MAN I WAS HURT THAT THE LAKERS BEAT THE SIXERS.THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THEY BEAT THEM.HOWEVER THAT 1983 SEASON,I FELT REDEEMED WHEN THE LAKERS GOT SWEPT BY THE SIXERS WHEN THEY WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP.GREAT RIVALRY BETWEEN 2 LEGENDARY TEAMS.I MISS THE 80'S ERA.

The following year, the 76ers would had Moses. From there, Moses and Julius would sweep the lakers in the 1983 finals.

Back then every seasons the Celtics or Lakers add a player of quality to there rosters the Sixers never did and they get better the Sixers did add a quality player to win it all till they got Moses the rest is history.

One thing is for sure..these early 80s Lakers teams had too much firepower,,just realise that Mcadoo 3 time scoring champion was the sixth man..The Sixers were missing one piece..as for the people here in the commnets considering two teams notorious for relentless fast break as bad defense they surely are clueless about this game..Regarding DR J apart the amasing Highlights and finishes on the highest level as always, just see how evolved he was in the offensive boards and stealing the ball witch is characteristic feature in his career stats anyway..Dr J must be the only player that would guarantee 5 amasing highlights in each and every game..i counted six per game in ecf with the Celtics and similar 6 per game in the finals against the Lakers in 1980..here he had just 3 but the move on Kareem and the Backwards finish were awesome!

If Kupchak hadn't blown out his knee, added Worthy, kept McAdoo, the Lakers may have swept through the 80's.

Magic was great but Kareem was still best player on Lakers loaded team with another former league mvp on it in Bob McAdoo. Julius Erving is at the end of his prime and is best player on the court.
