At Juventus he played alongside Pirlo and Vidal who played as DLP and BWM respectively, hence he had more freedom to move into the opposition's final third. At United he sort of plays like a box to box midfielder which means he has to drop back to help his team defend. Play him behind Lukaku, then have Matic and Herera deeper in midfield.

I agree with the second point. But not the first. Mourinho is actualy a beast at counter attack when he has good teams. His Real Madrid team scored over 100 goals. His Inter were also monsters in attack (considering the Italian league's defensive style)

Then when in 2010 Josē went to Madrid Barcelona where the finished product while madrid had bunch of stars with no clue how to defend or play together! Pogba at Juve was in a system with Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini. He had far less defensive responsibilities. His midfield partners were the likes of Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio. Compare that to the system and the team his in now. Couple that with the fact that there’s allot more competition in the Premier League amongst lower level teams then there is in Serie A and it’s understandable why there’s a drop in performance. Pogba is a creative player in the final 3rd but he’s been required to do too much.

Mourinho has not been the same since his term at Real Madrid

Here comes the revisionist history. Fergie built several United teams, some were attacking others struggled. The 08/09 team scored 68 goals, the second lowest ever for a title winning team. In 04/05 we scored 58 goals. Yes Fergie had many attacking teams but the football towards the end was awful at times but we ground out draws and 1-0 wins. Jose is having our best season since Fergie left. It may not feel like it but its true. He is still trying to fix the mess left behind by Fergie, Moyes and Van Gaal. He is working with a cobbled together unbalanced squad from 4 managers, this isnt his team yet.

Absolute Muppet what's amazing about fergie is he always produce even with less. I'm not a United fan and I always knew that with Fergie, no game is over until the final whistle. Attacking or not, they always seem to get a late winner or equaliser which puts fear in any team. I'm sorry but Mou can not be what Fergie is. Fergie develops player and is willing to adjust his style of play. Mourinho only knows one way to be really effective: sign mature players and play counter attacking football

Craig Barlow and then his last season at juve towards half way through that season was t his best without pirlo or Vidal or marchisio because marchisio was injured most of that season and came back to limited minutes and Pogba formed great chemistry with dybala

Thanks , yeah Pirlo ran that Juventus side with Marchisio two great Italian masters they gave Pogba the freedom to express himself , at Man Utd he's not been given that choice Pogba is 24 still very young and he's expected to carry Man Utd It's ridiculous , players who aren't turning up are players who are alot older and more experienced again in Man Utd's midfield they have Matic who is a great CDM but he's not going to control games so Pogba is forced to sit back unfortunately . I'm a Arsenal fan have been many years and we see the same problem with our midfield Xhaka is only 25 similar to Pogba and he's expected to solve our defensive crisis yet he's not a CDM Wenger is using wrongly same as Mourinho with Pogba .

Mourinho doesn't suit united. Man United's team is full of quality and attack. When we've seen United play attacking football they've been great this year (for example the arsenal game). Mourinho is holding players like pogba back and ruining the reputation of man United playing entertaining football. I would be fine if they were getting wins while playing defensive but they arent. 3 games in a row with draws and it's heading for a repeat of last season

hazard machine yh I did watch the match. I was talking about the 3 goals. Before that game mourinho would park the bus at kick off but that game he didnt. We attacked and were able to find 2 early goals from attacking football and showing no fear when playing. Arsenal then started peppering the goal which gave mourinho perfect reason to play defensive. I'm fine with the defensive football, but only if it's necessary

I think Pogba would work best if we bought a box-to-box midfielder (e.g. Nainggolan, Kante) to partner Matic. Then he can attack, which is what he is best at, and link up with a front 3 of Bale/Griezmann (hopefully), Lukaku and Martial/Rashford.

As a Juve fan I have to disagree. After Pirlo and Vidal left in the summer of 2015, Pogba had his best season with us establishing himself as the owner and work machine of our midfield with dribling, pace, technique, physicality and set-piece mastery. He scored 12 goals and 10 assists PLAYING AS A MIDFIELDER. I think that he is not being used in the proper way at Man Utd. Jose needs to find a way to make him click and turn him into what he once was.

I like the way people defend Pogba. A player who costs 90 mil, and is regarded by so many as "the complete package" apparently can't play anywhere apart from attacking midfield. What bollocks. It might not be his best position, but for that money, self-belief, and "talent", he has to at least put in a decent shift. Scholes could, Gerrard could (even in a team with less talented players). No excuses.

