    He’s right the VS is way softer feeling and takes a hit or two to break it in. Wilson used to get its gut from France ie Babolat made it. It would say made in France on the string. That Wilson gut that was made in France is what Federer plays with. It doesn’t have the extra coating on it like the new ones have. I only will play with the Babolat VS natural gut because it is the premier gut you can buy even with the new bt7 coating. The price difference between the two is about a few dollars more for the VS $42.99 vs $39.99 on average so I rather spent the extra few dollars on the best gut you can buy. Just my preference though. To each their own.😊

    Great video for me as my shop only carries Babolat and I bring in my purchased Wilson gut which they are cool with. My understanding and experience trying both is Wilson has a tad more spin and pop, Babolot gut has more feel. But I’ve never tried full gut, I go hybrid gut/poly

    I found Babolat gut much crisper compared to Wilson. I know gut gets a bad rep because of its cost but considering the longevity and improved playability, I think it's the most optimal string if possible.

    I've used natural gut most of the time that I've played. First time was with my first racquet, a wooden Slazenger challenge one, with a full bed vs gut at around 50-55 lbs. I stuck with the full bed of gut when I moved to graphite frames but tended to string at a higher tension around 70 lb with 17 gauge VS gut in a Wilson 85 inch frame. These days I've been using the RF97 Autograph frame since it's release and using Wilson's champion choice 16 gauge with 59 lb gut mains and 56 lb lux crosses. I still prefer the VS gut to Wilson's or anyone else's that I've tried any day. Probably 6 or 8 years ago I tried out KLIP's natural gut string. It was preferential to synthetic gut but not in the same league in my opinion as the Wilson or Babolat. I did just get my frames restrung and didn't like the feel of them at all. I've been out of the game for a few years because of injuries and perhaps it's simply my imagination. Although this is the first time in about 15 years I've had someone else string my racket because my old stringer is gone. Not sure if it's the stringer or just my lack of picking up a frame for a while. I think I'm going to go back to a full bed of gut though for my next stringing and you can bet your bottom dollar it will be VS gut. ☮️

    Looking out for your review of the V-Cell 10 300g & 320g. The new beam is similar to a Pure Strike, just 0.5mm thinner at each point. If it's like a PS with a bit more feel, it could be very interesting.

    I use Wilson gut on the mains at 55 and luxilon alu power rough at 53 on the crosses in a Clash 98 and it feels significantly better than any straight poly set-up I've tried. A lot better touch, and just better pocketing all around, and more arm friendly after 3 sets than solinco confidential or luxilon 4g which were go to strings before.

    Hello Harry, you mention a break-in period, which I experienced to be true. But how about the pros when they change racket during a match? They get them out of a plastic wrap like they just been strung. No break-in period for them?

  • @lsee19
    @lsee193 жыл бұрын

    I have to disagree with Harry on there not being other viable alternatives. Klip and Pacific (If you can find it) make good natural gut. I've played with all of them, they have slight differences in feel and power levels. Klip (and maybe pacific) also make coated and uncoated versions of their natural gut. Klip is also cheaper by quite a margin as well

    Does Wilson (a Chicago company) actually make anything "themselves" anymore? Or do they contract the manufacturing out to other companies, and periodically change who is making their stuff (like Babolat) (they do own a bunch of brands they apply to products they have made by other manufacturers)?? Product consistency has changed many times with Wilson.

    I was using clash 100 and now looking for a racket with more control and keep improving my skills. I prefer flexy rackets and I’ve heard good things about head gravity, radical, speed MP. Do you have any suggestion regarding these three or even some other good rackets?

    The next step up is the Wilson Blade. Clash is the most flexible, Blade is next. Sure you can try different brands but the feel might be too drastically different. I love the Blade and I've tried them all. Of course hitting style is the most important factor. Stiffness Ratings: Wilson Clash (55) Wilson Blade (62) Head Gravity (60-62 depending on type) Head Radical (63-65 depending on type) Babolat Aero (67) Wilson RF97 (68) Babolat Pure drive (71)
