I enjoyed this video, well done. There are a few things that you did not mention. The customer service for CGc and cbcs is really nonexistent. When you call cbcs you get routed to a call center in India and they have no clue what is going on with your books. Also it is outrageous that CGc and cbcs charge extra if your book is worth more. There are third party graders there job is to grade nothing else. Why should they benefit financially if my books are or the more. I prefer pgx their customer service is excellent , turnaround times much better and no bs additional fee if the book is worth more.

PGX will print the grader notes on the back of the label for a $5 fee. I have it on one of my books. It's great for transparency. CGC gets the most value for sales due to market preference. I prefer them for selling books or speculation.

Thanks for the video brother, you succinctly stated all the salient points as to why CGC is and as far as I can see always be the industry gold standard. I see many individuals attempting to slam CGC but at the end of the day there is a difference between your personal preference and what is in fact the best investment. You always have to divorce your personal feelings and preferences from objective and quantifiable realities. There is a reason that we have never seen any of these record breaking comic book sales over at Heritage be sold in anything other than a CGC slab. I personally will never use any other grading company other than CGC with the possible exception that I might utilize CBCS but only for a modern book.

I believe the larger question to ask is why aren’t grading companies consistent based on the consistent standards of grades in the guide? You should never have to submit a book and think that it’s a 9.0, and it comes back at 7.5 in some cases, or it comes back at 9.6 in other cases. There needs to be consistency throughout every grading company, a grade should not depend on what an individual grader might think at a particular time. Standards are standards - in baseball you don’t hit one off the wall and it’s called a home run versus somebody hitting it in the stands and it’s called a home run versus somebody not hitting it at all and it’s called a home run. There’s a standard set of rules.

If over-grading ruins a company's reputation, please watch this video about a "9.8" that I got back from CGC: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hp6Ek7qFnpXLn6Q.html While I think this video was in much better taste than your last one on this similar subject, you still present your argument without providing proper context. If you can't call out CGC for doing the same thing you're calling EGS out on, then that invalidates your argument. EGS sponsors a giveaway that I'm a part of, and I'm not afraid to sit here and say that that EGS book you have of theirs is not a 9.8. I actually agree with you there. But can you do the same about CGC? I would truly love to hear what you have to say about the example in the video I linked.

Watched your video on the spider man 9.8 cgc. I agree that shouldn’t be a 9.8. I can’t see it in person but with the defects you mentioned it’s not a 9.8. I mentioned this in my video. That it really depends on the tier you send it. When you send that spiderman book. It’s a modern tier. And with that you get cgc more inexperienced graders. And they do mess up. I just got back a 9.8 that I thought was 9.4-9.6. I also get back comics that grade 1-2 full grades lower then I think. Those I crack out and resend. The real thing is that even though cgc isn’t perfect. They are 90-95% spot on. With egs they are 100% off on their grading. I haven’t seen/experienced a single egs book that was even close to the true grade. A subscriber just told me they got a crow 1 first print Egs. And they cracked it out and it was a 2nd print. The difference is possible thousands of dollars. Egs in my opinion is way way to inexperienced and therefore I cannot recommend them.

You're really missing the point here, Sir. And 90 to 95 percent??? Show me where you found the numbers on that, where CGC has a 90 to 95 percent satisfaction rate. If they're at 75, I would be shocked based on the community's continued PROOF (not heresy) of their mistakes and downfalls. Sorry Sir. You still have not learned anything from the last video.

