Keep the Z06 content coming, Luke! It's one of the few sources of good info out there on a car that was announced the better part of a year ago and basically has still not been objectively reviewed by any real auto journalist or really even seen outside of heavily choreographed Chevy events with their ardent online influencers. All this nonsense with the warranties would be made irrelevant if GM made the cars in adequate quantities, or priced them appropriately given constrained supply. It's not like there's a shortage of people willing to pay higher prices for these cars, else the flipper market wouldn't exist. The dealer-franchise model has resulted in a situation where being given access to purchase one of these vehicles is the real value. It's bad for capitalism when a manufacturer gets to pick its customers and not the other way around. GM has made a vehicle almost tailor-made to bring interest from non-traditional Corvette buyers. Many of these new buyers are coming from a world in which they're used to paying 50-100% more than what Z06 MSRP's for. I'm willing to bet that these non-traditional Corvette buyers can afford, financially, to wait 12 months and 1 day before trying to sell. I'll be very curious to know what happens to used Z06 prices in 2023/24. If GM cannot ramp up production fast enough over the first 12 months of Z06 production, the flippers will still be rewarded. I reiterate: the best way to kill the flipper market is to produce the vehicle in adequate quantity or to price it in accordance with its scarcity.

I'm really interested to see how the new guidelines placed by GM will unfold and what, if any changes will be made! I'm mostly interested in knowing what allocation numbers will be looking like. IMO, I feel like these are step's (either right or wrong) but nonetheless, GM is taking some kind of action. My biggest complaint overall are the dealerships that are charging excessive markups! I know technically it's not illegal and if people can/will pay them, then it continues to occur. You can't honestly say these $50k markups to charity donations isn't being pocketed in some way by the dealers. I would like to see GM intervene in this area! A start would be penalizing their allocations and giving them to the dealerships charging MSRP so they can better care for their customers! Be well -Shane

I’m planning on keeping my Z06 so selfishly the changes only benefit me. I’ll get the $5,000 bonus in points and I don’t have to worry about the warranty. Now I just need to continue to be patient…

I think that’s where I’m at too, but it still leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Just doesn’t feel quite right. I hope we look back on it as a good choice.

How will dealers know if you bought the car from a flipper? Will service centers pull up carfaxes to see if you are the second owner within 12 months? Also how will someone know if a warranty is voided even if you try to buy a used one past 12 months. ?

There are a lot of people saying they won’t be able to keep track of enforcement. That may be true for low value small time stuff, but if you blow a $10,000 engine, I think you can bet they’ll check the carfax before they authorize any repairs. There are brand new cars out there with voided warranties all over the place for various reasons. It is the seller’s responsibility to disclose the fact that the car has no warranty. Do a google search and you’ll find a case of Carvana accidentally selling someone a year old C7 with a voided warranty without disclosing it. They had to make it right.

I feel like if the person can afford to buy the Z06 with it being flipped aren't going to be worried about paying for maintence if they don't have a warranty. I'm hoping to get my Z06 early spring. Being from Buffalo I don't want it any sooner than early spring lol.

Chevy Dealerships can add hefty market value adjustments with out impunity on the ZO6….. but a customer who purchased one with their hard earned money is prohibited from selling the first year…. How hypocritical GM !

I gotta say it…this is pretty crazy times we live in. There could be legitimate reasons why someone would need to sell a car within a year……I have never flipped a car in my life, but if GM is going to go after flippers that should also go after the dealers that took deposits promising MSRP and when customers went to go into order last week they found out the dealer was now tacking on 50k ADM. I think this may be a bluff by GM just like they threatened dealers for price gouging and nothing really came out of that.

Agreed. It’s not an incredibly negative thing, but it feels like bad dealers (not mine) are running wild while we are all asked to make this involuntary sacrifice, minor as it might be. I for one feel 100% sure they will be lockstep on enforcement. They have a whole department just full of folks who do thinks like search Facebook pages to see if you ever abused the car. If they give those folks the green light to cancel warranties like this, they will go to town. I would take them very seriously. GM does not bluff about cancelling warranties.

@@RecordsRebuilds this rule wouldn’t apply to the enthusiasts like you and me so I’m not too concerned about it at all. I almost feel bad having to trade in my C8 for the Z06 because I love the car so much. You and I also have the same dealership Ciocca. I’m 53 on their list. I agree though they should definitely do something about the dealers breaching futures contracts by breaking their promised MSRP list. Could you imagine how those folks felt going in to order last week thinking they were getting the car at MSRP? That’s just so unethical it makes me sick.
