I feel like where we are now with bulletproof blocks and better single turbos you beat the shortcomings when compared with the bigger I6 blocks of that gen cos you get the acceleration of a straight 4 and weight with as good top end now cos the turbo

Must say, found the RX7 (and its driver) the most impressive. First time in a long time, I've seen someone really actually drive an RX7 like that and the car looks like 700bhp (rather then just being a claim, where its never used). Fair play to you sir 👍 and the other 3 cars too - great watching!

I remember the days. Hehe. That movie came out in middle school for me, with one of my teachers playing it for us. I've seen 350HP RX-7 roast those "JDM Legends" you talk about on the track with 500hp~600hp. A lot of people don't know about Rotary Engines & how much of a pure sports car the RX-7 is with it's light weight & 50/50 weight distribution.

Seeing those legendary JDM machines on one track is a dream come true! 🚗💨 Luke's S15 and that RX7 stole the show, but let's not forget AFFI's launch with the R34 GTR. Each car has its own charm and story. Jamie, you've outdone yourself with this content, making our Sunday mornings unforgettable. Can't wait for a rematch! 🔥🔥🔥

Jamie’s the man. This is the video so many of us in our 30s have been waiting for. We all grew up drooling over these 4 icons. As sacrilegious as this might sound, Luke’s S15 would be the one want to be driving lol. You can see the weight different from the Silvia and rx7 compared to Godzilla and the Supra. Featherweight vs heavyweight fights here brotha. The sounds of all those cars from the super view point on the first drag was nuts.

Honestly, that first roll race I was throwing the flag at the R34 driver. He rolled up, already doing like 30kph faster than the rest, and just nailed it when they did. That was a cheat shot, and Luke still ran him down.

Particularly in the standing launches, watch how much better the S15 guy makes use of his boost and clutch than anyone else, particularly the R34 and RX7 really allow themselves to bog off the line. Slip the clutch more and keep it in boost when ALL of your power comes from a bloody big turbo or rotary howler...

Man the Skyline is such a beautiful car.

Want the Rx7 i have 1 back at home in South Africa and 2 rx8s also.. just love the rotary engines.. builded a few and still want more!!! Now i am in the Netherlands and want to start doing rotaries here aswell.. the Rx7 put up a great fight!!!

Luke honestly knows his car so well, you'd think they grew up together 😁

Kinda thought the s15 would be hard to beat. It’s one thing to get the car mapped right with the horsepower. But building a car yourself you know inside out and being able to setup the suspension tyres, camber angle etc… that’s what gives you the edge. And that silver is setup very well. And Luke drives it hard so top marks for him. Out of all four I’d have the Skyline just because I’ve always wanted one. Midnight purple for me.

I would love to see an independent Dyno pull on the S 15. Either it’s got a bit more horsepower or a significant weight advantage. It was interesting with the turbos to see the smaller displacement, cars kicking, but on the motors that were nearly twice their size.

Fantastic video Jamie, really like the car wow style where you go through all the stats and give us the overview on the cars. The owner interviews are cool but I like them a lot more on the POV drives, than the start of drag races. I find myself skipping through a lot of the build interview process with the owners on these videos and watching the races

Not an R34 fanboy(was rooting for the FD from the start lol) but I feel like this would be wildly different if that was a GT-R. I guess they were going for all RWD to even it up.

This race was truly amazing, definitely truly amazing, I was rooting for the R34 but all cars were gorgeous and awe inspiring, always wanted to see a race like this 👌👌
