Same thing happened to me after 16 years of marriage. So true they want our supply. After I rejected being friends and getting back together; he become nasty and angry again and attempt to use custody and manipulate me financially on child support during our divorce process.

I said this as a response to someone asking me if I've tried to reconcile with my ex, "How can I expect the truth from a person that has to lie to themselves to exist". They aren't on your side, they have no interest in you unless it benefits them, this isn't a person that can maintain healthy relationships, they create a fantasy that they have to get people to enable into reality to escape the responsibility of their actions. They are mental avoidance/escape artists and do not have the capacity to own the things they have done, If you see a narcissist for who they are you are behind the veil, and trust me when I say once they know you know what they are they wont hesitate to pull out all the stops to smear campaign, devalue, disregard and Obliterate you from their new reality.

My favorite lie I kept hearing was "There is no side!" It's one thing this former male confidant was talking about himself. But when he said it about my siblings, "there IS no SIDE" about my siblings (from a so-called fellow scapegoat), there's another red flag in front of the bull. @@AZDC99 I'm fortunate that warming up to the end of that "Relationship" I noticed she was setting up this new support group of enablers for herself, people that didn't know me at all. She'd been trying to plant some seeds in our shared friends head's warming up to the smear campaign pre-end of Relationship, I'm fortunate I have a good reputation as it clearly didn't match up. It became clear to my friends that she was acting odd, and it inevitably lead to her being caught out cheating and it back fired on her very quickly. But it did add to the severity of her smear campaign, but it was so ridiculous and exaggerated it backfired even more. But it does make me concerned her entire new group of enablers believe all that BS.

He said he wanted to still be friends, said he needed me because I'm a good adviser! 😄 He can ask his many online 'friends'!

My ex asked to be friends, after 8 years together he went off with a girl young enough to be our daughter then had the nerve to ask if we could be friends..! I didn't want to lose him so I let it happen and you know what, he used it to punish and wound me!! Everything got worse!! After my relationship ended I also suddenly realised how many 'friends' in my orbit were actually narcissists too! I was so shocked. Even now nearly 2 years after spilting I've realised I've still got one VERY covert narc friend! I honestly thought I could spot then a mile off but they can be really hard to detect. Narcissism is on the rise and they infiltrate every aspect of life 😳😳😳

Thanks for sharing this. This is exactly what I discovered, that many friends, family I had seemed to have strong narcissistic tendencies. Sometimes it's because we posses qualities these people want to exploit and we probably are not aware that they target us. It's hard, but I have cleaned House and trying to find new friends.

Thank you Andrew. My Narc never wanted a true relationship. He only wanted to be Fwb. It's all he ever talked about. It was one huge insult to me. He told me I was the best lover he ever had. I didn't believe that for a moment. All that you said is true. And it seemed that whenever I felt empowered or have it together, he would reel me back in and did the hot and cold thing. I never met anyone like him in my life and I hope I never do. It was a nightmare. He was so controlling and selfish. I could go on and on about the things he said and done. Hi Trudy, I totally understand because I have experienced the same with my Narc. Every time I was stronger and ready to drop him, and to do the block thing, he would reel me back in with love bombing & manipulation. Now that I’m trying to drop him again, he’s come up with the best manipulation I’ve heard from him - offering me money so I keep him and allow him to continue to abuse me - very cunning, I don’t trust him one bit!

Another reason why the Narcissist wants your friendship is because someone in their social circle has criticised the Narcissist for their behavior towards you. The Narcissist wants to prove to their social circle that they are nice and are friends with you. The fake new friendship is a show for people in the Narcissist's social circle.

Mine begged me to stay in his life WHILE he was discarding me.😂 I did the doorslam. He is so unworthy of my friendship. Good riddence!

