"Do decks in EDH really try to win by attacking?" Yes. This question makes me appreciate my casual play group/meta more than ever. I do NOT want to play in a competitive combo oriented meta. It would ruin the format for me. I intentionally build ALL of my decks to power level 6 and avoid infinite combos, although a couple of members of my playgroup have started to stick infinite 2 card combo win conditions in their decks........it's a slippery slope.

My deck cant have any cards that draw otherwise primal surge could kill me, so all my draw is jus self mill and feldons cane n perpetual timepeice to protect my graveyard. Good video! A few thoughts: Still no love for Drannith Magistrate? Unless I missed it. No real mention of taxing effects like Thorn of Amethyst, Thalia, Sphere of Resistance, Trinisphere, etc. Karn the Great Creator can get cards back from exile as well, not just "wishboards". Hi guys, Congrats on 10k! I thought that it was interesting (and please take this as constructive criticism cos I care) that you dismissed Ghostly Prison, Sphere of Safety et al as "traps" that you shouldn't play, as you play near CEDH level. Of course, most people dont, and play creature heavy/focused decks. Yes, combo decks are also prevalent at lower power levels (I know, I have a mixture of decks that are combo or creature oriented) but it seemed to me to be a mistake to dismiss an entire branch of cards, just because they dont work in your meta, whereas for a lot of people they could be a powerhouse. Cards like GP and SoS can literally shut down decks, thereby giving me the time to set of MY combos. 😁 Anyway, my Tuvasa Enchantress deck plays a lot of pillowfort and hate cards. A few of the cards in there that you didnt mention include: CHOKE (absolutely brutal against blue decks) Aura of Silence Solemnity Wheel of Sun and Moon Now, I know that a lot of people wont agree with this, but I think cards like Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe are ACTUALLY hate cards, with a fantastic ability tacked on. What I mean is this; these cards are actually a way of forcing (if they play it properly) other players to tap mana to prevent the card ability triggering (a tax if you will) thereby reducing the mana and weakening their play. This is why players literally hate "paying" the 1/2/3/4, cos it not only buggers up their turn but accelerates yours... Anyway, this was a brilliant choice of video for me, as I'm just brewing a Yarsharn, Implacable Earth HateBOAR deck! (I'll get my coat...)

As a Daretti player I love Karn, Great Creator and really wouldn't want a wish board getting him banned from EDH (the -2 ability is my out to Rest In Peace and +1 makes Lattice a 6/6!). Would love to see another stax video as i think it's a criminally underappreciated aspect of EDH that should be embraced way more than it is when it comes to deck brewing and threat assessing. If people don't make decks that have a way out of stax pieces (excluding hard locks like Stasis) and choose to sit down with a stax player then it's on them to upgrade their decks rather than complain that there deck has been hosed out of the game.

I mainly used Windborn Muse and Ghostly Prison in Sen Triplets to slow down Kaalia, but it’s not really that effective now that I think about it. What’s the best way to deal with her besides counter, kill or pacify? I don’t want things like Containment Priest though because I have a bit of a grave robbing strategy in there too.

The colour least likely to be inconvenienced by having triggers denied is red, but the lifelink gives the card some play versus red. That said, I play modern not Commander; perhaps it’s NA in your format. I liked your show cuz you guys seem higher competitive level. My turn off to EDH is it seems liked dumbed down magic. As someone who is a DEDICATED Enchantress player (I have multiple EDH Enchantress decks, and Enchantress decks in every other format I play) Sphere of Safety in most power levels is incredible, but it depends on your meta. The two metas I play in range in power from jank to 8/9. Tuvasa is my strongest deck, and while I used to have the whole suite of SoS, Ghost and Propaganda in there. I eventually went all in on the "I dont take damage from anything" route and the only one that survived was SoS, it's that good, cos once you reach a critical mass of enchantments, no-one can attack you ever unless they have infinite mana.

Which you can leverage into advantage as the game goes on. Ghostly Prison gives you time to play your deck exactly because people don't want to pay if they can attack someone else for free. Your meta might be about stopping more combo's than combat, but attacking should not be completely discarded as a way to win the game, every 2/2 you can discourage to attack you, means they need to spend 2 more mana on a lethal Exsanguinate or other stumbled upon late game wincon. It's made for longer games, in which you can play more elaborate gameplans, personalizing the experience of 100 card singleton, which I'd like to think of being a big reason to play commander.