Omar Habib and where has that got him and United, KDB is top of the league...stats don't always tell the full story e.g his pass to Martial for his goal was a simple ball and Martial bends into the top corner it counts as an assist, also Pogba doesn't dominate games like KDB or David Silva...whereas KDB dominates games and plays defence splitting passes and providing some of the best crossing...another e.g Xavi and Iniesta would probably get 2 goals each a season they will still be recognized as way better footballers than Pogba because of the way they dominated and controlled games...Pogba has had very few games in a United shirt where he has dominated, he does a little trick or switch the ball and United fans say it's world class smh. Pogba has proven nothing in the EPL.

He should change club. Man. U is obviously poorly managed and can't use the real potential of their players.

At Juventus, he had Marchisio and Vidal to depend on in terms of defensive duties, which allowed him to play the creative Role to the best of his abilities. Jose now has to find someone who can fill that exact role someone like Savic, Goretzka who can be a box to box alongside Matic as the pivot. Then they will start playing much better

Looking at the football pogba is playing know Paul scholes was bang on the money ! Since ole took over we have seen a completely different player he's been one touch passing , charging past players with he's skill and power , darting into the box at every attack , I personally haven't seen him stupidly lose possession since ole come in he's loving it atm he's constantly smiling I still love Jose because of hes character but man he got it so wrong with that lad ! And before anyone says he won the world cup playing as a defensive midfielder I say he was playing with kante and matuidi two excellent defensive midfielders !

He can’t do what he’s expected if he’s playing under a negative manager. Mourinho is too negative and he isn’t playing pogba in the correct role. Mourinho needs to play him in cm or cam not cdm where he’s being held back.

Come on guys. United are difficult to beat after long time. Also 2 trophies last season was one of the best seasons we had for years. Mou and pogba are good for united long term. One more class player needed upfront.

That's what I though when I saw him transferring...

Pogba needs to try more take-on's. Once he gets passed one player, the entire structure of the opposing team breaks down and space opens up. I wonder if Jose has instructed him not to lose the ball middle of the park because to me that is a counter productive advice to give to a destroyer of structure. He has to take risks, otherwise he is not playing his game.

Scholes always has something against Pogba. I don't think he realizes that Pogba is giving his best but he cannot do everything. And we start again with his price tag. Dembele costs more and all he has done is to sit at home cuz of an Injury. I hope Dembele returns better than Neymar but at least this season he looks like he is not needed to Barca

He should be playing the Lampard role he had with Chelsea. Most forward in a three-man midfield. If ManU could get Seri that midfield would be unstoppable. Matic at DM, Seri as the box-to-box engine and Pogba with a license to do his magic. I reckon we'd see many more 30m thundercunts and killer passes.

It's that when he was at juve he had pirlo creating chances no one on Earth is better than pirlo when it comes to creating chances when he was at juve he had Arturo Vidal who could literally attack and defend at the same time it was mental how much Vidal did in that juve side so Pogba had a free roam situation which was great because that's what he needs to play not a deep midfielder at man u ..man u don't need another expensive player invest in a young deep midfielder who can pass the ball and move Pogba up a bit with Herrera and they'll be golden

It's not about Pogba, it's because of Mourinho tactics that holding him back and put him in double pivot position instead of give him freedom to roam like the way Allegri asked him to do while in Juventus.

Scholes is right, he was playing alongside pirlo, Pirlo controlled every game he played in, i think the perfect player for matic and pogba to play alongside is Marco Verratti, similar style and is elegant on the ball, coming from a Liverpool Fan

Yes it is because it’s United , United should be the closest to winning the league every year. After all they have the most wins in bpl history , the most points goals and etc. Mourinho is not making that happen. If he is a world class coach as he thinks he is he would keep them at 1st. The best Coach is who brings a team of k individuals and does something amazing or a Coach who makes his team perform for 2 years or more ( SAF ) at the highest level. Mourinho isn’t good anymore . He was when he made inter win the ucl , now he has the best team in BPL history and he is struggling.

It no mystery. Serie A has nowhere near the athleticism of the Premier League so in Italy where the players are slow and not very strong and full of old players like Buffon, Totti and DeRossi, Pogba dominated because no one in Serie A had anywhere near his athleticism. He comes to England and all the players are very athletic and can match him for speed and power and he is less of a star because his athleticism is not the exception it is the rule and the rest of his game is exceptional enough to carry his form when his athleticism has been neutralised by the athletic opposition. It is classic Clark Kent analogy. In Serie A Pogba was Superman on Earth. In the Premier League he is Superman on Krypton and just a regular guy.

What about when they got to CL final mate?

Pogba doesn't have the football iq to be a deep laying mid or regista. Also, he is a liability in midfield 2 because he has little defensive awareness. Mourinho need to change his formation and tactics to a 3 man midfield and give pogba a free role.
