I agree, we need to learn to take responsibility for ourself 😊 but the journey has been a lifelong task for me. As a child and young woman I had no role models around me so i really did not know what it ment when someone talked about beginning to take responsibility for myself. So i had to look for role models and start transforming all the kaos of feelings within me. What i had learned i had to unlearn and people who knew what it ment had to teatch me as an adult how to begin taking responsibility for myself 😊 allthough i have had a life with a lot of struggles i am at age 53 in a place in my life where i feel almost at peace with myself and my relationchips (the few i have today 😉)and for me that is huge and i am greatfull for the effort i have put into this task in my everyday life througout my 53 years of life ❤️ thank you for sharing your reflections on life, they help me maintain focus on my journey ❤️

I think most of us need to re-parent ourselves. We need to take control of our lives. Yes, we were unloved, unwanted, neglected, invalidated, ect. They might have even been abusive situations but taking responsibility means we acknowledge what happened (the other person's part in our hurt) to us but it also means we have the power to nurture ourselves, heal our own wounds, we simply have power to take back our power.

Simple way to change your life starting TODAY..... Be brutally honest with yourself at ALL times. No exceptions! Live your life based on YOUR truth. Easier said than done... It's a process and must be willing to take full ownership for yourself! You will not grow based on lies and lying to yourself. Continued effort and diligence in honoring ALL of your truths and accepting yourself over time will bring you to your full power!

I am most grateful to have a roof over my head ,heat ,water and a warm bed to sleep in . I do not hate me nor my life .I am learning to not put myself in the position of being victimized but you would be surprised at how many people who have put me in this position . so i have wised up and people do not like this change .People will steal from you while you watch them do it then shrug their shoulders at you knowing if you even try to take your things back you could go to jail . Some claim I have trust issues I say i have learned who not to even let in my house because of their behavior .The person who ripped me off more than once also told me I had trust issues .

This is interesting. I try to make things happen by breaking them down and putting small tasks in my schedule daily. I am also working on boundaries. I do feel very alone as I cut out social media plus most groups I was in. I'm happiest around activists or alone. I don't like to socialise unless there is a reason for it like a goal. I feel like most people think I'm a weirdo but I care less than I did yesterday.

I think the power to change my life are simple things like reading, talking with others that disagree with me, writing, gardening, watching the full moon cross the range (REO speedwagon), exercising, cooking, shopping for good food. It doesn't include tweeting, posting videos of me on KZread, snapchat (I'm actually not sure what that is and don't care). You know, real-life stuff that involves real-life stuff.

Greetings! Thank you for good insight. Everything you say is rigth. However, the victims, or "victims" feel powerless. That is how their victim mentality deveoped, whuch led to attracting more situations that would confirm that powerlessness. Can you connect the sense of power and the victimhood mentality? That might trigger something within those who often perceive themselves as victims. I, obviously, had such mentality and maybe still do sometimes. But it is a vicious spiraling circle. How can the "victims" start gatherng their power back? Simply saying that they can is often not enough. Thank you

First you have to be aware of any resistance towards a situation or person, because at that moment or even after that moment you may not realize you are victimizing yourself (that you are doing it to yourself). You may feel like a victim of the situation and doing the blame game (pointing towards others). So you will feel all kinds of emotions (pain, anger, hurt, sorrow etc). These emotions are an outlet of unresolved issues of the past from childhood. It's when you still can feel the emotion, like the next day and your mind keep having all kinds of negative thoughts, that's the right time to go inward, do introspection. You can do this by meditation or journaling. Ask yourself what the lesson of that situation is you need to learn, keep asking all kinds of questions whatever comes up. Don't try to steer it, don't try to come up with answers. Make sure that the questions you ask are about you and not the other person (not why is he so mean or something like that) and what you can or need to do, what was your contribution to the situation. You may start to feel very emotional and cry. Let the emotion come whatever it is, as it is ready to be released. Be willing to let the answers come to you. You will get so much insights and you will come to realize that you were responsible for that situation and why. Hope this will help you on your healing journey.

Stop doing things for people. You may be a nice person who always says yes when you really want to say no. A simple, “No I can’t do that at the moment as I am busy.” Be nice to yourself, and don’t feel guilty for saying no. If they feel it is ok to ask a favour, then you have to right to say no. Let them take the responsibility to do things for themselves.

.very insightful perspective. WHen it comes to people living together (husband and wife) do you think making these changes within rather than confronting the person about the issue at hand is the better way forward? Im interested to know what you think about that.. I confronted my partner today about not being 'there' emotionally (for a hug and support) after my son with autism had a meltdown.. I wonder if its better to learn to let him have his space before expecting him to feel ready to be supportive to me, but I also feel like its a normal emotional response to be emotionally available just to hug each other after difficult times .. whats your perspective on that? (:
