Every year the league is won by the best team over the course of the season. That’s not a miracle -it’s just football? Predicting Leicester winning it before the season started would have been somewhat miraculous - I didn’t believe they’d actually win it until they beat Man City away. Leicester showed exceptional form to avoid relegation in the last 9 games of the previous season and were the best team in the league 2015/16 by 10 points.

TBF 2016-2017 spurs is crazy.

Tbf we were focusing on the ucl and got robbed against Atletico Madrid. The foul was never inside the box and that penalty cost us the competitio

That season was so strange. A lot of clubs you’d think stand no chance today were in the league, and while hull, boro and Sunderland were relegated, West Brom and Bournemouth somehow finished top half, Everton was 7th and spurs finished 2nd behind Chelsea,and Southampton finished 8th… with 12 wins, 10 draws, 16 losses and -7 g/d 😭 and ofc the horrific title defence from Leicester Oh, and 2 points separated Southampton from Stoke in 13th place, honestly amazing

Back when kane scored 7 goals in the final 2 games to win the golden boot by 4. Legend

That game was pretty much a insignificant game for us. We had already made sure that we survived at the PL and it was in the end of the season.

Ok Leicester fan here, this game happened in May that season when our season was basically dead in the water already, the players minds were already on holiday. Secondly, I wouldn't call it the worst champions defeat ever, I mean United lost 6-1 to City when they were champions, getting hammered by your rivals in worse in my opinion. Stilll losing 6-1 is pretty inexcusable though.

I attended that match with my newly wedded wife we have been ticket holders since 2014/15 premier league season. I felt this was their revenge in failing to win the league. As soon as they scored their fourth goal we left.

Didn’t Leicester get further than every other English team in the UCL?

Last season Napoli got beaten by Milan 0-4 as they were already champions.

That game was practically the end of the season, they had nothing to play for so they didn't care what the score was, with what 6 games left, they were safe from religation, and they had injuries with a makeshift defence.

Can think of hundreds of more shocking results than this. Leicester looked liked they were getting relegated before Ranieri got sacked. Bookies had them at 6/4 for the drop. So it’s not really a shock to see a team in that position lose 1-6.

In 14/15 Chelsea was winning the league an finished as 10th the season after. Just to become champions again in 16/17 and bottled it again at 5th place in 17/18.

Nobody expected Leicester to do well they sold their best players except for Vardy.

Could be worse. Could be a saints fan like me. We got done 9-0 twice. The game against Man United should be written off though as we played a side of academy players rather than cheating with cancelling games when key players were missing like other teams through Covid.

To be fair, Leicesters championship winning team got ram raided that summer, they lost a number of key players (Kante, Marhez, Drinkwater, etc….)
