Funny enough, there actually is a card called Ruby Dragon in the anime, which is just the exact same art as Luster Dragon but colored red. Not even a pose change or anything. There's also Hyozanryu, whose Japanese name is Diamond Dragon, and was even referred to as such in the English dub of GX, even though it had already been printed with the name Hyozanryu before then.

Hyozanryu was also played by Kaiba in Battle City.

Hyozanryu was one of my all time favorite cards as a kid, probably for the art and concept. Making him part of a theme would have been amazing 😊

In Duel Links, Mokuba (DSOD) has a Skill called "Gem Dragon Go!" and looking at it, they really should change the dragons' English names to make it a proper theme. As is, there are only 5 of these Gem Dragons in the game: Sapphire Dragon, Emerald Dragon, Diamond Dragon, Alexandrite Dragon, Labradorite Dragon. I also remember when Daichi Misawa used Carboneddon to special summon Diamond Dragon, because science.

Has there ever been a monster that has something like Diamond Dragon's anime effect? I thought that was prty cool given what order cards are stacked in is seldom relevant.

I like how the m warrior and winged dragon monsters have the colors inverted on the monster and the background color

Another thing about M-Warriors, if you look at "Live Twin Sunny's Snitch", you can see them as content creators.

If anything I think Luster Dragon *should* get a reprint to their original gem names if any deserve it the most.

The english and japanese versions were already different (and still are), Japan still doesn't have any of the Entity cards; so there was never any reason for the Frog the Jam exceptions.

Considering the fact that lately Konami is getting back to old school cards and printing them as retrains/upgrades (whatever u call'em) either as just single cards, or a deck/an archetype like Mementos, Nouvellez(the ritual food deck).. We might end up having a Gem-Dragon archetype, with brand new dragons, and a renaming for the old ones.. At least i hope so haha. Well i say i hope so bcs while writing this text, i just remembered we might not get this bcs Crystal Beast & Gem-Knights exist ?

Really like how it has a unique shape to other Monsters.

That's kind of what happens with Japanese localizations.

I think they should try to make new archetipes, so they can reprint these cards and give them archetipe related names.
