I watched a video explaining this in over 10 minutes. I didn't retain much. You explained this so much better!

Thank you my guy.
I am a -3.5 guy. This is the best video I have seen about wheels. I wish this was available two years ago when I was wheel shopping. This video is easy to understand and makes sense. When I was researching wheels for my JLUR, there was nothing that was this easy to understand and the people at tire stores were not good at explaining what I needed. This should be a must watch for anyone looking to purchase new wheels that want to make an informed intelligent decision.

Hey I need help ordering the right offset . I have 2009?s550 with 22x9 . The extra rim I ordered is a 22x9 35 offset but it sits to far under the rear it needs to come out at least a inch more . Does that mean I need 45 positive offset
The best explanation on offset I’ve seen Great job
Best explanation!!! Thanks bro🤙🏽 I will be a negative offset person from now on.
This video was EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you.
thanks man i was having trouble with this offset thing i even waste my money buying a set that is way way way out from the car so thanks teacher this is how easy teaching n learning should be
Kick Ass Video! I've been studying wheels today and your video is right on time!
Superbly explained. I am negative offset person 😮👍🏻
Best explanation so far
Great job, you made that simple. How does offset effect wear and tear on the vehicle?

Appreciate the kind words, greater offset will increase wheel bearing and ball joint wear.
Thanks for the video and knowledge, Best explanation
Great to the point content. Much appreciated
This was super helpful. Thanks broski💪💪💪💪💪
great video straight to the point
You left out a huge item which is the scrub radius, scrub radius is tied directly to offset, it can affect the vehicles handling in a positive or a negative way depending on the offset of the wheel. That big 22 x 14 wheel will not fit any vehicle without major lift being done to it. I just put new rims and tires on my 2023 Tacoma replacing the factory 16 in steel rims with 17 inch aluminum rims and one of my major considerations are maintaining the factory scrub radius.
what I want to see explained is, if I'm looking at a 20x9 0mm offset, how do you know whether that wheel and subsequent tire combination (275/60R20) would work on your particular vehicle. If you are going from a stock wheel with 6" of backspace (+45 mm offset on a 18x7.5 wheel - 255/70R18 tire), is there any danger in rubbing by going to a 9" wheel and a bigger tire that is pushing the wheel and tire away from the components? I don't think there is, but at the same time I have read that it's not always the case that it wouldn't cause rubbing issues.
Super simple explanation. Thanks for the video

Joseph Z thank you for watching. Hope it helped a little bit.
Explained perfectly
When you are buying rims you have to remember a couple things the numbers the tire and the rim. If they will fit your car don’t spend a whole Lotta money you might buy the wrong rims for your car I made that mistake plenty of times but now I know better just a word of advice