@@ComicBookInvestments Thanks for taking the time to watch that. I will say it is hard for me to discuss this with you because I'm still taken back by your last video. I want you to take in this next statement with trust in what I'm saying: I have seen a handful of EGS books that have been under-graded, in my opinion. I literally own a EGS 9.6 that I can't find one single flaw on it. I saw a CGC 5.0 cracked and resubmitted to EGS, and come back a 3.0, which, even to me, seemed harsh. My point is, you can easily say that CGC is spot on 90-95% of the time because you see dozens upon dozens of CGC books every week. I think because EGS is so new, any issue with them gets highlighted, which can skew our perception to either side of the extremes. You say they 'over grade," the person who got that 3.0 back doesn't stop ranting about how they "under grade." Perception is a funny thing. So, while I think you're doing your best to be honest, I think you're still you're making statements in a reactionary state of mind, hence, "with EGS they are 100% off on their grading." How can you sum up their ENTIRE grading as being 100% off? You're dealing in a lot of accusatory absolutes when it comes to EGS, and that is where I still have a problem. I see these types of absolutes with CGC and CBCS as well. Remember, anyone who has a bad experience is going to sensationalize their own experience to the EXTREME, but we have to remember to isolate each incident first and foremost, and don't allow those individual's emotions make our minds up for us. I wish you would have done this video first and had never done that first EGS video, but what's done is done. I have similar feelings as you about PGX, but I honestly believe EGS has a lot to offer, and that doesn't even mean that have to be anything close to what CGC or even CBCS are. I know I'll always get slack because they sponsor a show that I'm a part of, but those who know me know that I don't fake the funk for anyone, and the president of EGS knows that I will never hesitate to speak my truth, like agreeing with you that this EGS book here is a questionable 9.8. I'll also be doing an honest review for when their new cases come out. I have a paying order in to them for two books, both non-valuable variants with awesome covers that I just wanted custom labels for, which shows that they do offer a service/product that means more than just resell value.

I in my video I said this is my opinion. I listened to your first comments on my last video. And I agreed with you that I need to say this was my opinion on the matter. I even stated to do your own research. My reason behind 90-95% is because like I say In the video. I send about 4,000 comics to cgc a year. And have been doing this for over a decade. I honestly just don’t see what egs offers that would be a reason to use them. They aren’t the cheapest. That’s pgx. They aren’t the best in terms of holding their value. That’s cgc. Their labels and cases aren’t as good as cgc. The grading and grading notes and overall in terms of user interface on their website what they offer is better at cbcs and cgc. So just because they are new that’s it. We disagree on this matter. And that is fine. But I still stand by this on my opinion. That I see no reason to use egs and I don’t think they offer a good product. Competition is good when the competition is offering something better or more. Egs isn’t.

Reach out to me after EGS gets their new cases and I'll show you the one CGC "can't find in their system" and the "9.8" which clearly isn't a 9.8. Not sure what you consider factual information but this dude literally just saw a comment from a subscriber about a Crow book, turned around and spread that as proof to another commentor using that heresay to defend CGC and slam EGS. Just happened in these comments. Look for yourself. He doesn't even understand what factual information or data is. He states that CGC is on point 90 to 95 percent of the time and he pulled that number out of his 4th point of contact. That is not factual data or info. YOU are ready to make your decisions based on that as well as go as far as to disregard a company completely, and argue them to the death with me. I can tell that already. Im sorry Sir but this gentleman is not subjective in the slightest, he doesn't hold CGC to the same standards he does EGS for some reason, he doesnt hold them accountable for some reason, he makes up his own facts and data, contradicts himself constantly and has family in another grading company which can absolutely be construed as conflict of interest. This video was made in an attempt to cover up his train wreck of a biased video he put out a little while ago where he did the exact same thing but with even less info and more favoritism. If YOU have not learned from the HUNDREDS of horror stories out there as proof for the world to actually see and you're lining up to go be one of those horror stories from CGC, then there's absolutely nothing I am going to be able to say to show you the ridiculousness in that. SHOW ME THE PROOF! I can direct you to sooo many examples of proof about CGC including my iwn PC. You guys.... show us the proof. When you can SHOW that EGS is worse than CGC, you can scream it from the mountaintops and I will accept it. But that day is not today. Hi David I live in Australia and I have some experience with Halo. They're still around and they pretty much only focus on the local market. As u can imagine, the reasons why virtually no one from the states send books to them are the same reason why some Australian uses them. It is more difficult and comparatively more expensive for us to send stuff to the states. You do see quite a few Halo slabs locally in shows or local ebay stores so they're around I've used them recently for some books intended for my own PC. I use CGC when I buy books from US retailers and will have them sent to first a US presser, then CGC, then a third part shipping company before shipping them to Australia. It's a more expensive and riskier process Anyway my impression of Halo 1) Best thing about them is the case is REALLY tough. Extremely sturdy, can probably drop them from a floor high and have a chance of not getting any damage wheras the CGC cases are easily cracked. I sometimes hear squeaks just handling a CGC slab...makes me nervous 2) Grading appears reasonable, my copper age books did get down graded as they should have 3) Turn around time is about 2 months I would imagine the European EGS is pretty good and I expect German services/products top notch... anyway just abit of input

Here's a different thought: if you've got a beloved book that you're not going to sell in the next few years: don't slab it! Keep it unslabbed and put it up on the wall with a case from Etsy or collector's resource. Or a shelf using toploaders. Slabs are great for protecting value, but IMHO, they don't present nearly as nicely as a raw book in Mylar. Granted there is some risk in that, so it's not for everyone. I've got some $1k+ books and the majority are in slabs, because if I kick the bucket, I want my family to be able to easily put it up on eBay without any hassle.

