WHATS IN THE BOX? VINTAGE 1976 ITALAERI 120 1/76 JUNKERS JU-86 E1/E2. KIT REVIEW No 53.

Ойын-сауық

VIDEO RE-UPLOADED DUE TO ACCIDENTAL DELETION.
I hope you enjoy this video. This is my fifty THIRD "WHATS IN THE BOX" kit review and I hope to be completing this model when i have the necessary skills to do it the justice it deserves in a bout 10 years time. I have a model collection/stash of 33-40 1/72 Spitfires which i am currently building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow KZreadrs, As my competence levels are not sufficient to complete this model it will be held in reserve for when i deem the time is right. If you would like to see the of 33 Spitfires there is a link to my collection below. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic KZread skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.
Follow me on my novice modelling journey whilst I try desperately to overcome my midlife crisis. Questions and suggestions always welcome. Please like and subscribe and follow me on my ride!

Hi Andy. This kit falls into the catagory 'of its age'. The first clue is how the manufacturers name is spelt. You may well have some fit issues because Italeri were at the bottom end of the quality tree back in the 70's. But they were cheap for what you got. Not bad when you think of it. But it does have potential if your willing to do some scratchbuilding. I know that you don't do that yet but give it a go. Start small, replace a littl part and see how you go. The wheel well interiors are a good place to start. Just some plastic strip will look good. I hope that you enjoy it though. A good old kit me thinks. Good luck with this one.

LOL its an old kit, its untidy, ill fitting and temperamental. just like its owner LOL. Scratch building will happen i am sure, just like a lot of the other things k njhvg vifydfe5w4q41(that was the cat walking across the keyboard LOL) I am just having to take these things one step at a time. its an interesting plane that i was unfamiliar with when i bought it, itll get built at some point.

Back in the day when you could still put a swastika on a model box.

LOL i bought the Tamiya 35354 1/35 wehrmacht tank crew from Amazon a few months ago, the decal set had been removed and had the tankers Deaths Head symbol cut out and the same symbol had been felt tipped over on the box.

Typical old Italeri kit with simplified details and fit issues. Still, a decent representation of the real thing. Get the LF Models canopy mask set unless you want to indulge your masochistic impulses.

It'll be a while before this sees some glue and paint though will probs think about trying these canopy masks out shortly.

I've built this, and as I remember that lower turret cannot be in lowered position like in the box art with landing gear down. If you put that turret out with wheels down then the tail wheel will not touch ground,it will be in the air a few millimeters because of that turret,so that turret must be inside when landing gear is down.

Cheers thats good to know, i have enough trouble with wobbly landing gears and finding they are uneven on the ground as it is.

I thiiiiiiink that I built the later boxing, the one with "proper" boxart, needles to say she's on my shopping list, just like their Ju 52's! Nostalgia can be....sorry, nostalgia IS expensive! 😉😆😂

Well i am having a mid life crisis as the channel name suggests, and its mostly based on revisiting my youth building models, though with an adults wallet, so you are very correct that nostalgia is expensive LOL. I suppose it is quite possible that in a couple of years i will want to buy cars, chase girls, drink beer and try illicit substances, I'll be in my fifties then so that will probably make an interesting KZread channel also PMSL. You are right about the box art, i use a website called Scalemates to identify the "genealogy" of the kits i buy and this one got a new box nearly every year.

@TheNoviceModeller Well, I'm 55 so I've got....ahum....couple of years on you there! Growing up in Sweden in 70's and early 80's I had Airfix, Matchbox, Esci, Heller, Monogram and Italeri, I don't remember if FROG was gone by then, never built them but I still will get a few for the boxart.... Still remember the smell of that Humbrol glue and those paints! AMT and Monogram squeezed through a few cars as well....😆😂

I do quite like the vintage kits and the slightly more obscure aircraft, Interestingly i have a few Svenska aircraft on the way an FFVS 22a and a SAAB J21A will soon be joining my collection of aircraft.

@TheNoviceModeller Got to love the J22 and J21.... True, have a soft spot for vintage kits as well! It's a shame that they're not putting out more aircraft from the Golden Era....needless to say, I preordered Airfix new 1/48 Bristol Bulldog! 😁😎

Got to be honest i had never heard of either until a few days ago, somebody mentioned the SAAB as it is a pusher like the Shinden i have just done, the Ebayer selling that also had the J22 and a few other interesting kits so i got them. Got to admit the SAAB does look very nice
