Yes. Great advice. Biggest thing I have learned is slow down and take time to garden between “harvests”. I will apply for a couple cards at a time, but have found, for me, waiting almost a year between rounds works the best. Gives them time to see I’m actually using the card(s) and I can decide what is really working for me.
I typically wait about 5 to 6 weeks utilization is huge if you rotate over several issuers keeping everything under 10% you're typically good and you're establishing a responsible relationship with these issuers and their products
Exactly!! It all comes down to understanding how to take advantage of these credit cards! Keep up the good work ❤️

Good video bro. I typically wait about 45 days but I've pumped the brakes on applications until next year.
Your videos remind me of Bethesda, MD. It’s luxury, relaxing and so mellow there. That was one of the few places I enjoyed visiting during my time in the DMV. Keep putting out great content Brian. We newbie credit card users to the Chase and AMEX game are learning so much. Appreciate you man!🥂💯
My wife and I each apply for a new card every 6 months (allowing for a new card between us every 3 months)... makes for a good pace that earns plenty of points yet still conservative...
This is the video I needed! I was approved for the CFU on 9/2 and have reached the sign up bonus, I was looking to apply for the regular chase freedom next :)
Thanks for your advice !!
It should be 3 to 4 months per card, on average, with the current rules. That way you can recycle bonuses. The churn cycles are 4 years. Unless you have crazy high cash flow, and don't care about your credit, it's a better idea to pace applications. People that are impatient shouldn't play the credit card game. It's a marathon not a sprint.
Another quality content!! 💪🏽

Hi from HK, yes you’re right, no need to rush....TWO THUMBS UP!! I wait till I clear all outstanding balance before I apply for the next one..... sometimes takes a year and a half......
Timing is essential...a lot of people rush into things they either don’t understand, or straight up can’t handle.💯 It’s so true. Man...this video started droppin’ truths about more than just credit cards 💳 ! 👍 Either that, or my philosophical self is seeing meaning in everything now. 😁
6:27 Golden words for me. I like this guy.
This guy is AWESOME! He definitely helped me build out my chase cards and I'm going for business cards next. Shameless plug I just released a video on credit score and how it breaks down I would love feed back and I am just starting out. But fr though Brian is THE MAN hands down.
Thanks Brian! I recently applied for the Chase Freedom unlimited and I've had my Chase Freedom for a month and after that month my score actually went up so I was feeling a little bit confident, maybe too confident I got denied lol
Love your videos man! Got accepted for the gold American Express card next will be the platinum 🤩
I only want five CCs. Last week, I got made it down to one line of Debt left on my Credit Report, so now, I'm looking at rebuilding my Credit Score. Last week, I applied for 4 CCs (on the same day) and was Approved for three. I will wait a few weeks to receive the Cards and begin using them before I start looking around for two more CCs. I was thinking of places like Best Buy, Target, Walmart even, because I Shop at these places the most. Hmm, perhaps a gasoline Card like BO or Amoco ..I'd definitely use that Card. When I was in my 20s, my CCs got way outta control. Once I finally paid them off, I hadn't used one in years. Now, I'm ready to responsibly manage them. Thanks for the Links. I'm only Applying for Cards with No Annual Fee. :)

Hey Brian, thanks for the video. I've been in this game a little over a year and have about a dozen cards at this point. I mostly follow your practice in terms of spacing of applications. I now seem to have hit a brick wall, in that all the cards I am now after have either been denied or it's clear I can't get, because of the issuers' concerns about the number of cards I've opened in the past year or my existing credit limit total. I can't get any BOA or Wells Fargo cards, and Barclay appears to have a 6/24 rule. I've already got all the AMEX cards I want, and most of the Chase cards I want, and Citi apparently won't give welcome bonuses for 24 months if you've recently acquired another Thank You point card. I suppose it won't kill me to take a pause, but it's a bit frustrating. I have a TransUnion score of 829 and keep my pending balances low.

only a year and about a dozen cards?? bruh you need to take the foot off the pedal, that's more than enough cards. If you truly have a score of 829 then you literally are fine, 850 is the max...
I received three hard pulls in the last year. New Years Day - 1st card February - 2nd card And an auto loan just last week. However I got 4 new cards during this time. AmEx pulled for the first card on New Years, then in March didn't pull for my Blue or Gold cards I applied for (and got). February was for a Chase Card. For 12 years I ran a single card, before learning how the credit scoring actually works. And now I went from low 700's (690-710) to low 800's (790-810). With the three hard pulls on my account. Totally worth it!

