I am an officer and there was a time when I stopped a reported erratic driver. When I made contacts with the individual I saw it was the fire chief for my town. Luckily for me the chief was a stand up man and told me he made a bad choice and would do whatever was needed. Had zero issues at all and even after his arrest ordeal he found me and thanked me for being professional and not attempting to handle things differently. I will remember that forever. Even people with integrity make bad choices it’s all about how you handle it. That encounter could have turned ugly. It is a very difficult position to be in but at the end of the day it is just another person. Can’t handle things in a different manner because of who it is. I understand the fear of the officers though.

When you say shame on them for second guessing, what I saw and was very clear from their discussion, is that they were being extra careful and wanted to do everything by the book given who they are dealing with to avoid having it backfire, i.e. someone shoots a hole in their actions when the situation is scrutinized which they knew it will. They did joke about getting fired, but this only show that despite being aware of the risk, they still took him in. As a police officer, I woulda expected you would know more than anyone what it's like to be in their shoes and actually praise their courage and them doing the right thing, but you're the one second guessing them.

Props to the Sergeant in the first video. Made Sure everyone was fine and talk to his fellow offices through the situation while recording. He should be promoted.

It's a pretty sad world when you have to appreciate that someone's actually properly performing the job they chose.. not sad, pathetic really.

@@sodman4874 the bar is literally in hell. If police arrest someone without needlessly violently assaulting them they get big ups. If they arrest an officer for breaking the law, big ups. It is quite sad and pathetic.

Much respect for those officers. Takes a strong person to go against the grain in such a field.. Soo much corruption.. disgusting how he can threaten them for doing their job.. anyone else would have the book thrown at them. Gad damn he should be absolutely fired and even jail time for corruption..

Man I feel bad for the four officers in the first case. They're just doing their job, arresting someone on suspension of drunk driving which is a very serious thing.

Body worn cameras are the BEST thing that ever happened with law enforcement. Police officers should be respected when they are trying to do their job not bullied by politicians who try to use their entitlement to get out of trouble.

What stupid talk from the police. If I was a cop and got fired for arresting the mayor for DUI, I'd be furious, notifying all the newspapers what happened, then I'd sue the police force for wrongful dismissal. My firing for arresting a very drunk mayor, and the news I'd create, would probably cause my boss to resign the police force in humiliation.

Without cell phone cameras and the internet, we'd be no better off. The ego, integrity and demeanor of a man who carries a badge is a direct reflection of who he is as a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend or neighbor.

Why are cops afraid of politicians? I'd honestly be excited to be the one who told a politician that his position does not absolve him of all crime
