When to Walk Away from That Which NO LONGER SERVES YOU

'Walk away from that which no longer serves you' can be great advice if understood correctly, but do we sometimes use it as an excuse to avoid important life lessons?

One of the most important lessons I ever learned is to not put more effort into a relationship than the other person is willing to give. Once I understood this, everything became clear.

That is real and golden. Lots of times we want to make others happy by doing things for them even going out of our way to do so, but it always backfired because they see it backwards. They see it as you trying to earn their approval they miss that it was done out of your love 4 them and your wanting to share that light. You want to give the gift of your love but it's not seen nor reciprocated properly. This has been my experience mostly with women. I guess people only cherish what they earn not what is given freely: they believe it has little to no value so it's discarded. That is why kindness is taken for weakness. Especially in this society where mostly power is respected and love is not seen correctly. It's sad and twisted but true. That is why it's hard to find true love. If you show you care to much people get so afraid they think your trying 2 get ownership of them. All this in a fleeting world. Instead of opening their hearts and leaving nothing behind unloved people rather be miserly.

Well tell that to my baby daddy who think he is the 2nd coming for going on almost 3 years now. He thinks he’s God. Oh and he think I’m mary Magdalena. He thinks he’s going to save humanity but he can’t even take care of his son. He has said on multiple occasions that if he doesn’t become what God said he would by a certain date then he will drop it but then he makes up another date, and another excuse, and says he cannot walk away or make promises to me anymore. Apparently eden will be restored in 20 years. I’m all for wanting to help others, and peace, and love but this situation has really made me dislike the idea of Jesus, and Christianity or religions like that. Why is there so much destruction in the name of God ? So many wars based off of someone saying they KNOW GOD and THIS IS THE WAY. Thanks for letting me vent KZread.

@@afriend621 Sure🥰 For the most part of my life I’ve lived in denial. I grew up hating my life, my parents and siblings. I was always the odd one out of any bunch. My dad was very critical of all of us, especially me. I could never do anything right and so I started to believe that. People called me weird just for being myself. I started to hate myself. Looking back I realize that I was and still am a sensitive and sensual person. Quite emotional and intuitive. It’s what makes me so creative and attentive. Qualities that make certain people nervous because it reminds them of what they’re missing out of in a way. Hating myself to the brink of wanting to end it all was very painful. Somehow I never really could kill myself and I felt guilty of even thinking of doing so. This life of mine wasn’t really mine I figured, and I knew that I would hurt the people I would’ve left behind very deeply. I became so depressed. Not wanting to take care of myself. Letting bills pile up, leaving my loved ones in the dark and feeling ever so worthless. Not being able to dream at night was the worst part of it. I would wake up and all I could feel was darkness. That was when I had decided i wanted my life back. I could not go on like this.. Being brought up with the Christian faith and abandoning it, made that dark hole in me even larger. My life spiraling out of orbit actually gave me a chance to be alone. Just me. I had to face me. I searched in the dark only to find out that the outer space had become my inner space. After a long time of self-pity I decided enough was enough. It took my almost 10 years to get back on my feet. Yet I started facing things head on. At first it was so intimidating but I knew that this was the only way for to really be the me I had always been. And so I became very honest, first with myself and then with others. Some people hated it and others loved it. The rejections I feared actually happened but didn’t feel so bad after all. Of course people left me only for others to return or meet me as I was. I stopped my successful cake business last year and started writing. People told me not to and I could see how money had a hold over them. The, according to my father, dumb lucrative business idea actually started open doors. I became freer with every step into my own direction. And now life is so beautiful. People still find me odd yet can’t help to love me just as much as I love them. When I walk the streets I see people looking at me as I greet them with a smile. They know I now have the magic and it reminds them of their own. And with that my friend I can say thank you for your curiosity! It gave me a chance to see more deeply into my journey and the path I’m on. Love for you and your loved ones, to all who have read this ❤️

