as a tubist myself I can tell you it's insane playing that high - the low ones I'd be able to do with a bit of effort but if I even attempted to hit one of the probably 10 highest notes he did here my lips would probably just burst. I'd also recommend checking out jon sass, he's a bit more unorthodox occasionally. it's not necessarily this register but there's some borderline alien stuff in what he does

The fact he’s standing with the tuba with out a neck strap is an accomplished in its self
As a tuba player myself, first of all bravo! This is an incredible performance! I’m in awe of how well he was able to hit the low B flat (the lowest note that he played). As well as the high notes, which I personally find easier, but are no less impressive.
As a former tuba player…I can confirm this! Crying included!
I saw these guys live a few months ago! Absolutely incredible
This is what the tuba is all about. Being the big, funny guy of the group. I love it
As a fellow Tuba player, Jesus Christ. I just hit a C above the staff this year and this man is over here hitting waaay beyond that. Amazing!
That high note just made my face muscles explode.
The scene is fantastic. The trumpet throwing the ping pong ball, looking at the camera, adjusting a news paper on his music stand... lmao. Gotta love a good show like this.
As a former Tuba player here, some of those notes were just sheerly astronomical!! I've played one song with notes up there and i got through it barely but this man makes it look effortless!! Truly phenomenal!
It’s amazing to hear someone play the Tuba as a virtuoso. They seems to have outlier personalities. I was working on an IT team and one of the managers played tuba in a local philharmonic. He came and played for us. He was shaped like mole man from the Simpsons and kind of looked like him.
This dude’s amazing. I tried to learn a solo piece for Christmas for our church orchestra one year - most of the notes were barely above the staff and I looked like a paralyzed crab trying to hit those things…forget those trombone notes only dogs can hear.
I’ve never heard a tuba played like this. Awesome
So proud that I saw them already live as a kid. I even have his signature ❤️
The tone is wonderful .

1:38 to 1:43 is amazing. I wish I knew more songs with parts like that.
As a follow tuba player (and one of the best in my region, just to brag a little) this is absolutely wonderful. The best instrument ever finally gets the solo it deserves. I will say the notes this guy was pulling off are absolutely incredible. I can barely play above the staff and yet this guy is playing notes higher than I thought was even possible. And then he played really low notes in don’t think I’ve seen before. Us tubist should cherish this moment for ever. I’m so glad that this solo is real.
I've played just enough tuba in my life to know how incredibly difficult this is
As a tubaist those notes above the staff are utterly impossible!!
This is so incredibly impressive as a tubist its hard to put into words

I've watched this 4x in a row now, still amazed!
This is actually one of the best things ive seen in a while, thank you for this opportunity
As a former tuba player, I feel this in my soul.
I don’t think he was crying, more like laughing at the dumb shit going on in the background.
Fantastic piece from start to end. Also nice one from the 'la' at the top and to the darkest note on the bottom. Many octaves between. Found out it's 15 notes between. I reach 1 tone below the 'la' and a half to 1 tone higher than the next low tuba note. Fun to sing together with this
What a great command of your instrument, absolutely beautiful!

Since people are spending so much time talking up the high notes (which is seriously impressive in itself), what surprised me the most was how well he balanced the dynamics of the instrument across the entire range. Keeping the low notes from blasting the audience, not to mention making them so similar in timber... that's what serious talent does for you.
