The whole time, the video could have taken place in a mansion, but the simple fact that he was questioning why there were chandeliers because "this is like, a warehouse" just shows how much power improv can have when the final product is animated after the fact.

As well he SHOULD be! Don't forget, he is USED to his henchmen failing him, over and over and over again. These two actually succeeding, from his perspective, that is a MONUMENTAL occasion! Of COURSE he's going to be nice to his two henchmen who took care of his one and only threat that was taking down his whole operation! If any of his henchmen survived after failing, normally an evil mastermind would be "you have FAILED me for the LAST TIME!" and then he would press a big red button and a hole would open up in the floor beneath them and then they'd fall into a shark tank or something. But this time, THIS time is really something SPECIAL from his perspective, don't you think? Of COURSE he's going to be kind to his two heroes who saved his whole business!

@@ivanstrydom8417 I can appreciate either form of sarcasm, but I think Joel's secret is that the intention behind what you call awkwardness isn't to create humouristic effects, but simply to focus on what's important without shame about the limitations of the production setting (and then emphasise this stance by leaving in imperfect line deliveries and the like). Joel seems like the type of (film) artist who is really intent on showing off his (and his team's) direction/camera/screenplay skills to the point where he completely disregards the potential polish for it, because the core of the message already has so much to offer, and he would rather produce volume of that to give his audience something to find that they like, and to show off all sorts of styles of film genre to present and stories to tell, than invest everyone's time and effort into details and have every production take five times as long to complete. The honesty of that message helps make the presentation as clumsy self-aware humour less desparate than it would be in something like the Office, or KZread channels made by 16-year-olds trying to force an easy laugh by "random and loud is funny".