Many years ago, there were people in my life that were allowed to use, and control me. The day the decision was made to leave those people behind, regardless of whether they were family or friends, was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It was like getting clean from chemical dependancy after decades of suffering. All of those people around that were so-called friends were nothing more than those that wanted something from me that I was not able to give. Loneliness is difficult on this journey, and there are times of dispair, but listening to someone else who has experienced this too, is heat warming. Shalom

I have been traumatized literally all day after having to walk out of an interview early this morning. I still can't make sense out of how they figuratively attached me like they were pitbulls. They also argued with every answer I gave to every question they asked and greatly criiticized, shot down, and challenged literally everything I said, never satisfied nor pleased with anything I said, and twisted everything around on purpose to make snap, negative inferences about everything which were inaccurate and unfair! At that point, there was no way to correct them point by point, get them to do right by me, and apologize, so I felt forced to leave, and that's what I did due to how abusive, wrong, negative, attacking, and sharply painful they were to me! I came across this video In search of how to cope from this morning's trauma which still makes me wonder why this scenario was ever allowed to play out like it did in front of me this morning, so thank you!

I have acknowledged the reason why certain people came into my life, whether good or not, was for my own growth. One truly never walks away from those who we love. This is where true unconditional love for the other person plays a very important roll. I have learned to honor and respect other’s journeys, is not up to me to understand nor judge their behavior. However, I believe in having compassion for our selves is very important. We must honour our selves. You can’t give unconditional love, pour into someone else’s cup unless our cups are full.

Because there's one more person whom i love and that's me i would always keep myself first because at the end of the day it's me who's gonna look up for myself not my girl. "This no longer serves me", I said at the end, and my stubborn pride walked away from a miraculously orchestrated chance to be the wise example of forgiveness and understanding. "I don't care who you were, what I care about is who you are becoming" ...I NEED this understanding perspective from others, but I'll be worthy of it only when I can walk away from my pride and shine with a responsible light that runs towards my own wiser potential. Most definitely a perspective. I’ve felt something was so negative for so long but kept ending up right back here, only when I started to get the lessons did I realize I’d only been running from myself. We have to be willing to have conversations and also knowing if something is seriously happening or if you just lack boundaries and are creating a negative scenario. It’s much easier to blame others and overlook the part you play in your own suffering.

I think a better and simpler way of putting it would be " walk away form things/people/circumstances , when you find other things/people/circumstances that serve you MORE " So if you find yourself in an abusive relationship, ask yourself is it better to be here or to not be in a relationship at all. If you are underpaid, is it better to settle for less or go find a job where I'm paid what I'm worth.

I am in a challenging situation concerning a loved one who is seriously ill. Sometimes I wonder if it is my ego or my spiritual self is being tested. I feel the ego controls us although it is not a reality. What does not serve me is the ego, it never did. Once I remove the fallacy of the ego then I can grow spiritually. That's the lesson to learn.

A character defect that I battle with is what people think of me, and I'm always people pleasing and trying to control, and I waste so much time and energy worrying what others think of me. With all due respect, I feel this is a bit over simplified. Playing with fire and getting burned is a learning experience, as is being around toxic people and it can indeed lead to spiritual soul evolution , however, Is it not still better to stay away fromthese types of friends and relationships? Walking away can also be more conducive to ones spiritual growth.

The judgement and criticism you feel about them is in you, not them. It is not who you are as the toxicity is not who they are. Freedom comes in seeing this. I find it very joyful to be with someone who is demonstrating egoic behavior. Of course this is not the truth of us. When you are present this way, it is the greatest gift. Then it is just funny and fun. Let the celebration begin.

I totally agree. Nothing wants to be served more than our ego and if the ego says that things are getting too difficult most people just walk away or quit a relationship. But this is not the right solution. We should take ourselves time to understand and to deal with problems whenever they arise. Every situation serves your growth. Just give attention to any challenge you have in life or in your relationship and you will grow and be happy with your loved ones.
