In America they could give 18 years old 1 million $ student loans but can deny a full grown working human a 5 k credit card. AND....you can file bankruptcy on credit card debts BUT not on student loans. Yub. Only in America...

Good topic. I always tell people to include everyone in your household. Rather have 3 incomes pair with mortgages vs one income. Valuable
A lender actually told me a technique that helps and is considered acceptable, according to that lender. If you are married or share the expenses for a household, you should not put down your whole rent or mortgage payment. You only put down the portion you are responsible for. For example, if you are married and both of you work, you both are basically paying half. So on the application, you put down half the rent or mortgage when they ask for it since you are only responsible for half of it.

THIS is the kind of content I need. Thank you! I'm just trying to figure out credit cards and ecommerce/side income ideas at the same time, so I don't have a solid income figure to even put down! I'm working a part time and right in the middle of the struggle of trying to see if I can make it in any kind of internet passive-income venture. That's why it actually gave me a relieved breath in my lungs to hear Brian start out with "I wasn't making much money at all and was trying to figure out what to put down as my 'income' on paperwork". EXACTLY! I'm so relieved :D
They usually ask for how much you expect to make. As a student that means that I get to input all forms of financial aid as income, plus part time.
Good idea, I actually accidentally put a 3 instead of a 2 in my income years ago and I was approved for a better rate and a higher limit. I was thinking oh man there coming to get me and I’m going to be arrested. But it was fine... great advice and I love the energy and passion you put into your videos. 👍🏻
I have always lied. Hell when I got my first credit card at 18 I wasn't working at the time but put down that I was an employee with my dads company making 40k a year. ahahaha. I have never paid a penny in interest or any fee's. And I am proud to say that because I have high school friends who are already in credit card debt. Which I simply do not understand how people use money they know they can't pay back.
When he said "sice up" at 3:10 I knew he was from the DMV area lol

In the UK, income is considered any money that you receive on a regular basis (whether it is taxable or not). As a clear example, our student maintenance loans are considered as a source of income because it is a loan that the state gives us. In fact, when applying for my first, I put my student loan (£7,900/$10,130) as my income and got accepted.
It was awesome seeing everyone from the group that are always active!! I should probably start putting a higher income to help get a better credit kind especially with financial aid.

The keyword is algorithm. Check the medium income in your area. Remember, every system uses an algorithm.
It really comes down to your credit score at the end of the day. the higher the better

Yeah a buddy. It translate to you 🤭. I remember Fez thats 70s had a friend name Johny Table
What a great topic. I’ve always wondered about this. I’ve always put my income lower on credit card applications. 🤦♂️
I don't think I've ever filled out that section with correct information. I can vividly remember a time when I responsibly had two credit cards, and I applied for another one just to see if I could get more points. I wrote down that I was a fireman in a city I didn't live in, wrote down a figure that was triple my actual income, and got approved instantly. That was a few years ago. I currently use two-ish cards regularly & have maintained a score in the upper 700's. But I have no idea how many credit cards I actually have right now. Tell them whatever you want. Just be responsible and don't abuse this knowledge.
Because of the possibilities of reviews and point claw backs, I think cash back cards and third party cards are best. By third party, I mean the miles or points immediately go directly to say Marriott or Delta. Don’t think those are clawed back. Are they ?
Is this the same for credit unions? I'm working off the books but last job was catering on the books and told them that
Is Skrill or Payoneer a good Credit Cards? Since that's pretty much the only ones that's fully functional outside of US.
I just couldn’t stop looking at that cat
I love ur vids it's amazing!
I would say, don’t put down what you can’t afford in the future. You should put down what you plan on being your income. Really it depends on how you wish to use your card. If you can afford it, you can always add household income, I wouldn’t add too much income on a card you don’t plan on spending a lot on though, but it wouldn’t hurt considering your not spending a lot on it anyway.
So I’m applying for care credit. Which is a medical credit card to pay off some medical bills. I’m a college student, can I add any grants/scholarships I get as my source of income as well? I also work a part time job.
What I wonder is what would one put down if one have no income (say you are rich and just live of your net worth, so no verifiable income)?
I got denied for the discover it student card too lmao...
Very Good Info!
Sometimes your ability to pay a credit card doesn't equal what your income would suggest. So if you know you can pay, and fully intend to handle your account responsibly, then offering inflated income numbers in order to cross acceptance thresholds is ethically ok since your probability of default is low - Which is what the CC company is trying to determine anyway through cookie-cutter algorithms that don't always tell the whole story.

Businesses often state their income as pro forma income. This is the amount of projected income based upon certain assumptions regarding future activities. This is also a good rule for individuals to be able to estimate their income over the following year.

Does this apply to trying to get a business credit card? I have been out of work for a few years due to my depression and anxiety but I have to get back to living and I was looking into woodworking to make some money as well as starting a candle making business with my sister. My sister struggles with money as it is and I haven’t worked so the money is not there. I have a pretty good credit score (780) and wanted to apply for a business credit card but I don’t have a job so no income and I don’t have a bank account anymore either. I desperately need some help
Should I lie if I’m requesting a credit line increase ?
I wish I had watched this earlier. I applied for the Hilton Honors Amex today because it was on my list from Experian as 83% chance of getting it. I applied because someone on another video said that if they do deny you that you won’t take a hit on your credit. I got turned down and they dinged me 19 points!!!! 😡 I have a $20,000 Car I got on a Fico score of around 600. Fico score was 720 today and can’t get a credit card. WTH? 🤦🏼♀️

It's all perception! How do you see yourself and where you are and where you will be! We have the power to change our income every moment every day! Just do it!
The problem I see with that is the median household income in my area is $74k. I am a single parent with the household income of half of that. Wouldn't that mean I would get denied for every card?
Lol, I remember getting denied to a Wells Fargo student Credit Card. I even bank with them which is the funny part. But it might have been because I had an overdraft fee a few days prior to apply for the credit card, which did not look good. But 2 years has passed and I got instantly approved for the chase freedom unlimited card with a credit lime higher than my monthly income!
My wife is a full time student and she put down my income as her income in her application for capital one venture card. She got approved after we provided our tax return. (We file jointly) Capital one asked for it before they would approve her application. Just an FYI.

No, I have a net worth of over $500k, but an income of only $65k. No way I'm trying to claim an income of $565k, that's not defensible.
I usually count my entire household income (wife works too), plus anticipated dividend income, etc & then I add about 5-10% for good measure. Some people might add more, but sometimes I feel like I’m too honest for my own good lol
