LYRICS:
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ my God
All the vain things that charm me most
I sacrifice them to His blood
See from His head, His hands, His feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all

I am Chinese. By the grace of God, I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at age 42 20 years ago. I read the Holy Bible and pray to the Lord daily. I now have true peace, joy and the assurance of salvation. I will live to glorify the Lord for the rest of my life. Hallelujah. Thanks be to the Lord my God and Savior Jesus Christ.

I searched and searched, for 40 years, i searched for the truth to life.. I looked in every dark corner and hunted down ghosts for the answers to what's to come. I experienced good things in my childhood, but grew up and went to war to see the bad. Life is about the good, and the bad. It's demanded from us all, whether we like it or not. We all have that bad side that won't leave us alone. Terrorizes us most when we are alone with our thoughts. So why not face those fears and look it in the eyes and experience every side of it all, before it's all over. To really find out what it's all about, I searched through the darkness, only to find the light. Jesus always seeks out the lost. He truly is a shepherd of God. My story of how I came to believe, for a fact, that the history the Bible teaches is true, is truly paranormal. God bless the lost and the suffering- Jesus hold their hand and guide them home. Amen. 🙏

When I was a teenager, our church youth group would have a "sing-song" on a Sunday evening every couple of months. It was a time of worship through singing. Our Youth Pastor would often end those sing-songs with "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" sung to this tune. Sometimes I would also help lead by playing my guitar, and I loved this version. It's the only song I remember how to play from those old sing-songs. That was around 1984. I don't know where the tune came from or where my Youth Pastor heard it, but it was wonderful. The music is beautiful, and the words are beautiful: Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

I know this is an old comment but just for anyone interested-this tune is from a Scottish (I think) folk song called “The Water is Wide.” Beautiful tune and I was so happy to hear it combined with these lyrics. I didn’t realize people were singing them together that long ago! Thanks for sharing.

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

O waly waly is an English folk tune. For those who live in Wales THE tune to use is MORTE CHRISTE……in my opinion it is hard to beat for the words. The main thing is that the tune serves the great words and not the words serve the tune - the words need to be ever fresh and if O a waly waly helps to that end then well and good!

Lyrics: When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of glory died My richest gain I count but loss And pour contempt on all my pride . Forbid it Lord, that I should boast Save in the death of Christ my God All the vain things that charm me most I sacrifice them to His blood . See from His head, His hands, His feet Sorrow and love flow mingled down Did e'er such love and sorrow meet? Or thorns compose so rich a crown? . Were the whole realm of nature mine That were an offering (that were an offering) far too small Love so amazing, so divine Demands my soul, my life, my all . Ketika saya mengamati salib yang menakjubkan Di mana Pangeran kemuliaan meninggal Keuntungan terkaya saya, saya menghitung tetapi kerugian Dan menuangkan penghinaan pada semua harga diri saya Laranglah, Tuhan, bahwa saya harus bermegah, Selamatkan dalam kematian Kristus, Allahku, Semua hal sia-sia yang paling mempesona saya, saya korbankan mereka untuk darah-Nya Lihat dari kepala-Nya, tangan-Nya, kaki-Nya Kesedihan dan aliran cinta bercampur Apakah cinta dan kesedihan seperti itu pernah bertemu Atau duri membentuk mahkota yang begitu kaya Apakah seluruh alam milikku Itu adalah persembahan yang terlalu kecil Cinta begitu menakjubkan, begitu ilahi Menuntut jiwaku, hidupku, semua milikku Cinta begitu menakjubkan, begitu ilahi Menuntut jiwaku, hidupku, semua milikku

You do realize that some of the hymns of which you speak *were* written to the secular tunes of that era, right? Gospel words to old bar tunes. It is a true fact, and easily researched. And why only old hyms?? Are you implying that people of today are incapable of writing songs of worship?? Or that they are any less a praise to God because they were written in the modern era? Why or why not? Or is it because it isn't a style of music you personally prefer? Only God truly knows the heart of a person, and it is certainly not your place to judge their motivation, or their standing with the Lord. Curious about the point you're trying to make.

@@meganbennett2144 let me try to show what I think. The lyrics are poems, they're carefully made and with respect to God. I know a lot of hymns done recently that are really good, the thing is, Is not the norm! Obviously we are not in a competition, is just that is natural that after each day that passes the apostasy will be stronger, and from the christians will more and more appear opportunists trying to change the whole point of the Bible: Jesus Christ. The most famous hymns of this time are incapable of saying the simplest message, that Jesus died and resurrected. In this is our hope. You can disagree with me, but not with the bible. The bible says that the Christendom will not get better, only worse. If you see a hymn that contains the truth, it will not matter when it was made, but for whom. So, careful, is better to be in the fundament of the Bible and from this you can judge everything you see, be it old or new. One question, do you think you're a good person?

@@alexandreperusio1303 To answer your question, none of us is "good", my self included. We are all born sinners. I am a born again Christian, saved thru faith, by grace, thru the shedding of the blood of the one and only Son of God, Jesus Christ. I do agree that worship music needs to have meaning. I disagree that modern music lacks speaking of salvation. Yes, there is a lot of "fluff" music out there, but that is not what I was referring to. OP basically condemned all modern musicians & their music. THAT is what I was questioning.

This channel is a blessing known to God before the world was made. Ephesians 1:1-14. Oh Lord bless this channel. I will pray for you and those gathered here. There is a Crown in Heaven awaiting all who faithfully share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a soul is saved. ("JESUS SAVES" below) 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20; Philippians 4:1. " For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? 20 For you are our glory and joy." The Apostle Paul further testified; Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek". 2 Samuel chapter 22:verse 50 "Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, out of the countries, and I will praise your name." Mark 16: verse 15: "And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." How can anyone hear the "good" news? Romans 10:17 "Then faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God." The Birth Of Jesus Christ Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal, the body was mutilated, the blood was poured out, but the bones were not broken, buried in a Tomb and risen on the 3rd day. Isaiah 53: "5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 "I am the way, the truth and the life: no one comes to the Father except through me." John 14.6 1 Corinthians 15: "1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;." Ephesians 1:7 “For he (God) hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5: 21. Romans 5:8 " But God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, now justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath through him." Matthew 26: 28 "For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (the life is in the blood. He had to pay with His life) Ephesians 2:8 " For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting in the shedding of His blood and death as payment for our sins, as well as in His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day, and we will be saved! John 20:24-31; See 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4. Romans 10: "9 If you confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart man believes in righteousness; And a confession by mouth is given to salvation. 13 For the one who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Salvation and forgiveness of sins is a blessing of all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We receive the baptism of God the Holy Spirit immediately which permanently seals us in Christ. Ephesians 1:13-14. Those who reject salvation, "perish"(John 3:16) which means their sins are judged and they suffer separation from God forever called the second death. Rev.21:8
