@@ermosazorius4279 I don't think Velcro is new, I got those damn star spiked prickles in my wool socks and they stuck together like velco so well I tore them apart and put them back together repeatedly in amazement at how much it was just like velco. Just need a wool jacket and collect some of those prickles and rub them in along the front and instant Velco wool jacket that could be made at any point in history.

Can confirm. I've been doing left side archery (notice how left is literally the opposite of "right", as in, the opposite of "correct", by the way) for years and you won't really start noticing the injuries until they have been building up for a while. After I did it for exactly 3 years, 127 days and 3 and a half hours, my left forearm was sliced open by the string, my back developed hernias in 4 different discs and my left bollock (notice how it wasn't the right one) burst into flames. They're literally teaching people to harm themselves. This madness must come to an end.

I'm so glad I saw this. I was training my dog to fire a bow, and he kept trying to use the wrong side. This may have saved his life and kept my dog insurance premiums manageable. He still insists on painting archers inaccurately, he just claims "artistic license" and keeps doing it though. Guess we can't win them all.

I love that he took every opportunity he got to mention the poundage of his bow. What a legend

I know that here in America, artists are always confusing which side of the car to put the Driver on when they include cars in their paintings or sketches. I mean, they themselves aren't driving experts, and mainly just see other people drive, so little things like whether the cars have the steering wheel on the right or the left, or which side of the road people drive on get past them on a regular basis.....

Mr. Brooks has not taken into account that he is shooting his bow on the southern hemisphere. This means shooting on the right side works. On the other hand, when in Europe, on the norther hemisphere, you have to shoot on the left side.

I was at a Renaissance faire a while back and there was an archery booth/range. It was a slow time of day for them and I was the only one shooting. They almost gave me no instruction on how to shoot, so I took the opportunity to try a pinch grip and instinctive shooting from the hip. After a four shots, one of them noticed and told me to use the three finger grip, because it was dangerous to do anything even a tiny bit different from the orthodox style. I had the last arrow on the bow as they told me they needed me to shoot a certain way for insurance purposes. I looked at them dumbfounded for a second, before simply loosing my arrow at the target the way I wanted to and walking away

Part of the problem is that two out of three of the pieces of art that he shows are somewhat self-contradicting. I've seen his actual arguments on this subject, and his reactions to criticism (deserved or undeserved) in the past, and I'm irritated that he's ignoring the very real concerns and arguments regarding the potential of his shooting form to cause injury with heavy draw weights in favor of throwing insults and generalizations at anyone who disagrees with him on this for any reason whatsoever. What makes it even worse is that I genuinely enjoyed and learned some things from a lot of his past content. He's just stumbled onto war archery, though, and doesn't even seem to have read anything about technique beyond different ways to grip the string, much less looked at the biomechanics of a proper draw in depth...yet all of his video titles on the subject read like the unholy offspring of clickbait and the Dunning-Kruger Effect. The bottom line is that I'm trying to help him avoid seriously injuring himself, and he's busy calling a significant portion of the archery community idiots without actually considering what they have to say.

This had enough sarcasm in it to make a British man proud Now let's talk about this worthless archer called shad...

I had no idea that this was controversial in the archery community before I saw Shad's videos on this. This argument is just as, if not more, ridiculous that the AR vs AK or Modern vs Historical arguments in the firearms community.

Nonono the ONLY way Shooting a bow is cleary upside down while swinging on a rope around your neck! Any other technique overstrains your cervix muscles so you can't take a crap in high age anymore!

@Chris George For the most part, yes, particularly for revolvers. It was the standard when I started shooting, and is STILL the method taught by the U.S. Army, so it has some merit, but I believe the double-fist grip to be superior for recoil control.

The injury argument is the one that really grinds my gears. "We don't have a long enough test period to prove it won't hurt people." Oh, if only we had hundreds of years of history proving people did it...

@@mortenjacobsen5673 If the chance of injury worries you, then you might as well not do it at all. You can get hurt doing anything. The point is that shooting on the left or the right have both been done for hundreds of years, and both have the same chance of injury, so it should not be used to dismiss Shads archery.

How on earth did you film this with a straight face or without laughing? (Also what was the poundage of the bow? I dont think you mentioned it)

This whole archery debacle has made me lose respect for the entire sport. I come from an MMA background, and most guys I train with are meatheads that love to lift as well. So when people act like pulling back 100lbs from a bow is going to snap your arm just because the arrow is on the "wrong side"....I can't really take them seriously. I know people that can curl that weight, and throw a 150lbs person halfway across a room. When people say shit like this, it makes me believe that it's because the entire sport is full of people with very little athletic prowess.

Have you seen the guys saying hes wrong to shoot this way? You are absolutely right; most have the physique of hardcore gamers and think you have to look llike Thor to shoot a 100lbs bow. They say this because most of them have never trained in a new skill that requires above average physical aptitude.

I'm in a similar position to you, but find it extra funny because it just reminds me of traditional martial artists who claim their sports are superior, yet can rarely stand their own in an MMA competition against any other martial art. There's always some excuse.

Solid Structure was just talking about having the strength to pull the bowstring back, saying that if a hundred pounds is too much for people--they lack athletic prowess. You apply lifting techniques to lifting, archery techniques to archery.

300 IQ logic: "If the art shows the correct method, it's correct, therefore it's accurate and we know that the method they show is 100% correct."

I feel like this is whole situation similar to when James Cameron was filming avatar and came up with that unique way the Navi draw their bows and when an archery expert they had brought in said it can’t be done that way, Cameron picks up the bow and bullseyes the target using the “Navi” style.

The RealButcher (Peter from Holland) I believe so, Cameron had been practicing the technique, which was really just rotating your drawing hand so that your palm faced outward, ultimately just a style choice with no real affect on firing, just shows how stuck up these archery experts are apparently