My first thought would be no friendship because I will NOT be kept as an option. I also wouldn't want to be demoted to being a friend listening to him moan to me about her. What an insult to Mr that would be! 🍒

Betrayal can not come from your enemies, as you know your enemy, and there is no trust. Betrayal comes like a thief in the night from someone who you trust, and therefore, the discard is so brutal and inhumane. Who wants a friendship with a person who has through a planned deceitful act destroyed that trust? Not me anymore, for sure not!. Through your teachings, I have found peace of mind that my once loving wife, through her despicable brutal destructive act, does not qualify to be my friend, never never never. I like to call narcissist my frenemies because they play both the role of friends as well as enemies. At least I largely prefer to have enemies than to have narcissist as friends because at least enemies are predictable and the way narcissist treated me, even my worse enemy didn't treated me like that. If you have a narcissist as friend, you really don't need enemy.

I lost control one day and screamed at her like a crazy person down the phone to F***K Off and never contact me again, it was awesome!! I am usually a laid-back person, but it was just such baloney. If only I had known what narcissistic abuse was then, I knew I was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship and that she was full of it.

How could we possibly be friends with someone who betrayed us so deeply. I have to continue to work with the ex but fully knowing this person no longer has a peice of my heart or my life helps my day to day dealings.

I fell for this trap a few months ago. SMH. And believe me, NOTHING good came out of it for me. In fact it set me back with all the progress I’ve made. I am now no contact and he is blocked. Please take Andrews advice. It’s not a good idea at all.

Thank you very much for being my compass on this journey to freedom from my narcissistic husband. I will watch this video over and over again to be reminded never to stray from my path of getting away from him for good. We are in the process of legal separation. I thought when this is all over I can consider him as a friend for old times' sake..but you are right. He kept telling me whenever I reminded him to keep and honor his word or promise to others in any way:"I don't care if they are disappointed, I changed my mind, not my problem!" I am so embarrased everytime, visits, meetups, agreements cancelled just at his whim. No friend ever, he wanted to keep me in his cage, love bombed at first, then devaluated and all that stuff, he almost managed to ruin my most valued relationship to my family especially my grownup kids(not his- he doesn't even have contact to his own). And I was his secretary all along, doing all paper works(we are asians living in europe - i'm well versed in the german language, he, not really), been his psychologist - bad childhood, though at 66 you can't forever blame your dead parents for it, nor all others who are to blame for his miserable life and destiny that makes him a super negative being. Thanks to your videos and all out there who help educate us on narcissism, and make us empowered, God bless you! Now I give it all back to him and say to all his pleadings to cancel filing for divorce and/or if i proceed with it, then we should please remain best of friends. You are so right, Andrew, that is why i tell him: " What benefit do I have, if you be my bff? What, you need me to help you here and there? Sorry, wrong number, not my problem anymore!!" That is why i need to watch thos video again and again to remind me, once the door is closed, it will remain closed - to him. For my own wellness' sake. Thank you so much!!! I am so grateful I found you, God is helping us to through you!! Answered prayer indeed!!

Bingo! You said it. They will turn on you on a dime. I used to wonder why my ex-narc couldn't see a medium-ground between us for at least the children's sake. Like I saw my husband and his ex do for their's. But, as time went on I could see clearly that that was never going to happen. And my children became better for it, keeping their biological sperm donor father out of their lives. That's all he became to them as years went by. Just a dark memory of their past.

I don't have to PROVE anything to the narc anymore. I find an amazing amount of freedom in that. I don't have to be what and who they want to prove I have value after they degraded me. They catch you a lot with the proving. There are millions of things I felt I needed to prove to the narc. But as I can feel myself getting away, I feel sudden lack of the need to prove who I am and what I have to offer. I don't know where the people will come from who value me. I guess those relationships will be built on give and take. But I could have some fun by myself exploring who I am. I will simply be like a scout, instead of a runner running after the narcissist🏃‍♀ for love and validation.