@@nelsonrodriguez5451 I’m not sure what that has to do with my sarcastic dig at CGC. Graded books do have their place in the market but it’s gotten wildly out of control. You’re making the assumption that the grading companies don’t make mistakes. Taking their “opinion” (as they love to use as an excuse) as fact can cost you $1000’s. Especially when it comes to all those 9.8s with more flaws than 9.2s. If you’re not doing the due diligence to find out if a books is restored or missing a piece that’s on you. And raw books get low balled because 90% of dealers over grade and over price everything hoping a sucker will come along and blindly throw money at them. And sadly, many do.

Hard to make all my points in a chat. Never said grading companies don't make mistakes. Please don't put words in my mouth. I don't buy 9.8 modern and get those raw since a new book should be 9.2 to 9.8 because it's new. Of course it's on me if I am buying a book and then it's missing a value stamp or pages. Graded books was setup to eliminate that. Also 80's restoration was a big thing and now its not so yes for Bronze and Silver age books, grading protects buyers and buyers get a better a price point closer to the FMV of the book. Dealers can over price books but be greedy when people are fearful and wait for the book to cool off which they all do and pounce. My general rule is silver Age keys 8.5 is the fairest sweet spot grade. Bronze 9.2 and Copper to Modern 9.4 to 9.6. Can't get everything 9.8 or you never complete the collection. Also, this is a free space and I am entitled to my opinion.

I personally prefer the CBCS experience, but for my books that are very liquid in the market (Marvel Silver Age, Marvel Bronze) I use CGC, only because the market still favors CGC over CBCS (but that gap is closing). For Golden Age, i like CBCS -- I don't think the market punishes you if you're selling a GA book in a CBCS slab, because GA buyers generally know how to grade and can see if they agree with the grade after looking at the slab. I don't bother with any other company outside CBCS or CGC.

In 2017 I lost everything in a house fire and one of the things I have wanted to replace and I am going to tomorrow is a 1977 Marvel Comics Super Special number 1 KISS with blood in the red ink. The owners father bought it brand new, put it in a protector and it's been in it since 1977. I don't know about comic collecting. I read comics in the 80's and I collected the entire Ghost Rider I think it was 81 issues. But my questions are , the protector slab they put them in, can you open them if you want to and put it back in and which of the companies would be the best for it? I'm guessing it's vintage? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

PGX had some early scandals and still to this day make very bad errors on color touch or trimming etc. EGS...among other things.. will verify a signature based on a COA.....because no one could print their own COA???? CGC was great in the first few years. Great prices and they were spot on grading. Now…prices have gone up and quality has suffered. Maybe they need to hire more ppl and create a true standard that they use. You can send in multiple books that look perfect and they all get a 9.0 or 9.2. You can get a 9.0, crack it open, send back and get a 9.6. Or believe your 9.4 should be a 9.8. Crack it, send it and now it’s a 9.0. Almost always zero notes. You can set for nothing below 9.2 and they’ll send you books sealed and a 9.0. So I guess they don’t care what you asked for. Prices based off value makes zero sense either. Then turn around times can be horrible. CGC needs to slow down, re-evaluate prices, hire quality graders that all go off a standard. 10 million but about 7 million worth of sloppy work. Once egs or others bump their quality…CGC will lose ppl.

On Regie collects Regie told a story about this collector who’s book was over graded. He thought with his flaws his book was a 9.2-9.4. He got a 9.8. Now maybe you’ve seen SEVERAL EGS graded books but I’m sure you could make the same arguments about grading. I believe that you made the same argument before about the EGS graded DareDevil book. I get that’s an egregious example but can you honestly say a company that’s been around 20 years hasn’t made some pretty bad grading mistakes?
