Ecclesiastics is one of my favorite books. It’s unique in its own way. Store our treasure in God and not other things 😀

"under the sun" is the way he starts all the vanity of vanities. If all that I can see of this natural world with my natural eyes, under this natural sun is all that there is, then it seems meaningless. But there is obviously more than just what I can see, more than what I can understand. If I can't understand the small part of God's creation I can see and understand, I certainly can't understand the God who made this and all that I do not know.

Helpful, but not every pessimistic passage starts with that asseveration. In fact, sometimes the tone sounds quite cynical.

The book reflects the limitation of the writer, with a message to put trust in God and not to disregard God's providence.

Ecclesiastes really helped me as someone brought up aethiest, it's not got the baggage of hearing about all these places and people and differences in doctrines etc. I think it is quite a direct way of showing someone the big picture whether they've heard of Abrham or Moses or Jesus, or have a negative connotation with either of those names

Ecclesiastes is simply a summation of how meaningless existence appears from mans point of view when not viewed through a Christ exalting heart. It is a logical rational conclusion on the futility of a life lived outside of God's will or even worse a life that's lived without even considering the existence of God to be a realistic concept. There's not a single atheist who on his deathbed doesnt come to the same conclusions about life that the writer of Ecclesiastes did, minus the conclusion of the book itself which is to fear God for this the whole duty of man

Dantes prayer. Listen to the song. I understand that when you get to know God it increases pain. Try to live your selvf into the song. It is heartache and the more you know the more you hurt in this world. Ecclesiastes is truly beautifull.

Best explanation I've heard so far: "A rich sinner who believed in God, kept a journal of his pathetic life." "Fear God, keep his commandments, love your neighbor as yourself." Why must we complicate it!

In someway this book points us towards the direction of the commandment to love the Lord our God with everything in us it literally from my understanding tugs at ones self to seek him in all our wsys so that we dont just do stuff and live a life of "vanity" but instead a life that fulfills the purpose your supposed to carry out so that we can walk in the steps which have been set out by God and even if we stray along the way are still able to return Proverbs 16:9 Isaiah 38 10-20 Ecclesiastes 7 11-13 Colossians 3 23-24

Solomon had wisdom, fame, money, woman, yet despite that there was something missing, and wisdom without God is still foolishness and it will thrust you into madness and deep depression, only when you have God does everything make sense and you can truly enjoy life. Solomon could not enjoy Life for he had drifter from his creator. That's what Ecclesiastes is about

It’s only difficult if you are viewing it through the lens of man made doctrine and dogma…if you view it through a simple relationship with God, it’s a simple thing to understand. It’s just about priorities

Hello Pastor John, I have been following this program from Cameroon. I noticed you are still called Pastor and not Reverend John Piper. Please which to know whether ordination as practiced in Baptist Churches is biblical? Where a Pastor serves for about 3years or more and if the congregation see that he is called then his name is proposed for ordination.

