This tool is perfect for writers to generate illustrations for their adventure and fantasy books! Though part of the fun in reading books is in the reader's imaginations, it's quite intriguing to see what is inside the writers mind when they write their story.

I think most people don’t understand the size of this. Dall-E 2 is incredible! A common misconception is that it combines photos. It does not! As Chris said, it’s like a giant brain. When you tell Dall-E 2 to create an image of a dog wearing a hat, it does NOT take a picture of a dog and one of a hat and combine it with AI into one picture. No, Dall-E 2 knows what a dog is, what its characteristics are and the same for the hat. Then it creates a completely new image based on its knowledge. It’s like when you read the phrase „dog wearing a hat“. You probably saw some sort of picture in your head. The AI does the exact same except its imagination is way more precise. Truly fascinating and a huge step in technology, one of the biggest perhaps.

Yet if you give the same paint and brushes to a gifted artist, you get amazing art. Same materials, very different results. Also, this being a new creative medium, we will almost certainly get whole new categories of creative art, things we haven't even conceived of. Personally, I think tools like this will not stifle the creative mind, but set it on fire.

@@kencarpenter1363 The deathblow to digital artists is the speed at which this produces art. Even if the artist's quality is better, the fact that the AI can spit out dozens of "close enough" concepts in mere seconds is the main advantage. It's similar to why very few people carry, or even own a high quality digital camera anymore. Why, when your phone can take "close enough" pictures, and is way more convenient than hauling a studio quality camera around for just a relatively small increase in quality. There will still be a place for talented artists, but the demand for their services will plummet, just as the demand for stand-alone digital cameras has plummeted, because people will usually choose the quicker and easier route, even at the cost of a bit of quality.

Of course these ideas don't come from nowhere, and they are "inspired" by what humans have already created along similar themes, but I found it really interesting to see, through this lens, what humans associate different concepts with. Having the AI create multiple similar, connected images really highlighted some of the strange assumptions and connections we make as humans, such as the pirate hat and the eyepatch, or the dinosaur being presented mostly as a toy. Thank you so much for making this and sharing it with us! 🧡 P.S. The first jumping dog photo where it wasn't touching the plinth was hilarious, and also showed how the AI took abstract ideas and realised them without a problem! 😂

It will never be able to replicate what you are imagining in your mind on paper, just random suggestions based on that. At best, it will oversaturate the market with mediocre art that has no value because anyone can press a button to generate it. There is value in scarcity. "Random generation" does not belong in art. It takes over 10 years of drawing daily to learn how to perfect art into placing on paper WHAT YOU WANT TO THE SMALLEST DETAIL, not just generate mediocrities that look muddy or photobashed. And as a side point, tech bros are delusional, and this novelty will in the end serve as inspiration for the artists themselves. If you want to learn how to make art, do what the artists do and work your ass off doing the art yourself. Human creation will always be more appreciated than a soulless machine.

@@dsgant1616 while it could always be better and there is room for improvement like anything else it often does produce professional level results. But then occasionally you get back something that's less than desired. With Dall-E 2 everytime you click on that generate button it's a roll of the dice and you never know what you will get. Sometimes it will throw in unexpected details that make your say wow. In my opinion at 13¢ each time you ask it to generate a result it's pretty affordable. And you get back 4 variations each time. If all 4 are good now you're cost is about 3¢ each image! There is a link to sign up to be on the waiting list. If I were to try and paste a link here it likely would get deleted as most KZread channels block links. I will try in a separate comment right after this one to drop that link. If you don't see it then you will just have to search for it.

Oh wow, I knew it had to be better than the mini, but I didn't expect it to look THAT good. Man, I feel like they've bestowed technology from the future to us! That's incredible. Although, I have to wonder like with Artbreeder, how similar is the art produced to read-existing pictures? I'm interested to see the samples for each. I wonder if design is even possible with this or if it would just be stealing from other people's art and designs.

I think we are a bit away from that. Have u ever tried to create a step by step animation?. Each second has at least 24 pictures. They have to flow with almost exact precision. Im talking about every single moving part. There are youtube tutorials on 'walking animations' and these are 30 min - 1 hour. Thats the basic stuff, wait til u get to hair flowing and capes twirling. I cant see this making a movie. but maybe there will be sum 3d model making ai where it understands movement and u can generate storylines