I unfriended him on social media immediately because I was so angry and I told him that face to face and then that was it. And he looked almost surprised. As if to say :”c’mon surely it wasn’t that bad!”. Actually now, I’m almost laughing when you say no and don’t. I do this what you say already and I laugh because in a way it’s funny. I now laugh a lot, enjoy myself and have fun! Well at least I can laugh now but before I was so miserable! Anyway, I guess I’m healed!

Yeah…he said ‘you better be nice to me’…what the heck does that mean…I abstained from everything that might have slightly referenced him…! The few times we were within 6 feet of each other…I kept my head down, my eyes down and slowly moved away from him. No coffee or conversation with him. I’m done…!

Thanks, Andrew. When there are children involved it would be beneficial if both parties could be civil. That didn't happen, either. There is something in the Ancient writings that says, to the effect, that once they have been elsewhere, fishing in other people's ponds, to never take them back. For myself, the yuck-factor never lifted.

I'm now independent & educated & now have bondaries & when they behave inapropiate, I immidiately react in a annoyed or saddened manner, " I dont like being treated this way!" & they see it, but they still dont change!

As I was divorcing her …… at the end she suggested that in the future she would like to still come over in the future for “ sleep overs “ . I reacted calmly and very grey rockish . My immediate thought was no way in hell. Shortly after she exited I adopted a cat ( she absolutely hates cats ) . Made sure she knew by posting pics on Facebook so her flying monkeys would see. Blocked in every way shape and form.

I remember back in 1998 when I was 23 I befriended a male friend which I ended up living with for a few months,we would have conversations if I didn't agree with him he become angry, he would make petty dramas,was a liar, manipulator, user,when I look back he was a paranoid Narc.

After two-and-a-half years after he proposed to me after after 30 years of him being an alcoholic him only turning 50 when he discarded me in the most horrific way he said at that moment he still wanted to be friends he still wanted to talk to me . I've been a no-contact but here it is a year and 3 months after and I still am having a self-educate washing videos crying in my bedroom while I'm trying to maintain dignity and move forward in my life in a positive manner but I still think about him all the time and I still cry

Most channels and online content on Narcissism focus on the romantic Narc relationships, which is great to see and probably the most damaging to individuals. However, we can't over look the family, professional (teachers) and friendship relationships as these can be almost or is some cases more damaging. Try growing up with a Narcissistic mother for instance and what is hard about these relationships is that it can be even harder to detect until you get much older and more mature or a stressful situation between two friends brings it out such as moving in together and you didn't realize your best friends is a Narc. I realize that I have been a "Narc Magnet" my whole life as I possess the qualities these people gravitate to. A thief steals your wallet and runs away, A Narcissist steals your wallet and then helps you look for it, you don't want these people in your life in any capacity or Grey Rock for very low contact only. If you wear your low self esteem, co-dependency or empathic nature, they will try to infiltrate and exploit. I'm still learning and trying my best. Thanks for a great video

Yes, my ex wanted to be friends after I left the last time, I told him, that the time he should have been a friend was when we together. NO! Is the answer.

Yes that’s how it’s created, the trap to reel you in. Be super friendly and have lots in common, always be sure to point that out. Then it becomes more intimate, I have feelings for and I am going with my intuition-talk about how things are becoming romantic, it’s meant to be-and then BAM! Straight into detailed what they want to do with you because they are sure you have handed yourself over or are on the verge of. Yikes! But you are kept on the slow burning friendship ring because they are juggling others for a quick fix. They wanted you around longer term but always for supply and the one they crave the most. So unless you really 100% banish and block them they will come back again and again.

🤔 There is *one* good use for narcissists... They propel us to a higher path in life and inspire tremendous spiritual growth.

The narcissist asked me to be his friend. I felt so hurt from being the love of his life to his friend. It only reconfirmed everything was fake and lies. I was his fool. I used the opportunity to hit back and tell him he was a narcissist and he had used me for my love and money. I then blocked! True words Andrew.😊👋👌
