My cousin finds that sometimes it's the food coloring that will mess up the texture of the fondant he uses when catering. I eat it regardless 🤣, but there are some colors that make it feel a bit differently than normal.

I was given the advice once when you need black fondant use cocoa powder and then paint the cake black which also helps to prevent your customers and guests from the dreadful black mouth after eating it. I've done this a few times and it took a bit of practice but it does work, I would say it's worth a try.

we have that problem in the bakery all the time. you either played with it for too long or its hot where youre woking so the fondant softened too much. just add more powdered sugar to it or chill it if u have time :)

But why is this so relatable for making pasta though, too? Got a sibling that has a really restrictive diet due to allergies, and eggs and wheat are two of many that they have. But they love pasta and I'm always trying new alternative flours and binding agents out to make it for them, and it gets to a point where you can kind of just tell if it will cooperate or not. Looks exactly how your fondant wad behaving, lmao. Especially when doing different little shapes and such to jazz it up even if it doesn’t change their diet much. The similarity is interesting, especially when I cook more savory than sweet.

I had this happen with my son's wedding cake, the night before the nuptials. I was out of my mind, thinking I was going to have to find a luxury bakery and buy a replacement wedding cake. I emptied out the top shelf of my freezer, threw all of the fondant in there on top of parchment, took out a piece at a time and panelled the cake tier. It worked but man oh man oh the stress!

Have you tried using modeling chocolate? I think that's what it's called but Natalie Sideserf uses it a lot. Check out her stuff! She makes amazing cakes that don't look like cakes! Lol.

Yesterday I made the most MONSTROUS Jack o lantern light up cake! Literally, the bottom looked so bad where I’d overcooked the chocolate and it wouldn’t drizzle 😢 but I thought of ur vids when making a big fondant covered cake pop for the top and it worked! ❤

Sometimes it’s because of the humidity the temperature is just so unpredictable this happens when i make macaroons sometimes they dry out and sometimes they don’t sometimes theres a foot and sometimes theres a crack. But us bakers know how to figure thing out and fast just like mimo did lets go mimo nice job. 😊

I was told that if fondant is acting wonky it's either a combo of humidity and the coloring in the fondant OR the fondant is "older" like not spoiled but close to the exp date.

Hi love, I would love to do one. Next time my airbrush I will definitely record it. In the summertime I airbrush outside of my patio door because it will definitely get inside all over the entire house. You won’t even recognize it or realize it until one day or just wiping dust and you see an array of colors all over the place. I learned that the hard way so I never airbrush inside the house. In the winter time I airbrush in my garage
