@@gajh88 i know what you mean! I also thought about it and I think I have an explanation... Probably Italians are more familiar with Spain because of the mutually intelligible language, so we feel more “connected” and we can understand a bit more of their culture also because of this reason. Another point could be the international relevance of Spain compared to Greece. We’re used to hear more about Spain throughout our lives than Greece (except for when we study history or philosophy at school). With this said, maybe Greece is not the first country that come to the mind for an Italian, BUT! I’ve never heard a single person in my life despising Greece, it’s pretty much loved but a bit “in the background”. Does it make any sense? 🤣

@-- sei tu che non sai la storia, la maggior parte del nord non ha avuto influenze austriache, gli veneti per esempio erano un popolo greco. Se parliamo della Lombardia, Piemonte è Alto Adige ti do retta ma veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Toscana, Liguria ect non hanno avuto influenza austriaca. Se vuoi essere nordico cambia tuo cognome e vai a vivere in germania perché l’italia è ed è sempre stato un paese mediterraneo da nord al sud.

From the very serious ones like recognizing the name of FYROM as Macedonia while we have stood by you during the war in the 90s from America being the only NATO member to support you with actions , and then we still haven’t recognized Kosovo. The Macedonian issue really hurt us . We treated you as best friends and always stood by you but we felt the Slavic betrayal. Even in eurovision null points from Serbia always ... lol🤪😂 you prefer the Slavic family than us. 🤷‍♀️ the latter is purely a joke but the first one is rather a little thorn in our hearts. However we will always have Serbia in our soul and the biggest love of our lives. I can’t help but loving you even though you are sometimes naughty .

Greece and Italy share a large part of history. Since antiquity when Greeks colonized Italy, to the Middle Ages and the Byzantine empire and the pre-modern period with Venetian rule over parts of Greece. As far as the Byzantines are concerned, there never was such a thing called Byzantine empire, the medieval Greeks called themselves Romans. The Roman Empire did not fall in the 5 century. It continued for another 1000 years with the eastern Roman Empire and Constantinople as its capital. As matter of fact, Greek people still call themselves Romioi(Romans) to this day. The term Byzantine is a name Western Europeans came up with centuries after the empire had fallen to the Ottomans

​@@newreast3904 This is the past my friend. We're not living in the times of Emperor Basil II. and Tsar Samuil or in WW2. Greece has since 50 years very good relations with Bulgaria. Bulgarians are very similar to Greeks religious and cultural. Remember 1987 with Papandreou and Zhivkov during the crisis with Turkey. Together we formed a military front in North Greece/South Bulgaria against the Turkish army. Also don't forget spring 2020 when Bulgaria opened the dam to prevent Islamists from crossing the Evros River.

As an Egyptian, I love Greece very much It has good people and a beautiful place. I hope to visit it one day, as well as Italy and Spain ❤️🇪🇬🇪🇸🇬🇷🇮🇹❤️

In Greece we have a motto "Greece-France alliance" which derives from our historical events. The phrase seems plain/dry, but in Greek language is more significant than it sounds. Moreover, after our independence in 1821, French people helped a lot Greece come out of the darkness and obscurantism the Ottomans had put us in. In short, French helped in Greece's industrialization. Greeks never forget the ones that helped us.

We also love Serbs very much, but we don't know the country very well, since up to 1990 it was hard to go and this changes fast now as idea. There are trips organized to Belgrade and I have been to kopaonik which had amazing mountain and forest.

I'll have to visit Serbia, I am thinking of a road trip from North Macedonia up to Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Also I want to do Bulgaria and Romania in the future. Balkans are the most beautiful place in Europe but it is underrated because of western Europe. Much love from Greece.

If u go to Serbia try to get the best out of it...Belgrade n novi sad totally worth it but don't miss out on golubac, djavola varos, pirot, leskovac in august (they have a food festival, rostiljada), uzice, zlatibor n mokra gora (thats where life is a miracle was filmed, zivot je cudo), Republika Srpska (visegrad is awesome, river drina crosses the city. Sutjeska national park, trebinje n of course banja luka....whole Bosnia too, mostar is amazing). Point is that there r so many places to visit in Serbia (i didnt even mention half of them) to appreciate the country n believe me, it will surely pay off!!! I agree that balkans r the most underrated region of europe...Romania is beautiful as well but leave it for another roadtrip n when u go to Bulgaria take the road up to brasov, sibiu, cluj n on. Its mostly about Athens I would say. You should visit Greece because of the nature. It got both mountains and sea. In Greece u can see such a beautiful sunsets and views.

It's a bit surprising to me as the Italians invaded Greece during World War II. It's like if most Poles love Germans (although of course the scale of Italian invasion of Greece and German occupation of Poland is totally different).

@@indonesianstudent88 that is one time they betrayed us but we see the total picture. On the other hand many Italian places welcomed many many Greeks when Ottomans were conquering Greek mainland and Greek Anatolia, and many Constantinople scholars went to Italian universities.

@@seifhammady1723 couldn’t agree more! My family used to live in Egypt but sadly Nasher kicked us from Alexandria:( I would like to visit Egypt as soon as possible after the end of the pandemic. I would love to see the place that my family used to live ( I am not an Egyptian but my family was part of the Greek community in Alexandria)