I usually wait about 6 weeks of I've finished the previous sign up bonus. The shortest I've waited between cards (both Chase) was 3 weeks.

On the topic of "when applying for your next CC," could you please do a video on `how and when to churn CCs` to get the initial bonus of 80,000 to 100,000? Example, if you wanted to churn the CSR card, you need wait four years after the bonus. Then can I assume that after 4 years and 1 months you cancel / downgrade the card , and then a month or two later just re-apply for the same card? Would it be better to perhaps apply for the Preferred card and then after a year upgrade it? A step by step guide to this would be helpful. If I did this with all my Chase CCs, my points would absolutely FLY.
I 👀 you growing out the goat tee, bro!!!👍

I applied for the chase sapphire 2 weeks ago after yrs of not applying for cards and fixing my credit and I got it! my credit score are in the 700s now...I also have an Amex since 2016 that I’m finishing paying and they increased my credit limit a few months ago.... Now I’m trying to hit that shapphire welcome bonus... then I might apply for Amex gold card in dec.. let’s see.. perfect for Christmas...the only thing is that I have a lot of student loans....
Ok you’ve talked me into applying for the CSP lol. I got approved for my last Chase card on 8/7/20 which was 9 weeks ago from today so I think that’s more than enough time. My score is very good and my utilization is excellent so I should be good 🤞

Great video. I’ve learned so much watching your videos. Thanks keep up the great work.
Would love some feedback on my situation. Applied for CareCredit at the beginning of September and was approved for $2,500. Ive been really wanting to get the Amex Gold for personal, and one for my business. How long should I wait for before I apply for these Amex cards?? Also can I apply for my personal and business in the same day? Or should I also wait between those applications?
I hope someone sees this , but I’m just getting into credit building and learning more about it , I currently have a card and it has been open for a little over a year . My score is in the 750s. What would be a good “next step “ card ? Would it be too early to apply for a AMEX Gold?
Exactly the video I needed Brian. Looking into the getting the Freedom after getting the CSR about 5 months ago. Kinda working my way backwards through the chase trifecta it seems haha. Why is whenever I have a specific question about applying for a new card or comparing one card to another, that always seems to be the very next video that you put out!?

I plan on waiting about 3 months before applying for my next card because I applied and was approved for two in the same day last month. In May, I plan on applying for my first Chase card.
How many hard inquires do people in the late game usually have? since inquires usually last about 2 years.
Applied for the Apple Card , Amex gold and the CSR all within the same month. I’ll enjoy my cards and re apply for the Amex platinum and CIC next year next around the same time. Then God willing, dumb down my CIC after the points are earned. I’m new to this credit card game and I’ve had the same cc with a 13k limit for YEARS. So these companies have been on my heels to join them for some time now.
I miss when the page was like this but I respect the growth
Got the BPPR Premia card, Chase Freedom card and amex blue cash card all in 3 - 4 weeks of difference from each other.
There’s no set time limit for me. Rather, I ask myself how useful and beneficial the card I want would be for me.
I'm less worried about hard pulls than I am about the average age of my accounts... What are your thoughts on this? I only app maybe every 6 months or so, sometimes longer. Do you think it would be better to just take the age hit in a short period of time and then garden?
@alexaceves1836

i rather take an age hit, bc even tho your history goes down. your available credit and number of accounts goes up. which outweighs the drop in score depending how old/how many lines of credit you have
This was a gr8 vid, bro. This yr so far I’ve opened 4 new cards. 1 in March 2019, of course my Apple Card in Aug 2019, my Uber Visa this month and my Discover It this month as well. I normally wait til my score gets better and then apply or I just wait monthly. Becuz like u said, if they see that ur applying to too many cards, they high risk ur ass. Lol. But I definitely want an Amex card. But watching ur vidz and hearing all the advice and ur knowledge, I didnt think I could get 4 new accts in the such a short time within the yr. Dude, u rock. Freakin LOVE u and this channel.
Hard Pulls doesn't really affect you, I have 12 cards with 180k worth of credit, average account age is just over 3 years, and my score is 811. With 8 pulls in the last 24 and 6 pulls in the previous 12... no business cards... yet... working on my first one now

