As well as they should, if GM isn't enforcing the MSRP crackdown on the dealers. Why are you putting your foot on the neck of your customers? It wouldn't be fair.

I think the problem is with dealerships Folks should not be able to buy more than one but the problem I think ADM’s that price out regular folk as flippers willing to pay more to get the car. Maybe booking reservations through Chevy would identify the multiple buyers and create a fair distribution. But with 2500 cars, I fear the special case or the regular person will just be over bought by flippers. I have great respect for my sales specialist believing he will always do the honorable thing. He knows my solid reasons for me being on the list and hope and pray I get the call.

It should be 2 years like the Ford GT. They should also require their dealers to sell at no more than MSRP. Whatever is necessary to stop the flippers who are preventing real Corvette enthusiasts who want the car for themselves from getting one in a reasonable time frame. The allocation process which has now been messed up by the 3LT sales being the basis for allocations should also be reconsidered by GM. Those of us who bought 3LT are securing dealer allocations for people on lists who didn’t buy 3LT. That’s not right either.

Thanks for update Mike. Been a big fiasco with GM can’t make up their minds plus nonstop issues with Z06. Dealerships being absolutely greedy with large mark ups. I was on the list for Z06 at Autonation Arrowhead Chevrolet in AZ. Then manager decided to cancel the list and now wants at least 40k above msrp. The same dealership I purchased my 2021 C8. GM needs to step in and act regarding the on going greed by their dealers.😡😡😡

I think this is just one more thing showing that the Z06 is not what they have claimed. The torque figure, disappointing. The top speed, disappointing. The 'ring' time has not been revealed, obviously because it is disappointing. The press car and the KZreadrs can't speak how it drives. Why? Probably they would reveal that they are disappointed. Revving the car will get boring after a while, and then what is there to justify the high cost they paid to get one. GM has announced that the production will be 10%. Not that many, probably because they know that once the car hits the market and the reviews come in, the demand will drop. I think that once the public gets their hands on the Z06, the interest will decline, and people will not pay the huge premium to get this car over a regular Stingray. And now the warranty. It is probably because the car will be disappointing to a lot of people and they will want to unload theirs as soon as they can. And so they probably feel that most people will wait 6 months before they unload their cars. I could be wrong but the signs seem to be pointed in this direction.

MSRP solution: GM should allow the customers to move their orders to another dealer. That way, customers can negotiate where they close the deal. GM should also put together a pre-approved list of dealers that sell at MSRP. How can I give this idea to GM?

Ford did a two year restriction on selling the last generation of Ford GT. No legal challenges were successful. Think it helps the corvette enthusiasts to be able to source a car. Rick Conti ran into a guy who keeps flipping c8 corvettes every couple of months and making $25,000 per transaction. All the while some would be Corvette buyers can’t get there first C8. Think Corvette was much less aggressive than Ford. It only effected the warranty. Ford actually sued there customers who violated the contract. Think the dealers should be forced to sell at sticker to.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today GM backed down on their C8 Z06 warranty retention period. Are you happy with this or do you want them to get rid of it all altogether?" Really doesn't matter what I think. All that matters is he who is willing to spend the most will get the car first. On another note, if GM had any temerity at the Corp level a solution to the price gouging can be found.

GM has historically published incorrect performance figures for various reasons. Example the unwritten 1960’s agreement between Chrysler, GM, and Ford that no engine would be rated over 425hp regardless how powerful it actually was. I am taking the position that the top speed will be more than the published number.

GM is full of bean counters who could care less about the enthusiast. They allow the engineers to develop the car within their marketing parameters. Some of those parameters are that most people can’t drive a manual and won’t track their car. It seems Porsche is the only company left that responds to the enthusiast, but the Corvette hype seems to be driving their demand and prices skyward too.

Just like what Rob said on the livestream, Chevy was wrong about the C6 Z06 and C7 Z06 top speed. They both went 202 mph even though their official numbers were 198 and 196. There are a lot of long straights in the world, and someone will go 200 mph in the C8 Z06. Even Ferrari stated that the LaFerrari was only 217 mph but someone went 230 mph in it on the Autobahn.

With regard to the sub-200mph top speed, I suspect the lack of low end torque, coupled with the gear ratios determined to be practical are to blame. Top speed is likely reached in a lower gear because not enough low end torque is produced to pull the higher gears necessary to approach or exceed 200 mph in a naturally aspirated flat plane crank engine.

My 2007 Z06 is faster top end then a new C8 Z06! Wow I thought as many of us the C8 Z06 was going to be this all around fast super car. I’ll buy 2023 C8 and send it to callaway it looks and sounds better then the new Z, plus save a few bucks by not having to pay over sticker and have a faster car both top and bottom end then the Z06, I’m sure many buyers of the Z06 are rethinking the purchase since over 1/2 don’t track the car ever to begin with! Plus who is spending 40k extra for a 2/10s better 0-60 time and a lower top speed then a stock stingray? I like the looks of the callaway plus the double D exhaust add the new supercharger and this is a no brainer. GM made a mistake but for us buyers who don’t track the car it’s a good thing huge money saver.

I think they are just trying to protect their consumers that can not afford to pay 40 or 60 thousand dollars over sticker price I will not be purchasing one due to the gouging this car is demanding from dealers. Gm is so full of it. Hard to hit over 200 in a production car without forced induction - especially a V8. I have no clue why you thought 215! 😂...You were definitely dreaming. I think the c6zo6 did around 197-198. A guarantee you with forced induction it will go over 200. Na that's asking a lot for a production car. Ferrari 458 barely does it but smaller - lighter car and the Ferrari has only 560 hp.

WHO is going to go over 200 mph? Who is going 190mph. When has anyone unless you are running a 6 or 7 sec quarter mile car. Even if its over 200 , you have Bugatti's running 300 mph . F1 cars , the fastest and best handling cars in the world don't have top speeds that high at all? I would rather have a quick , fast car , with 1.0g+++ handling then do 200 mph . I don't think its a " big ball drop" at all. A porsche carrera , 2022 does 180's . A $300k++ Porsche 911 turbo barely does 200 mph and the gt2rs does 208 at $500k dollars. About this pricing thing , dealers are screwed , pos. But we never had these issues in the past with corvette. Not with the zr1 ( c6 ) or the c7 z06. People wanted to have and drive the cars. Look what happened to Ferrari with them putting in place you couldn't selll it within a year with their hyper cars because it screwed the pricing market. Same thing with ford GT. Sad times.

You phrase it like previously you could not choose to sell your Corvette before one year of ownership. It now sounds like GM has retracted their policy of not honoring the warranty beyond the original purchasers who might “choose” to sell their vehicle within one year of the original purchase. As good as this car appears to be, I choose not to participate in all this Z06 nonsense. I’m sure it’s great for KZread views though. I have never paid as much as MSRP for a new corvette and I’m not going to start now. I worked hard to earn my money and I choose not to give it away to greedy un-needy people. Our government already does a good job of that. Since I’m only 68, I’ll continue look in my rear view mirror at the corvettes while riding my (need for speed) paid-for sports bikes.

As a business GM is not going to admit to problems they are having with the vehicle. If GM mass produces this vehicle with serious issues. It will kill them. There has been a lot of bragging about this vehicle and It seem to be falling short of those claims. There are vibration issues inherent in a flat plane crank engine, oil consumption and crankcase back pressure problems causing seal leakage to name a few. They need to get this right. I hope they can but I'm having my doubts.

Glad the warranty scandal is over. GM was going to get sued. No one has any business going 200+ mph on a street car. A car should be thoroughly inspected even down to rocks in the tires before going over 150 mph. The tires are the weakest link at speed.

Any producer of a product is not required to warranty the product at all. Many things you buy have zero warranty from the get go. If it's in the print that there is no warranty and you sign the dotted line under those conditions, what are you going to sue for?

@@thereissomecoolstuff Gotcha, but I would recommend reading the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a little closer. It does say warranty available for new car. Available and new car. They are talking about flippers and warranty not being available on the used car. I know, warranty should still be valid as it was originally written, and I agree. I'm not saying I like the idea at all. I'm just saying it's not going to be just a simple lawsuit. They gave the warranty with the new car.Gonna cost a lot of money on both sides and a lot of time. By the time it got settle either way, that car would probably be gone. Definitely not arguing here, just voicing my opinion on lawsuits. They are just trying to stop the prices from being driven so high by flippers. I don't like this tactic either. I know I just way overpaid for a C8, but maybe I'm the dumb butt.LOL. I do appreciate your response. I'm sure many don't know about that act, and it will bring light to a lot of people who just blindly comment.

@@timyarbrough9862 it's cool Tim. This gets back to changing you own oil and dealers honoring the warranty. You have to buy the factory oil or its equivalent and an approved filter. Verify mileage and keep the receipt. If you miss one step, your warranty can be voided. By moving it to 6 months they either concede it's a bad idea or they are going to build a lot of cars, which they can't do. Thank you for the comment. You nailed it. GM shouldn't be worried about private sellers when their dealers are gouging. I'm a $30k over buyer on the Z. Feel like I got the deal of the century. That's how bad it is.

So hitting over 200MPH is nothing more then for bragging rights and honestly there is no reason a production /track car needs to go that fast for one, you can't go that fast on any public road in the US only closed tracks and to hit 200mph on a track it would need to be a good size oval like what Nascar runs on because you don't need 200 mph on a road course and I know your going to say you can do it on the German Autobahn well not for much longer, They are considering putting a max speed limit on that too soon so in reality you don't need a car to go that fast and here's the big thing, NONE of the production cars are designed to hit a wall and be servivable at even 120 MPH so it's just a waste of design time ...

This is true. Anyone that manufactures anything doesn't have to warrant it. If you don't want it without warranty, don't buy it. This was not for GM to control you, it was to stop the flippers which is driving the price sky high. They want the people to be able to buy the cars at MSRP. This will never happen with all the flipping.

Top speed doesn’t matter on the street. Even handling isn’t a big issue. What matters is straight line speed which is where all of us are really using it the majority of the time. I would be happier with a 10.2 1/4mile than 200mph. High tens is what every car is doing now a days.