Great explanation!! Thank you
Great video short sweet to the point. 🥂🥳🥳
For my sports luxury Acura TLX SH-AWD I’m a positive offset yet for my pickup truck I’m a negative offset 😅
Is a good video if you knew how to apply this to buying new after market rims. I have called Nissan for help(none) he was oil chg guy. Guy where I wanted the new rims, said my tires would be on the flat side. Did not offer if I could buy larger width tire to still have the roundness. Have 225/55/19 rims on my 19' Rogue and can't find seller that can tell me if rim is a true fit and also highway safe. Hoped this would explain but not a wheel person, think my factory rims are negative? LOL Won't be buying new rims soon. Thanks for the help but sure it helped others.
thank you so well explained
Awesome explanation!
Great explanation thank you
Thank you… That’s so detailed
That helped a lot, thanks
Did I hear correctly? The two strut assemblies need to be swapped from one side to the other? What is the reason for this?
And now I know. Well done
Does a wheel spacer push the vehicle away from the wheel if there is a positive offset?
👍 explains
I’m late but I have a question….. my stock wheels 16x8 30+ offset. I just brought 22x9 20+ offset. Wouldn’t that be a perfect fit offset???
Good tutorial. I have a 2009 Challenger R/T with OEM 20×8 rims with 24 offset. I wanted to replace them with 20×9 rims with 25.5 offset. Would it cause problems, or would spacers do the trick?
I have a cAR the tyre is 185/70/r14 .THE (et) OF THE WHEEL 45. RIM WIDTH 6. and i want to change it to r17/45/215, RIM WIDTH 7 but i dont know how to know the (ET)of the new wheel . please i need your help
So I bought some wheels 20x9 18mm offset but the guy said they were - 18mm but looks like it's positive now I'm afraid it will rub
Thanks a lot sir 🙏🙏🙏🙏,
I have 2 types of rims, one type are 45 and the others are 65 and there is nothing positive or negative written on them.
Im trying to figure out what offset I need to fit 6 piston Brembo Brakes. I think I would need a positive offset to give the brakes enough space, right? But how much offset is the question.
I have a 2020 tundra. In my research I've learned that the Tundra factory wheels I'm running have a +50 offset. I want a lil poke (maybe a couple in.) But am unsure of what to go with as some of pics I've seen with +20 wheels seem to still poke out some. Idk what to do and am going blind from looking at so many wheels...please help
So what is back spacing? I ordered a RK Pro No limits 3 inch lift kit for my JTR and it recommends 3.5” of back spacing.
Negative offset is my vibe
So far the best explanation but still lacking. What's needed is using same dimensions of a 3 wheels Eg 17/9 and each having the positive negative and zero offsets.. Then with a practical example each wheel iss mounted on the same car so we see how it fits. We can then see how the 3 types of offset looks when mounted on the vehicle..
Sir, if my OEM Mercedes factory rims have a 37mm and I want to replace them with OEM Mercedes rims with 52mm offset do I need spacers? If so, how much of a spacer do I need to use?
Would a positive 10 be flush or stick out a tad? I’m thinking of positive 10 on 33 nitto grapplers. I want my rubber to stick out .5inch to 1”

My OEM Alloy wheels are 18 x 8 ET 50, and winter Steel wheels are 16 x 16.5 ET 42. Since my winter wheels are at ET 42 compared to OEM of ET50, I am going to a Negative Offset as 42 is smaller than 50. We need to consider the Wheel Diameter or Size. The car's original wheel is size 18 with a tire width of 8. I am downsizing for winter to provide better traction through deep snow which is more than a dusting or less than 1 inch of snowfall. All-Season tires do not handle well in areas that get large accumulations of snow. A car wheel should only go Up or Down 2 sizes which is recommended as any greater change in size should consult a Professional ( since I have 18 that would be a size 20 or 16). The use of spacers/ washers may contribute to steering issues and is not recommended for safety reasons. The general rule of thumb is to keep your Offset as close to the original wheel offset. It has been indicated you are allowed an offset difference of +/- 5mm to avoid any complications. The maximum should not be greater than +/- 10mm. Please note that you may find changing wheel sizes that the Offset you require or desire may not be available and that is usually related to changing Alloy for Steel rims. Steel wheels/rims do not come in a large variety of Offset (ET) numbers like Alloy wheels. You also need to keep Tire Revolutions close to how the auto manufacturer built your car. My 18 x 8 ET 50 tire is 235/40R18 and the winter steel 16 x 16.5 ET 42 tire is 215/55R16 which is not a low-profile tire like the 18-inch. Going to the smaller size wheel gives me One more inch of Sidewall height. Because the wheel and tire are of smaller size, it does not protrude outward nor does it come close to the strut or wheel assembly components. But you have to keep in mind that Wheel Offset can affect whether the wheel can be mounted and clear your Brake Caliper.
-ve Off set gives aggressive lOOks
Negotorie ghost rider
Negative all the way
So should a person measure the mounting hub of the vehicle (car) to the fender to see how much the wheel won't poke out too far?
@dr.deathwobble4899
4 ай бұрын
You could measure from the mounting hub. But, what might be much easier for you is to determine the offset of the current wheels on the vehicle then adjust from there. ie: if your factory wheels are 12mm offset, anything lower numerically will poke further out. For reference-12mm would be 24mm out further
