I will always say this: locs are character building. Can you stick with them when they are ugly, can you persevere through the days when people are telling you they don’t seem to be your “look”? Start your locs and prepare to question what you value about yourself and your concepts of beauty, muscle through to that day you wake up to say, “ huh, my hair looks good today, I really look good today”. That day will be fantastic.

@njasine it’s going great, I have my moments of being discouraged but I realize Jehovah is in control, not me. Once I surrendered on this journey it has been a lot easier. Patients my brother and prayer & speak it in existence “ I will have a beautiful full head of healthy locs in the name of Jesus !!!

Out of all the Loc videos I watched today, this one got me the most motivated to get my journey started 💯
Man the best advice you gave was about knowing it’s time for a change … man I’m in that exact place right now and this was my sign to loc my hair
I’m in the same phase of my life you just described. I get it. For me, I know there is more in me, but there was a disconnect. I need this dreadlock journey.

Just subscribed. You most definitely hit it on the nail. I started mine on Thursday. I wanted a change for sure and a chance to be much more consistent with something
Hey my name is Britain and I'm a professional Tekken player from Las Vegas. I definitely understand how you felt when you was down. This year was the worst year of my life. I'm actually growing my hair out. And it's far enough to the point that I can literally see the top of my hair. You really just made me feel better on how to focus in life. Thanks brother. You just earned a sub

Just saw this. Good to see you doing you thing Billy. GPTX
I am 3 months in and the ugly stage is really breaking me down. I am definitely in this for the long haul so I’m looking forward to the part when I begin to feel like my dreads are building me back up.

Shahee Sharief, I feel you. My kids were in a school when I had started my locks, one of the teachers made a gesture from across a room like she was saying, “ What is up with your hair?” I had to take my kids out of that school, but a year later I was back in the neighborhood and re-enrolled them. That same teacher was across the room giving me a thumbs up sign. Locs are character building, cause that ugly stage is rough, but one day you wake up and suddenly your hair is just like you always wanted it.

Wale is that you? 😂 thanks for the vid I’m starting my dreads in a couple of months
Thank you! For this video.
Man, I’ve had dreads before. I’m planning on getting them again. Right now, I am using the sponge method right now until it gets longer. My only problem I think I’ll have is me sweating every day. I live in Florida, plus I work outside all day. As of now, I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to deal with that. I’m from California. I NEVER had that sweating problem 😂. It’s the humidity out here. As of now, I’d say my hair is about an inch right now. My plan is to wait until December, or January when the temperature drops. I’m definitely looking forward to it. My wife DEFINITELY don’t want me to grow them back 😂. She’s white so🤷🏽♂️. I’m growing them for my 12 year old daughter. Mainly because she saw my old pictures of me with dreads. She loved it. And of course I’m doing it for myself. So excited🤙🏽.

Depends on what type of climate you live in but the best time is the winter time because you were not sweat as much so they will not sweat out due to the weather starting mines in the winter time six years ago first two times I tried in the summertime did not work because of the heat
Glad to see you still loc’d bro. Our hair is roughly the same length. I remember getting my hair loc’d at the same time. Lit.

Im actually going through the same exact phase that he talked about... Even the cornrows for a week for the first time. I just got my hair twisted 2 days ago, was working extremely hard, now about to go on vacation. Hopefully I don't mess my hair up. Lol... Really and truly, I feel like I'm on a new journey to something great. Better days🙌🙌🙌

Jesus is the way my brother.....
I like twists but will NOT keep them in my head forever (2 months) I take my hair "down" after about 2 to 3 weeks. Congratulate me for that because I used to wash my hair every 2 days! I have the sponge hairstyle and it lasts long enough, ie 2 to 3 weeks. Love this informative video ♥️.

Wait. If it's twisted you have to retwist it every 2 weeks?
My locs starting to thin can I get them repaired or I gotta start over
What’s up Bro, I started at 3-4 inches at that length your hair will not come unraveled as easy. Plus, the extra length will help weigh your hair down to preventing it from sticking up if you wear du rag.
I’m about to join the loc community anybody got good advice?
