Thank you so much for taking the time to help us. Thanks for sharing your talent and video, Rodney
perfect timing on drawer slides for me. thank you. I am fixing to chose the drawer slide configuration for my granddaughters desk and needed this info. Dan Mottesheard here
Thank you so much for this video. Extremely informative for me, someone who wants to install them and needing to determine which one is best choice for my project. Big thanks!
We purchased an older home that, I kid you not, has a major issue with every drawer - from kitchen to bathroom. One set in the kitchen is exactly like the example you made here in the video, with each drawer having a different style of runner. I was feeling really overwhelmed on which runner to use where. You explained everything so well, and now I have a better understanding of what to use when and where. Much appreciated!
This literally answered every question I had about drawer runners. Well put together and well explained. Thank you very much. 😀

I have just fitted a bunch of them in my workshop H45 runners a bit over the top i didn’t need them to carry a massive weight., i just push to open saves me installing handles or knobs. interesting video many thanks.
Very well done. This helped me a lot. Thanks.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Great vid, informative. I would like to know if its possible to retro fit the undermount runner to an old silky oak chest of drawers?
Brilliant video. I’ve been wondering if there was an under mounted runner available - now I know. I just have to try to hunt some down in the UK. Many thanks.👍🏻😎
It's nice to see an aussie woodworking channel. Always informative. Very nice production qualities also. You know, it would be nice to see the camera, mic and lighting set up you use some time.

Hi Tony! Thanks for your kind comments. We try to create videos which are not only informative but also professionally presented, lit, shot, and edited. Some of our videos actually do have a sneak peak behind the scenes. We use a variety of lighting setups depending on the location and the nature of the video. Some have employed only natural light and others are lit entirely with LED panels. There are sometimes as many as four cameras in use, and LED lighting is the most common light source. A Rode microphone on a boom provides the sound. There are plenty more videos to come Tony, so stay tuned! Thanks again for your kind comments.

Great vid, I'm trying to put some drawers into an old caravan cabinet. Do you have instructions on how to measure up and put together some drawers for an existing cabinet?
Thank you. Excellent video.

Thanks! This helped me a great deal
Very informative video. Is it possible to install the soft closing runners in a groove? Have a chest of heavy drawers that runs on a groove and wooden guide rails. The gap on either side is just 5mm, so the soft closing ones wouldn't fit right away. I was thinking of widening the groove with a router and be able to accomodate most of the new runners within the groove. Have no woodworking experience whatsoever so pardon my stupidity if thats happens to be the case.
Thanks for this detailed information.

Wish i had seen this vid earlier. Just built a murphy bed with a chest of drawers attached. Took me ages to decide which runners to use. Think i made the right choice in the end though. I chose the medium range full extention runners

We'll we are happy to help.
My question is how to disconnect so the whole drawer can come out. Think the ones similar to what I have were the 3rd and 4th drawer. They seem to have a plastic crescent that does not seem to have a mechanism to release so the cabinet can completely slide out. I need to retighten the screws on the right rail that came loose and only way to get to it is remove the entire drawer. There has to be some release mechanisms I am not seeing. Have some others that have a little lever that push up or down depending on which side of the drawer you are releasing. However, I cannot find or see the lever on the bigger cabinet drawer slide. Suggestions? Help please . Thank you
Thank You for the information

AWESOME! THANKS!
I want to make a bigger drawer for a kitchen rubbish bin. I think the Heavy duty ones will do, but do I mount them at the top or bottom or half way or does it even matter? Any ideas?
I have the cheap white ones, the DRS-450. I want to replace them. What are my options? My kitchen drawers are wide and get heavy.
Great informative video.

