When 14,526 first class runs aren’t enough for Pakistan’s selectors
Спорт
The story of Fawad Alam is a tale of wasted potential. Even though he's been one of Pakistan Cricket's greatest ever domestic batters, his path to Pakistan's test side has been full of ups and downs, many of them out of his control. This video discusses how Fawad's career from his debut to the present time, and shows that perhaps some people don't need to be regular test players after all, to show their true greatness.

It's crazy that misbah replaced fawad, became the captain, retired, became the chief selector and selected fawad

lmao. Only in Pak this kind of random ass illogical crap is possible!
I remember watching him play in Asia Cup final 2014 where he pulled off a hundred against Sri Lanka when Pakistan were 3 down inside powerplay. His moustache and way of playing instantly made me fall in love with his game. But i never saw or heard about him again until the New Zealand series in 2021.

What a wholesome and deserving tribute to an underrated player. I remember Fawad Alam's industrious and stubborn innings against Bangladesh in 2014 Asia cup. We lost to Pakistan that match, but now that I look back, I can appreciate what a heroic batting performance that was by Fawad Alam. True worrior.
Sometimes even these many international runs are not enough for Pakistani selectors lol

one of my favourite quotes of fawad is when he was not given a chance for many years a journalist asked what he thinks of the constant snub. fawad said maybe I will get more fame for playing one year then people do playing the game for 10 years. those words proved prophetic when he came back scored 4 centuries in a year and was part of the ICC test squad 2021.
Been Fawad Alam's fan since he played for Karachi Dolphins and was man of the match in the T20 final, where he scored a 50 and took 5 wickets. Watching it live from the stadium, where he hit Muhammad Asif for 6 was memorable.

The real lover of the game can tell you what Fawad Alam was and what he's capable of. RIP Selectors! Much support for the channel coz you're doing something Unique for real cricket lovers. doing fab work. Big love from Karachi Bro ❤Keep it up 👍
Great insight into Fawad Alam's career, he was one of my favourite cricketers. Sad to see another talent wasted by bias and incompetenance by the selectors.
Watched every ball of the New Zealand rareguard innings in absolute awe on that final day. He deserved more and if Saud Shakeel didnt look every inch of a top class test player I wouldve firmly believed he should be back in the side at this moment. Came across this channel a while back and saw this upload today. Astonishing to see the increase in quality of the videos. Subscribed and will be back for more.
That kid had a real passion for Cricket and his country! I'm not his fan but he was very handy. Thanks for putting the light on it on Fawad Alam's behalf
fawad came back, and made his point. I think he can rest easy. And that moustache is glorious.
What a heart warming tribute you just made for one of our great batters

I can only imagine the immense effort that must have gone into creating this video, from compiling all the stats to digging up old match clips. Kudos to you, my friend! I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this video.
Pakistani cricket team selectors have the reputation of damaging the careers of some fine cricketers. As a cricketer in Pakistan, you would want to have that loud brash personality and hope that you have a large fan following along with records. Quite often players like Shahid Afridi remained part of the team for years despite being perennially inconsistent, just because of massive fan following. Fawad remained classy and quiet through out his career despite having records to back him up, his personality was that of a typical boy from Karachi city, staying reserved and minding his own business, which is not very conducive to any cricketer's career in Pakistan. Amazing video, though, thanks.

I’ve never liked Afridi, and didnt rate him much as a cricketer. But when you go onto Cricinfo and look at his career stats, now that its all said and done, he was actually a decent allrounder. Once he took on that allrounder role, his place was deserved. But as a batter, maybe not. Its crazy if you look at his stats, they’re similar to the English players in white ball cricket.
@f1aziz

@@haychkay3590 Don't get me wrong, I don't deny his career achievements, Afridi was a match winner, he has won matches on his own so many times with his batting and bowling, not to mention he was a gun fielder too. But my critic is, Afridi spent most of time as the top order batsman, he came in very young in the team but he never showed any sign of improvement in his temperament or technique. Those years he spent as a top order batsman are more than most upcoming batsman in Pakistan would get. Most of the batsman have a season or two to perform than they get discarded forever. He stuck around at the top purely because he was massively massively popular. I am not taking a shot at Afridi, like most Pakistani, I was fan too. I am just decrying how inconsistent he was while consistently getting picked and how inconsistent selection policies of Pakistani cricket have always been.

