And during the 1600s Dutch traders brought a larger amount of tea to Europe many credited Catherine of Bragonza, a Portuguese noble lady for introducing the tea to Britain when she married King Charles 2 in 1661.

Eventually the British found out how to grow tea plants so they made the Indians plant them. India was a British colony at the time and their soil was perfect for planting tea

It’s per capita consumption. The stats are correct look them up. Say an average Indian drinks 1 cup made from x grams a day, those in turkey may drink multiple cups made from greater than x grams per day. Also i think this is for black tea, but I could be wrong about that. But you maybe right in total weight per country, some of the larger Asian countries will probably top the list.

I was hoping for the following list: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India & Pakistan as the folks here float in tea. Maybe the countries represented in this video have most consumption per capita of only black tea as in South Asia, India & Pakistan particularly, tea is mixed with milk.

I don’t think that Afghanistan has a high tea consumption. How are they suppose to grow tea when the country is so arid and dry. I also doubt that they have enough funds to import it.

@@justus4341With exception of India, all others are heavy consumers not producers. Pakistan terrain is mostly arid to semi-arid. Afghans are fond of tea but green one. And on lighter note folks of sub-continent can compromise their countries economies in favor of tea.

Funnily enough, they forgot to mention either pakistan, india, bangaladesh or any south-asian country.

I'm working in a Chinese company and my boss is Chinese. I've never seen him drinking plain water, he always bring a bottle of tea to work, and make some glasses of tea at work. At the restaurant, he even order a pot of tea

They are talking about normal drinking like a beverage we indians and Pakistanis drink it like water
