Good actor 😂 especially the last part about the donkey 😂. More conversations like this. It's helpful to see how you handle questions from non-Christians.

You got me thinking what it'd be like without the chapters and verses; Context takes on a whole new meaning. It's not just the verse before and after anymore 😊

It kind of dawned on me for the first time in a deeper sense when I was listening to the letters of Paul. Hearing the whole letter in one go read out loud, gave a different perspective. I think it's good with verses and chapters for many practical reasons, but it is important for us to also remember that it is a whole letter / book, not individual verses pasted after each other :P

What’s truly interesting is, when you actually “read” the Bible, you typically realize how absurd it is.

There’s definitely some odd things in there when you read them by themselves, which is why it is so important to read the context and overall story. That helps makes sense of much :)

@@thechristianlife that’s a nice hand wave but there’s no context that makes mass murder, rape and slavery contextually acceptable

@@JSk-sj5bb To make something acceptable is something else than to make sense of it. It is important to know / keep in mind, that just because the Bible is the Word of God, doesn't mean that everything in it is condoned by God. He shows the good, bad and the ugly while He is interacting with people throughout time.

@@thechristianlife god specifying the slaves “who you shall have” is the god. killing every first born and oh also flooding and killing everything and everyone is murder and yes the god. The god depicted is objectively horrible. You can’t say I love you with all of my heart and best me at the same time. Actions take precedent, not words. And I’d like to point out, there’s still no good evidence to suggest any sort of god exists to even write/dictate a book.
