Amusing line. But you don't have a choice in many areas. It's not like in movies where potential jurors are grilled and say something someone didn't like and bingo you're on a jury because of Judge Grouchy.

I've managed to get out of three jury summons because each time they summoned me, I was 5 hours down the road at college. They kept saying they'd call again when I was back in town on break, and i gave them the exact time window I'd be in town. I got this letter every year, no joke every year since I turned 18 in a row until the age of 27. That means for a decade I was "randomly selected" for the potential for Jury Duty. Then for 10 years in a row never had to go in for the selection process because I was told that I was not needed. This cycle only ended because I moved out of state. There was a part of me that wonders if there was someone who wanted to go every year and then some other lawyer that was like hell no need tell them to not even come in.. Either way it basically became a ritual because they would always send around the time of my birthday. It was my birthday gift frim the state lol.

And since we didn't know which day she would have to attend or if she even needed to attend at all for a period of an entire month, we couldn't arrange for a babysitter in advance. It's rare to be called on jury duty, or at least rarer than in the US. I think the only person who did it was my grandmother 30 something years ago.
