Patricia Petibon, generalmente, ma qui in particolare, è certamente un esempio di come la vocalità possa essere al servizio di quell'ideale musicale che lo spartito suggerisce e della sua espressione. La dizione esemplare, la scansione del testo esalta ciò che Haendel ha scritto. Il tutto con una sapiente, ma discreta interpretazione, infatti, nulla richiama alla autocelebrazione, che a volte alcuni cantanti, magari per narcisismo subiscono. Qui siamo di fronte a un'artista di grande sapienza e di umiltà che non celebra certamente se stessa, forse perché talmente raffinata e intelligente che non ne ha certo bisogno.

Brava! Interpretazione molto raccolta, drammatica che non scivola mai nel patetico. La sua voce non prevale sul testo e sullo spirito del brano. L'espressione sofferta ma fiera del volto della Petibon riflette a pieno l'intepretazione di questo brano.

Many great sopranos have performed this aria but Patricia Pettibon lives it.

Je crois préférer la voix contre ténor de Jakub Orlinsky, Haendel a écrit pour eux, et c'est peut être plus dans l'expression, la vérité de ce répertoire très particulier. A chacun son ressenti, bien entendu. A chacun de vous la musique pour toujours! 🌈 💝 💫. 💟 🎇

Meravigliosa la scelta di lasciare che si senta appena il respiro del primo violino nell’ultimo forte orchestrale: sembrerebbe entrare poco con la musica questa ultima osservazione, ma il pathos che ne scaturisce vale ogni lacrima che esce dagli occhi commossi. Confrontandola con altre interpretazioni (Marilyn Horne, Suzie Le Blanc, ma anche la Bartoli), non credi che questa interpretazione sia un bel po' calcata, manierata, eccessivamente teatrale, quasi goffa e grossolana?

Very nice but way too much vibrato. A very clear voice was critical for this aria; vibrato was considered bad taste in 18th C except for occasional ornaments. Boys actually sing it more authentically.

Almost unbearably sad - but Patricia's rendition makes it art. Can't thank her enough for sharing her enormous talent. It takes her a while to come out of it and become a performer on a stage once she's done.

Das ist schon schön gesungen, mir aber zu ruhig und zu wenig leidend. Da bin ich ja eher ein Anhänger der Auffassung von Nathalie Stutztmann. Zum Schluß müßte doch "La Libertá" fast ein wenig herausgellen, wie im Farinelli-Film. In seiner Ruhe hat das für mich - Ich bitte um Verzeihung - fast etwas Parodistisches. Die Dame hat aber einen wundersamen Hut und schöne Zöpfe.

La plus belle interprétation jamais entendue... ça va sans dire !!

If she hasn't already, then by this performance Ms. Petibon proves she's earned the right to be ranked among the best and if her rendition could be improved, then I haven't a clue what it would take. Also, her costume delights!

Oh my goodness, she is a true manifestation of the Sacred Feminine Principle. I love the way she sings and how the musicians play it so slowly, so reverently. Her outfit is sublime, the hat is adorable and they all match her amazing hair and lovely skin! A work of art herself!

Stunningly sung.....Patricia Petibon is a marvel.The slower pace underlines the sheer beauty of the voice and of Handels Music.

Every time I listen to someone sing this I hope it's the best I've ever heard. This was not a disappointment! I've listened to 5 or 6 different people today.....I'm back to Patricia the Magnificent! Her phrasing is gentle and profound. If this isn't a perfect performance please tell me where the imperfection lies. I'd really like to know.