Great video. One thing you could have pointed out was how Fawad (finally) got lucky on comeback after the England series and managed to stay in the team for the New Zealand series, because Babar Azam got injured for that series, which meant there was still a batting spot available, despite Haris Sohail coming back into the squad after pulling out of the England tour due to Covid-19.

Quality content bro. Nice to have found your channel. A definite sub.
Fawad Alam's biggest enemy at this stage is his age (37). At this age, it is expected of you to perform well and contribute to your team's victory. If you lose form at this age, it's really hard to gain it back at the International stage, because there will always be someone younger ready to replace you. Plus the selectors always look for a prospect who can serve the country for a long time. Someone who is young and talented. Investing on a young player can give them 10-15 years of game return. However, continuing with a player like Fawad can only give them a maximum of 2-3 years of return. This becomes more difficult in the case of Fawad because he is already way past his prime.😮
@apex9806

Then they should have kept him from his young years. How the hell can they blame his age when it is in fact their own incompetence and ignorance that did this to his life in the first place.

I know. I am not defending PCB or anyone. PCB is solely responsible for wasting an incredible talent such as Fawad Alam. I am only talking about the reason why he was dropped recently. What happened in the past is a different story altogether but I am trying to reason why he can't be selected anymore in the squad.
@Shreaadedaa

@@uzairqureshi10 no bro thats not why they dropped him this time, our test squad still has a huge middle order problem, overseas tours exposes whole batting quality Pakistan enjoys in asian conditions, PCB need him, but PCB dont let him prove that they were so wrong all those years.

Thank you for paying tribute to Fawad Alam. He's truly a class player, displaying unwavering determination and an insatiable hunger for runs. Yet, his career was marred by a corrupt system and a cricket board tainted by corruption. It's a sad story and I feel for Fawad Alam. I had almost forgotten what Inzamam ul Haq had previously said about him (thank you for the reminder). When he was reappointed as chief selector, I couldn't help but feel uneasy, recalling his questionable selections during his previous tenure.

@6ixandout and everyone a commentator said quite a few years ago that if Pakistan selectors picked their best regardless how poor their backgrounds are they would probably have one of the best sides if not the best, I wonder if this is still true today or have times changed. It's sad this young man had to wait a decade before getting picked again even though he was better than the rest. Great video thankyou.

Awesome video! Can you do one on Sarfaraz Ahmed’s unfair removal of captaincy too?
Love your content
Gotta feel for him.
That’s very sad for fawad. Reminds of so many typical Asian team selections. E.g. Zia ur Rahman from Afghanistan. Having taken the most first class wicket’s for a spinner I think. he still hasn’t represented Afghanistan in any test matches and only made ODI a month back and not seen since then. Corruption is big in all Asian teams 😢

Hello brother. Grt video. By the way, Statsman here
great content.... Fawad is mainly dropped due to the politics that the people of Karachi face mainly Punjab and KPK get the privileges whereas, Sindh and Balochistan are neglected. And people in selection and admin of PCB are from the Punjab and kpk provinces so they never give fair value to sindh or Balochistan players. If u can make a similar video on Asad Shafique And Sarfaraz Ahmed the point i am making will be clear. also make a video on Imran Nazir

Don’t type your stupid agendas everywhere. There is no doubt Fawad was very very harshly treated and all selection committees mainly Inzimam’s are to be blamed for it. But Saud Shakeel replaced Fawad, who is also from Karachi. Asad Shafiq played 78 tests with so little performance. And he was from Karachi. Shan Saud Nauman Abrar And Sarfraz are all from Sindh and played in the last test series so I think there’s enough of this crap talk about discrimination about players from Sindh.