He begins with an over arching thought, "meaningless!" Then explains his reasoning. He first points out that we labor, and then states the observation that all else goes on its own way, regardless, of anything. He starts to reference to the fact that trying to find something of meaning in the world is something youll never be able to satisfy. He says there is nothing new under the sun, the same principals are play all the time, in all situations. A bad peraon, isnt viewed as a bad person, because they j-walk, but because the principal at play that allows them to break one law, allows them to break another. A sabotage here, a sabotage there. Deep fakes an AI, seems new, but manipulating the masses has always been a thing. Any, i digress. He sums it up by stating, no one will remember you eventually, regardless of what you do, and someone will do whatever you did, again, eventually, ao may as well have not done it. He goes on to talk about his persuit of wisdom. He says, "what a heavy burdain God has laid on mankind!" Because he, like many of us, just has no idea what theyre supposed to be doing, and cant find out, saying directly after, "i have seen all the things done under the sun; all of them are meaningless." His plight is that, "what is crooked cannot be straightened," which i think refers to his insatiable pride, to think he should be able to explain anything. He cant even imagine the amount he doesnt know, "what is lacking cannot be counted." He goes on to talk about his persuit of wisdom, and how ot brings grief. Knietzche said the higher your branches reach upward, the deeper your routes go into the darkness. Wisdom is a dark world, that cant easily be shared, or spoken about, and it allows you to see a lot. And we are in a light, momentary affliction. So, with wisdom failing him, in his persuit, he decides to experiment. He looks around, and sees all those who seem to enjoy themselves, and he "embracea folly." Hes just gonna hang lose, live life, do some good, build some stuff, do whatever he wants, be awesome! Then finished, and was left with nothing to do. None of these things hes tried were real. All pedent, and having no point in persuing. Just more streams that do not fill the sea. He finds that his wisdom is better than folly. Yet in the end, like the fool, he will die, and be forgotten, and nothing he did will matter, and to anyone who cared to speak of him or a fool, wouldnt know the difference. He starts to talk about his toil and labor, and from my own experience, he has worked, with the expectation of doing it for a reason. He looks up doesnt see one. This hints to the lonliness of this man. I feel that anyway. 24-26 is confusing, he says its best to find satisfaction in your toil, for it is from the hand of God, and who pleases him will be happy, but the sinner will be tasked with storing up his wealth and giving it to the one who pleases God. He finds this, too, meaningless. Im not sure which part. For a sinner to store up wealth, or for toil to be seen to benefit anything? Idk, idk... But he goes on to talk about the joys of working, to please God. As if to say, the good is that sea is never full, and it is a gift from God, that we are to maintain his gardens, spread his wisdom, labor under God. He also talks about a time foreverything, which is a whole things in of itself, cause it aligns with my view of being appropriate. This is a huge stance on the pedantic nature of we worry ourselves with outside of God. Few things are real, there are absolutes, and we cant say what they are. We xant fathom anything. We could assume, and what goo does that do, but raise a question? He begins to act as the voice of the loud today. "Look at all the atrocities of the world!" He talks about the wasted toil of those who work for the wrong reason. Out of spite, or just because. 9-12, all but saying, "im encredibly lonely." This book is so relatable i wonder how much of it is this guys passive aggressivity. Anyways, he says advancement is meaningless, i guess because its not gonna be what you thought it would be? Im not sure. Obviously im just kinda running through this, i really like it and wanna go back and explore, but anywaysssssss, i feel as though God has held me to short prayers. The references people who talk to much as being dumb. God doesnt need you to inform Him. God is fully aware. And if you have said anything to God you are to be of that spirit. You dont arbitrarily blabber to God in some unimpressive pathetic way to impress GOD, who, btw is God... Much of prayer would be better used in meditation, to hear from God. I view this sentiment by the words love the lord your God with all you mind heart and strength, amd love your neighbor as yourself, and all else falls under saying, do one, and the rest of what you do is symptamatic. There should be no efforts in life, but a being. Dreaming and speaking is a waste. Do or do not. Dont say things you are willing to be about. Youll sound like a fool. I dont believe anyone will read this far, but im going to bed. Ill peobably reso this with more... Legitimacy on a later date....

@ask pastor John Have you written anything on the two horses of the Bible? I very strongly suspect that the word for horse in one language is vanity in another and salvation in another. "Israel is my magnificent horse in battle. Pharoah's army of horse and chariot were a "horse" in Mirium's song. Israel failed when Jezebel's witchcraft was stong. Who showed up to overcome Jezebel? At the horsegate, Jezebel was killed by a horse. I can imagine Jezebel stomped until the blood reached the horse's bridle. The two horses in scripture have names or titles: the wicked horse is one dead (a singular being)...and the good horse is the "living one," (a union.) Safety is a better translation than vanity, because the living one comes to save. All things were created by him and are of him because he is the Word.

