I'm not sure if I would claim that it makes window cleaning fun 🙂 but a window vac makes the job quick and easy.

For our shower screen, I use Bert’s bug windscreen cleaner. It’s a windscreen cleaner concentrate for cars. I live in Western Australia and our water is extremely hard and leaves our shower screens white with calcium build up. I had to clean a screen that hadn’t been looked after for 12 months and Bert’s got the screen clean. It’s the only product that has removed the build up completely. Now I use that just as the regular cleaning product for shower screens. For our main house windows I used to use windex which looks like your window cleaner product but now use dishwashing liquid and water instead and seriously love the results. Thanks for your review, it’s great seeing different products being tested side by side

I've literally just brought one of these, the V2, having just watched a review of the vacuum, I was wondering what cleaning solution to use with it? Then literally next up popped your video, perfect timing, sometimes I think the KZread algorithm is nothing but black magic, or it's read my mind. I'm going to clean all my windows with fairy, and save a fortune, many thanks.

Love your video. It explains and shows all. Thank you, this helps even if you don't have the cleaning tool. I have been watching cleaning and household "Hacks", but not much of a "Hack" if you don't compare how it works PLUS cost. Better for our Earth not to use so many chemicals when cleaning. The Earth thanks you for sharing.

Thanks Ted- great work and just bought one and water pressure machine- so as soon as I’ve done the concrete paths will do the windows- have fairy liquid- the shower screen is the worst -

So glad I watched this - I was about to order some Karcher concentrate, but thought that there might be some good alternative. I'll be using washing up liquid instead now, although not Fairy, as I only use eco-friendly brands. Hopefully the one I use will do a good job too. Thank you so mauch for doing this video

Another excellent video mate. As a matter of interest, I’m wondering if I could use my Karcher K4 with the soft wide brush attachment and some washing up liquid? The water output when using the brush attachment is quite slow so I’m thinking this might be ok? I would then dry it off with a microfibre cloth. I don’t own a window vac 😊 Obviously I’m talking about cleaning the outside!!

I would be tempted to try it. You're not going to damage anything and it might work well. You might need a squeegee to remove excess water before you dry the window with the microfiber cloth.

Thanks a lot of the video, very informative review! Which karcher model did you use and do you think just using a cloth to dry and buff the glass afterwards is equally as effective as using the vac? Sorry if this is obvious, but can you use the window vac without a glass cleaner, would this make a horrible squeaky noise? Thanks again for the detailed review, keep it up!

Thanks Daniel 👍 I used the Karcher WV2 window vac in this video. You could just use a cloth after applying the solution but the window vac is quicker and removes the dirty liquid unlike a cloth which spreads it around. You do need some form of liquid on the window when using the window vac. Adding the washing up liquid seemed to reduce friction when pulling the window vac down over the glass.

@@danielzhou920 Yes, after having mine for a year now, I believe that it has been worth the price. If you are a perfectionist, you may find that you have to buff up the glass with a microfiber cloth afterwards but for most people the finish will be good enough and it saves you a lot of time.

Great video , can I ask if you tried a Methylated Spirit mix?

Thanks for the feedback 👍. I've not tried a solution based on methylated spirit yet but I would expect that a solvent like meths would be good for cleaning off greasy marks like fingerprints. I will give it a go when I get the time. Thanks for the suggestion.

A window cleaner ones told me to mix 5 liters of water, 1 spoon of washing up liquid and a half cap of ammonia (8%). That should do the trick

Interesting idea thanks, I'll have to try it. I'm not sure if my wife will be too keen on the smell though 🤔

I use baby shampoo for my windows, any cheap baby shampoo is OK, I might try adding vinegar to it for extra cleaning power if my windows are very dirty

I’ll tell you what!! - clean you windows with a flash floor mop and then one pass with a Kärcher - it’s so easy with the pole to reach up to the top etc & the window comes over sqeaky clean & it’s done in no time and effort - Try it - you’ll see what I mean Rogerbill

I'm pretty sure that I read that using Fairy Liquid on double glazed windows ruins the seals and eventually leads to condensation getting inside the unit.

Thanks for your comment Ed. I'd not heard of this and have used washing up liquid (in a bucket of warm water) to clean my windows for many years. Having looked into this there are some comments on the web claiming that washing up liquid can damage the rubber seals that hold the double glazed units in place. These don't actually seal the glazed unit though. The Everest double glazing website, actually recommends using a soapy solution of warm water and washing up liquid to clean windows and frames. Using a window vac, you only use a very small amount of detergent anyway so I would have thought the chances of it damaging your windows would be very small.

@@bigtedshome That makes sense, and I suppose its not sitting on the seal for any length of time as the vac is removing it. Only just got my vac today and was going to just use windowlene but will see how this goes.

What’s the ratio tried and has film streak I’m sure it’s my ratio mix it to good understanding the ratio unless via the diary bottle sullied with karcher can you help me in Australia lol

It sounds like you are using too much washing up liquid. I used one 5 ml teaspoon of washing up detergent (fairy) in 500 ml of water. The mix I used which included white vinegar as well was 50 ml white vinegar plus 400 ml water and 5 ml washing up liquid. I hope this helps 🙂

Should the vac have a good suction with nozzle on, as i cant feel any 😮

I can't test mine at the moment as I'm in Spain but I'm pretty sure that you won't feel much suction if the window vac isn't against a flat surface. If your window vac is not removing liquids from a glass surface then it may be faulty.

Are we looking for the 'best' or the 'cheapest'?

I was primarily looking for the best cleaning performance. The costings were used for comparison but became more significant when there was little difference in performance.

You're using the same cleaning cloth on all the products. At least the shower one. So you're actually mixing the chemicals as you clean. 😂 You also use way too much.

You butchered the Kärcher pronunciation. 😂

I know 🙂 I have worked in Germany. I used the most common (mis)pronunciation of Kaercher used in the UK as this is where most of my audience is from.
