Great video, Jane! Losing the landline as a plot device has been hard on contemporary mystery writers. 🙂

I haven't seen that show, but no matter how good an athlete is, running down that many stairs would leave him winded. If the suspect was able to breathe and talk, once down in the bar, the detective had it all wrong. I'd make the real killer the window washer, who would casually wave at the detective, then go down slowly, doing his job. :) Jon in rural BC, Canada

I just read The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie and it’s a (spoiler) DOUBLE (maybe triple?) place shifted murder! It was so wild!

awesome video, as always. It's really great how deeply you analyze different shows. Maybe you will be intrested in japanese series Furuhata Ninzaburo, it's a lot like monk and Columbo.

Here’s my story: A movie director plans to kill his brother to inherit his uncle’s wealth so how does he do that? He knocks his brother unconscious and shoots him in his uncle’s chair with a silencer (to make it look like someone tried to kill his uncle) and he also has a little trick up his sleeve, he gave his brother a watch with he put a tiny chip in it, so at 2:00, two recorded gunshots would be heard and the director would be outside of the building when that happened. Also, sorry for not commenting sooner, you posted this when I was on a 7 hour plane ride

I have to ask...In Murder by the Book, everyone might think the murder took place in the office, but how do they explain that the body isn't in the office?

The villain drives the body, in the trunk of the car, back to town and puts it on the Victim’s lawn. His narrative is that his partner was killed by organized crime members who wanted to stop him from writing a book about their criminal activities. So, the body on the lawn is meant to look like a show of power.

@@janekalmes Thanks. I can see that particular actor telling the narrative about organized crime. It would just suit his onscreen personality LOL. I will definitely have to look up that show one day with all this free time I (DON'T) have. 😁

For an example of the 3rd type of alibi in a murder. the killer tricked everyone into thinking they were in a cruise ship that locked at night the killer and the victim stayed outside all night and the killer set up his trick. The murder took place in a bell tower so there's only one way out. The sleuth arrives after getting a distress message and runs in the victim flys into the air before plummeting back to the ground the sleuth runs up the stairs to see the patsy laying at the top. The killer used a bungie cord attached to the victim to safely fall down to the bottom of the tower and made their escape. P.S. I didn't make this case all credit goes to the creators of Super Danganronpa 2 another.
