeans is more flexible on that but I don't know). A korean for example can visit wherever he wants in Russia, of course not taking into consideration those regions and cities which ask the tourist for a special permit wich is not always granted. However do you know who is the country that has 90 days visa free for China in Europe? San Marino, the oldest republic of the world located in the Rimini province in Italy. Chinese can go to San Marino visa free too. But since San Marino is an enclave in Italy the chinese tourist must land in the airport of Bologna or Rimini (I don't remember) get out of the airplane and enter a closed bus which brings him to San Marino and then back to the airport when it's time to come back.

No. this e-visa program does not limit the visitor to a single region. They can enter Russia via 16 airports, 6 seaports, and 18 land border crossings. Russia previously had a couple e-visa programs aimed at specific nations with more restrictions. Maybe you are referring to those.

Japanese passport holders could enter NK on organized tours, as most others could (pre c19). And since these tour groups only depart from China, it's actually easier for Japanese to join. Koreans are not allowed to join the tours

it's obviously the Japanese passport. It's one of the passports alongside the Singaporean passport and a few that I forget about can go to China without a visa. But both passports are the only two rich countries being able to go there without a visa, while the remaining countries with visa waiver to China are usually middle-incomed economy. Which is one of the rarest thing in the world. Since almost everyone in the globe needs a Chinese visa to enter China. China has more opportunities than Russia, because of how it's the 2nd largest economy in the world. People should consider not being discriminative towards Mandarin speakers. Later on Mandarin will become the new world language if the US has been fallen down on grace once more.

  • @PassportPlanet

Not sure if Mandarin will become the new world language. Even so, Malaysia's systematic discrimination against non-Malays will hardly change. What a waste of opportunity to have so many ethnic Chinese and not being able to grow talent to foster better relations with China. Singapore does it way better without sacrificing diversity.