Thanks Tim. Always nice to hear that we are getting it right. Much appreciated mate!
This may be a dumb question but... can the heavy duty slides be used for a door application rather than a drawer? I want to make a half high dog door for my basement stairs and thought of using slides instead of hinges. The opening is 30in so i was thinking of getting 32in full extension slides for some wiggle room. Will this work? I didn't know if the door will fall off since it's not being contained by the cabinet.
Helpful vid! Thanks dude

Can you do a swap between draw runner #1 and either draw runners #3 or #4 without changing the size of the draw? Do have a video for this and if not could consider making one or recommending one? Thanks and a great video…I’ve been looking for Aussie for a while.
There are other restrictions aren't there ie drawers can't be wider than the actual drawer slide to work properly. Is this the case for all drawer slides, because the ones I recently bought does have that limitation, which I didn't know about, until I read the instructions. Are there drawer slides that can be used for very wide drawers, but with a shallower depth? (depth, as in measurement of drawer from front to back)
Great vid
great video
Is there different sizes on the heavy duty one? I'm looking for for full extension.
I have an undermount put in early 20s. I need a part to hold the glide that I cant find. Look at several online store. No luck. Any solutions to fix this draw
I could see the under mount soft close runners.
If I have bottom mount draw runners which need to be replaced can I change them out for middle position HD runners?
Does it matter where you set the runner? You put the runners at the bottom edge and the better runners in the middle, is it because of the weihht the drawer is gonna hold?Or thats the recommended spot for installation?
Thanks for the video, very helpful.

i would use only the third glide, soft close dont last, and the last glide shown take an inch of space from the depth of the drawer. just my opinion after installing thousands of drawers.

I agree with skipping the soft close. Standard close open with a fingertip and close well. Soft close need to be yanked open.
I learned so many terms I had no idea even existed
The cheaper drawer slides have plenty of friction if your drawers are out of square... I know from personal experience...
Great video new in you channel can you make a video for dyi integrated or built in refrigerator
I have a confusing question. I wanted to setup a sliding table underneath my desk for my musical keyboard. I already have a table, but the only wood on it is on the surface(the sides are rectangular metal pipes). I wanted to ask. Is it possible to mount a drawer runner underneath the wooden table. My keyboard is hardly 6kgs. Have to consider the wooden planks weight and my hands which can be resting sometimes on it when playing. The side of my table are metal and are in a sort of Offset I-shape pattern.

Generally how I see this done is mounting the slides on two wings that extend downward from the table top. There are even kits that do this, and if you don't like the plastic tray, you could probably cut a wooden one to replace it.
One thing I need cleared up if you don't mind. Say I want my drawer to hold up to 50lbs. Do I need 25lb slides one per side or do I need 50lb slides one per side.
@cabbyhubby

The rating is for a pair of guides ... I'd go with the 50 lb.
Thx

Thanks for the compact primer. I've been needing this. One comment though: It seems hard to believe that a constraining attribute of a specific type of drawer hardware is color. The budget drawers ONLY come in white? The light-duty drawer runners may be more appealing because they come in black--only black. Why is this? What would happen to the mechanism of a budget drawer if it were painted black. Would it disintegrate? Spontaneously combust? Is it against the law to paint them any color but white. It really doesn't make much sense.

The soft Close undermount drawer runner in the video is labelled SCUDR-450 on the website I can only find USCDR-450 are these the same things?
@timbeconaus
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike - sorry yes the USCDR series is the undermount soft-close runner, the info in the video is incorrect.
Great explanation, some dif to listening to some yank.
The thumbnail makes the drawer faces look as if it’s a profile picture and the faces are cut at weird angles. I was wondering how they would work with the above drawer being at an opposing angle. Then I realized it was an optical illusion. I was relieved, though somewhat sad as I wanted to see what the design concept was...
I need a 18 inch drawer how do I pick that on the web site when there is no refence to pick that size
Can any of those be cut to length at home?
@timbeconaus
3 жыл бұрын
No. We do sell them in a number of lengths. So you can choose the length that suits.
Wow, no over extension ?!!
The fifth type really reduces the useful volume of the drawer, because it needs a shallower drawer depth.
Your bottom drawer should have made the sides1\2 deeper so you truly don't see the slider as per instructions
What? No 'push to open'?
First thought; Why the hell ever would a kid be jumping on a drawer? Next thought; My kids exist. Yup, makes sense now.
When you have 10 drawers budget wins.
i always buy the cheapest
No one should care about this hardware - they all work.. I would save my money and buy the cheapest for ALL my customers and charge them a lot..profit margin is great on them.
Out of stock.
More rocket science?? The price difference doesn't justify installing something that you may regret later. It's not an investment, merely common sense!!
What about runners when an opening has no side wall as under a counter top?