my question is should I wait from the inquiry date or the account opening date?
I have a lot of spend coming up before the end of the year. Trying to manage filling up my 5/24 while hitting all the bonuses. IHG, Hyatt and Freedom are what I want. All while finishing off an amex bonus of 3k spend I got 1 month ago, it's so hard not to apply for the other cards.
I've gotten 11 Cards in 4 months. Started the credit card points game May 22 with the CSR and in the past 4 months have gotten the Chase Southwest Priority, IHG, CIP, CIU, CIC, AMEX Plat Biz, Green Biz(upgraded to Plat) Delta Plat Biz, Hilton Honors Biz, and Citibiz AA plat. ive been rejected twice by Chase for 5/24 in the last 6 months. last one about a month ago. they clearly cited 5/24 when i called the Recon line and said that there was no way around 5/24. even the manager said the same thing. I did not go to the store. i do have 2 chase cards but checking or savings with them. All my spending goes through Amex now. i prefer them anyway but wanted the Sign on bonus.

Best is if you can get on business card as debt to income ratio is not a factor for business credit report
I applied for a chase freedom got approved right away and I tried to take advantage of the hard pull and right after tried to get a increase on my freedom unlimited and was denied.. what are your thoughts on this?
I want to buy that cool looking microphone not because I do podcast or actually need it but only because it LOOKS COOL! LoL!
I have been getting cards every 2-3 months since 2015. I space them out getting one business card, then one personal. I spend enough to get the bonus points then move onto another card. I track them all on an excel spreadsheet ensuring that I cancel them before 1 year is up so I don't to pay the fees. I try to space them out so I don't get turned down by chase and keeping track on the spreadsheet helps. Remember only the personal cards count towards the 5/24 rule. But if you have 5 personal cards in 24 months, chase may turn you down for both business and personal cards. I have three cards that don't have annual fees that I have had for 10 years. This helps to keep my credit score high. I like to travel so my goal is to try to never pay for airfare for both me and traveling companion.
good point on the hard inquire, how about if someone hasn’t applied for any cards in about 2.5 yrs and oldest credit line is 6. A new account deff messes up the age of credit how important is that factor ?
@23bgrant
4 жыл бұрын
Cristian a new account would cut your age in about half since you only have 1 card.... but for the long haul you’ll have to do that regardless to get a firm credit foundation to build on. I would look into a card with no annual fee that has decent/good perks so you can keep it for years and build with it.
How high does your credit have to be?
Good info I used to get 4 cards or so every 3 months but now not really getting cards except for business or really good sign up bonus. Trying to get out of chase jail lol

Does 5/24 apply to inquiries or to acceptances by the issuers?
What is the limit on hard inquiries to have a good credit score? And what is the best time of the year to apply and get accepted?
@alexaceves1836
3 жыл бұрын
there’s no real “limit” inquiries/hard pulls aren’t that big of a deal UNLESS you apply for credit too often (every 1 month for example) and that can bring down your score a little bit it can also decrease your chances of getting accepted for the next line of credit. so there’s no real time of the year where they accept more, it’s just an algorithm whether you mean the requirements or not that determines if you get accept
My dad raised my score to an 800 but I don’t have any work history but I want to get a cc to build a business what the best route to go

@sauteedgarlic3237

When you upgrade to a better card you will not receive the sign up bonus. That is because you're simply upgrading and not signing up for a card. Amex also has a lifetime rule where you can only receive the sign up bonus once to prevent credit card churning. Now because you havent received the sign up bonus yet you might be able to cancel your current amex gold card and reopen it. (Asumimg the sign up bonus still applies, call Amex to make sure). It might make sense to do that since the sign up bonus is pretty beefy. You could just apply for the Amex Platinum card and get that sign up bonus as well. But understand there will be a 550 annul fee for that card and you will have to spend 5000 dollars in the first 3 months in order to get the 60k points. When opening the Amex Gold card you have to spend 4000 dollars to get the 50k points. In my opinion I wouldn't downgrade the gold to a green just cause of the 150 dollar annual fee for it.
