Tuba player here, I can swear holding such a tessiture and powerful play is stunning, but doing this standing up, without straps, lifting a beast that weighs at least 25 pounds (12 kilogrammes), is totally outstanding. The Guy is a freak, the Superman of tuba players. Greetings, tchuss, sayonara!

Is no one gonna mention how hard it is to hit notes, especially his crazy range of notes, while laughing? This man essentially had to keep a straight face the ENTIRE solo!!! While focusing on playing all of that!!! That just makes it even more insane, this dude is crazy, I have massive respect for him

Having been a tuba player long ago the ultra low notes are a real feat! I remember having to be tested for lung capacity. I miss playing tuba

@@roxorz007 I was a former Tuba player as well, last 3 years of high school, was 1st chair regional, county and youth symphony. Have seen many tuba solos on youtube, and this guy.. wow! His range is exceptional and speed is amazing.

I started playing tuba in my freshman year of high school. The senior tuba player was a girl that weighed 45 kilos. Tiny! We were marching in the Rodeo Queen Parade, a five mile endurance trek. My shoulder hurt! 15 kilos on a bone, bouncing with every step. I might have stopped, except that spunky lass was swinging the bell from side to side, high stepping, and bowing in time to the beat. As a guy who outweighed her by two to one, she inspired me! Turns out the dance moves shift the weight off the shoulder... Also, the drill team marched behind us. We tubas were at the back of the band. Quitting in front of sixty pretty girls was never an option. Heavy metal indeed! When the tubas hit the deep notes, you can feel it in your heart. Best of luck!

One of the musical highlights of my life was when they performed in the Empire Theater here in San Antonio several years back. I heard them play their version of "Mars, The Bringer Of War". Haven't seen or heard that from them since! Next time they're here I'm going to spring for front row center tickets!

I played tuba (and Susaphone) in high school. I can assure you the paper balls in the bell was a real thing.

For anyone who does not play the tuba, you have to essentially frown to get a good tone on tuba. This man stood, playing, as someone took a picture of his ear, on a massive stage, and held a FROWN THE WHOLE TIME. That, in itself, is a huge feat.

These guys are amazing. Probably the best small brass group in the world. Would love to hear them live some time.
