Which Drug Will Work Best for You? We Need Comparative Effectiveness Research

The FDA's drug approval process is pretty good at determining which drugs are safe and effective. What the FDA doesn't look into is how similar drugs compare to one another. If there are three competing blood pressure drugs on the market, how do you decide which one to take? We need more research on comparative effectiveness to help us tell the differences between similar drugs.

Do the comparative effectiveness studies look at the average effect?
I am in Canada. What about Irbesartan? Was on Valsartan for years. What was wrong with that? Was it found that it did more harm than good in lab rats? I have a lot of other health issues, but everyone here is very tight lipped about it. Seems to be the way here though. Anyone out there have an answer for me? Thanks!!!

Hello, Joel. I provide below links to the official FDA labels for these two drugs, both of which are for treatment of hypertension. The way such labels are organized is that a high level summary comes first, followed by a list of label sections, then the full sections. I hope this helps you. My doctor just very recently ordered a dna test to see what medicines will work better for me... I haven't had any word on how its turned out yet... really is 2018 is my thought.
