Any bird that WALKS into a room has already proven a willingness to adhere to our human norms. It's the flying that's an issue, because I can't do that very well.

I worked in a hotel with a large atrium. A bird got in one time and hung out there for like two weeks. There was a restaurant in the hotel and the bird would pick leftovers off people’s plates. Every time we saw it we were supposed to call maintenance who would show up with a comically large net and attempt to catch the bird.

emperor penguins can get up to past 1 meter in height. If that walked into my room I'd probably climb up onto the bed until I figure out wtf was happening. Probably wouldn't harm me but until I figured out what was up my heart rate would probably spike.

When the notification came up I thought the title was "When can birds be inside me?", which I thought would be a perfectly normal thing for MBMBAM to be discussing. Different discussion than this, but still within the realm of possibility, topical with Thanksgiving coming up and thoroughly enjoyable.

I work in a coffee shop in a touristy location, so a lot of pigeons around (people feeding them for tourist pictures etc). Because we have pastries in the window, pigeons will constantly just straight up walk in through the front door. You don't even have to chase them, when they see you you just kinda politely walk them out.

Referring to the dog line? I think that was the point, pointing at a guy that just politely waddles around in a tuxedo and still just calling it “a bird” is like if there was one dog that could fly around but you still lumped it in with all dogs.

I remember when I was a little tiny child, I actually thought birds just....Belonged in Walmarts because I would always see at least 1 hanging out in the rafters everytime we went. Young me just saw them and went "yes that is where birds belong this makes sense" and if I went to a Walmart and DIDNT see a bird Id feel super weird and upset (which looking back MAY have been another neurodivergent symptom because the birds were such an ingrained part of what Walmart was to me)
