    I consider myself a beat maker but I do have skills with mixing. I don't lease beats and never really liked that model. I focus on making music for sync licensing. It has opened up my skills. I only use to make hip hop/rnb. Now since I get briefs for all types of music I can make Electronic, Pop, Orchestral, Atmospheric etc. It's funny because my Atmospheric music makes me more money overall because the songs usually play longer.

    I’m a producer-songwriter I think because I make custom songs and that has been my main bag. Starting to produce for other artists (and work on my own Lofi artist project). Finding it hard to decide what to focus on since I’m just starting so for me it’s been a time management learning curve. Love this video!! Isn’t talked about enough.

    I'm a production studio owner. I just opened a new studio about 4 months ago here in Rio de Janeiro. That presents issues because my ideal client is in the US. I owned a studio in Orlando for some years and recorded and produced for a number of artists there. So, I have engineering, song-writing and am releasing my own music as well in the hip-hop world. Marketing in general and especially internet marketing is my achilles heel, but I will learn it as I go I guess and add that to my knowledgebase.

    I have been an EDM producer and I got some attention, tracks played on well know radioshows and some decent streams but I almost never made money with it! Then I decided to become producer-songwriter so I can expand my creativity and I started to have some clients. I would recommend every producer to have some producer-songwriter skills so they can get better technically!

    As a full-time producer-songwritter-engineer, I completely agree with this video. My short insight is: the better you really are at doing A LOT of different things, being able to produce different genres, playing different instruments, etc, the closer you’ll be to make it in this business, because basically you’ll be fit to suit more artists than if you just do one thing, and therefore be more valuable.

    In over a decade you're the first person I've found talking about this. People always say "if your focusing on money you'll never make it." Everythings about money. It matters.

  • @darklabelmusic

    @darklabelmusic

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! Yeah it's sort of a tricky statement. I agree... Everything is about money. There's another statement... If you don't care about money then it won't care about you. So yes, on one hand, most of the people I've met who say "I don't care about money" are typically more controlled by money because they have to THINK about it more often on a day to day basis (since they have less of it). On the other hand, what the statement in this video refers to is more around mission and vision. If someone ONLY gets into music because they see it as a way to make money... They usually do not stick around long enough to make money because they very quickly realize that there are much "easier ways" to make money that aren't music. Hope that provides some clarity to anyone reading this.

    Well I dont agree with the edm producer. You can play in clubs and bars very early to get some fans and income. But to get the good income yes, it takes a while. Also many recording engineers say it is really not that fun to record bands, especially when youre starting out and record the unprofessional ones.

  • @paweltatar3425

    @paweltatar3425

    As an EDM producer you can also become a ghost producer for other artists but besides good production skills you need connections. In terms of recording engineering I'd personally disagree. I've done some band recordings and they're fun but can be challenging at times and require a lot of work.
