This aria is so often sung in a starchy concert setting. How invigorating to see it for what it is - a poignant love song in which Jupiter wants to give Semele paradise on earth.

The aria was caressed beautifully by the tenor. Thank you for this performance.

So beautiful. Really Handel at his best and the singer...is doing his very best too

in days of "yore". this piece. was often used at graduation at many schools-. the words. are important as to giving advice to young people going out into the world.

💕Beautiful. I have incorporated this song into my prayer routine - especially when travelling.

I've never heard a better version! This aria is so beautiful, but the nuance in every single note here...the orchestra and tenor are in complete lockstep on not just the musical but the emotional level. And the acting is tremendous. Is it at all possible to find the full opera and buy a copy? Amazing

who is the singer- i thought his first name was brinter but can't find out anything about him --that voice- my local 96.3 play this piece frequently and brought me to tears the first time i heard thisversion

Maybe he is talking of high G in the B part which is clearly too high (and aaaall) and sounds like a A flat. All the rest is rather excellent.

Why is he wearing driving gloves?

It’s a nod to him taking on human form so his God-like form doesn’t burn her to a crisp. We felt gloves were a good symbol of that protection.

What an odd production - and what on earth is Jupiter doing wearing driving gloves?!

Lovely singing but the production left them stranded.