This isn't for people who don't like to read. I apologize for making it so long, one thought led to another and so on. Sorry about that. There are three primary sources of religious energy which are the Holy Spirit, kingdom of darkness religious spirits, and human soul power. During times of no outpouring of the Holy Spirit (as in this day and time) it is extremely rare and difficult to find someone speaking by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, but it is commonplace for religious people to have the anointing of a religious spirit, and/or to run on soul power. The religious spirits are the highest echelon of warrior demons in the kingdom of darkness hierarchy who are carefully groomed by kingdom of darkness overlords (aka fallen angels/principalities) to know how to mimic the Holy Spirit. Religious spirits and religious soul power seek to mimic the Holy Spirit, and sometimes they can be very convincing with their 'Do-Gooder' persona, their sanctimonious posture of perfection, their mock authority, and their busy 'good works' agendas. The ploy has mostly to do with manipulation and control of the humans who allow themselves to be used by religious spirits as human mouthpieces, and manipulation and control of their followers (especially that). Sometimes soul power can be a good thing, as in construction trades, mechanical trades, sports, music, art, chess, math, science, engineering, higher learning, anything that requires special talent and ability. But religious soul power is pretty much always exploited by kingdom of darkness religious spirits, the reason being that the Lord requires for Christians to wait for him to give them the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and if he doesn't give it to them, for them to do nothing ministry-wise until he does. But if they go ahead anyway and launch out in presumption and start relying on soul power, they give automatic rights to the kingdom of darkness overlords to lade them with a religious spirit, which is what is going on with practically all of these KZread religionists who are being driven by the religious spirits operating through them to be obsessed to post their spiritually worthless videos. One thing these KZread religionists fail to consider is that because they refused to wait on the Lord to give them the anointing of the Holy Spirit, but went ahead doing their own thing in his name anyway, that when the end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit comes they'll be left out of it because they have their reward now with their fifteen minutes of fame. That's exactly what happened to the televangelists and the system church priestclass who emulated them (so-called 'pastors') during the mid-90's outpouring of the Holy Spirit (what became known as "The Toronto Outpouring of the Holy Spirit" that lasted from 1991 - 1996). Then when they realized that they were left out of it they got jealous and bitter and vilified it, with many of them blaspheming the Holy Spirit by saying the outpouring was "Of the devil." KZread was actually concocted by the kingdom of darkness overlords as a forum for religious spirits to manifest through human mouthpieces for the purpose of making a parody of prophetic ministry (and of Christianity in general), and for the purpose of controlling millions of Christians, and it is working famously well for them. In their esteem, everything else on KZread is just worldly fluff, but which is useful to them because it helps to legitimize KZread, which is very important to them as the KZread false teachers and false prophets are their primary voice to the world now, along with the system church priestclass (i.e. so-called 'pastors' and other assorted ministers) who emulate them. The kingdom of darkness' highest priority agenda is to use KZread to acclimate Christians to false prophetic ministry, because they know that during times of no outpouring of the Holy Spirit (as in this day and time) that the Lord keeps the true prophets hidden, and that when the end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit arrives (which I think is going to be fairly soon) he will bring them out of hiding and anoint them with Holy Spirit power. That is exactly what happened during the mid-90's outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And the kingdom of darkness overlords remember it, so it is of utmost importance to them to acclimate Christians to false prophetic ministry now so that when the end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit comes they won't be able to relate to it, and they'll distrust the Lord's prophets, and will be afraid of them, and will call them false prophets, especially when they hear their messages which will be so totally opposite of the sweetsie-sweet and nicie-nice 'prophecies' they've been being weaned on for years and years, most of which major on the elementary principles of Christianity which the Holy Spirit said not to be doing (see Hebrews 6:1-3 in the King James Version). As a side note, religious soul power sometimes drifts over into witchcraft which is also always exploited by religious spirits. Psychic phenomenon can be a form of witchcraft (alsoTarot cards, 'law of attraction,' palm reading, numerology, mind over matter phenomenon, etc.). Simon Magus of Acts 8:9-24 is an example of that. There are many so-called 'pastors' and other ministers who employ witchcraft control to compensate for their own spiritual powerlessness. Many music ministers and worship teams rely on witchcraft spirits and witchcraft methods to empower them. The story about the Philippian girl of Acts chapter 16 (beginning with verse 16) is an example of how a religious spirit manifests through a human mouthpiece, as in what is going on with these KZread religionists (i.e. teachers, so-called 'prophets,' and other assorted self-appointed 'Do-Gooders' who are doing their own thing in the Lord's name, some of whom are making a lot of money doing it). Bear in mind that everything the Philippian girl said was 100% correct, and was 100% the truth. But also bear in mind that it was a religious spirit speaking through her, the same as what is going on with these KZread religionists. As another side note, politics is actually a lot of people's religion, and politicians and their followers are often targeted by religious spirits. There are a lot of spiritually defunct false teachers and false prophets who have no anointing of the Holy Spirit whatsoever whose credibility is dependent on their ranting about politics. KZread is awash with them. Since they have nothing of spiritual value to say, if they didn't rant about politics, nobody would pay much attention to anything they have to say. In Mark 8:15 the Lord told his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod. As I understand it, the leaven of the Pharisees has to do with soul power religion that is devoid of the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the leaven of Herod has to do with politics, both of which have all to do with control (kingdom of darkness control). In Ephesians 6:12 in the King James Version the Holy Spirit speaking through the Apostle Paul revealed that the fallen angels run the world system (which is why the world is so messed up). In that verse Paul referred to the fallen angels as 'principalities.' As another side note, whenever someone gives rights to the kingdom of darkness overlords to lade them with a religious spirit, they will also lade them with a deaf, dumb, and blind spirit (per Psalm 115:5-8 in the King James Version), after which they will be unable to hear the Holy Spirit speaking to them, they will be unable to speak by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and they will be unable to receive spiritual truth (they will have no spiritual discernment). Back during the mid-90's outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit spoke the following prophecy through several Christian prophets in the US and Canada which was this: "When this outpouring ends the enemy is poised to retaliate against the outpouring with the biggest onslaught of religious activity in the history of the Lord's church." That was around ten years before KZread was invented. At the time the prophecy was given nobody could envision what it was the Lord was talking about. Now we know. I always try to remember to advise Christians to start praying and asking the Lord to give them the gift of discerning of spirits (the Holy Spirit speaking through the Apostle Paul made mention of the gift of discerning of spirits in 1 Corinthians 12:10 in the King James Version), because if ever there was a time in human history when the gift of discerning of spirits was needed, it is now. . I also always try to remember to advise Christians to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in tongues, because speaking in tongues is like a superweapon against the kingdom of darkness. I also always try to remember to advise Christians to never watch religious KZread videos, for obvious reasons (obvious to me at least), and to spend the time they'd spend doing that seeking to develop a living relationship with the Holy Spirit in the quiet at home. If you decide to look up the accounts of Simon Magus and the Philippian girl, I suggest that you read those sections of scripture in the King James Version.
