The director of Frontiers confirmed that both Infinite and Mephiles might return. So if Infinite returns, hope both him and Ian Flynn can make him not only a good villain but a good character

Given the demand for Infinite to return and the fact that he popped up in Speed Battle recently, its very likely that SEGA will revive him just as they brought back Shadow. You can’t keep a popular character dead forever, if you do, you’ll upset the fans. When SEGA brought back Shadow after Sonic Adventure 2, they did that out of love for their fans and to make them happy. Whatever comes next, SEGA will be striving to meet the fans’ expectations regardless of the odds. If they were to bring back Mephiles, of course they’d do so, if and when Infinite returns, SEGA will figure it out. Forces may have been a dud, but Infinite has his fans.

Oh no, I love his design and asthetic. I just hate how he was written in Forces, he just seems like a p u s s y more than a capable bad guy like everything thing else was leading us to believe. I would love for Sonic Team to give him another shot but other than Speed Battle, I really don't think they're going to touch him again. Yet they continuosly reuse the Deadly Six for whatever reason so I REALLY don't know. Sonic Team are a weird bunch.

@@TVGN20000 Headcanon: Infinite’s backstory in Episode Shadow is all in Shadow’s head and from his point of view, regarding the jackal as pathetic in his eyes out of his own arrogance. They’ll have to retcon that backstory for Infinite to be taken seriously considering how that one sandbagged him as an antagonist.

For future Sonic the Hedgehog series, I want Infinite (former Jackal Squad leader; the Ultimate Mercenary) to return with amnesia (similar to Shadow the Ultimate Lifeform). Just to try something different for Infinite.

i mean idk about neo, seems unlikely for eggman to do it except if he's sure metal is under control, but yeah metal knuckles is very possible, which he came back more and not just in superstars

The Phantom Ruby wasn't destroyed, the story continued in the encore mode of Sonic Mania. After Classic Sonic disappears, he and the Phantom Ruby are sent back to a jungle through a portal similar to the one at the end of the main game, which is what sent the Phantom Ruby and Classic Sonic into Modern Sonic's world in Forces. Classic Sonic then frees either Ray or Mighty, depending on which one you choose, and the other is the magician hard boiled heavy (whatever they're called). In the end, after Eggman and the final boss are defeated again, the Phantom Ruby creates a portal and sucks Eggman into it, and Sonic, Mighty and Ray escape. So it pretty much means Sonic Team can bring it back if they want to.

Why does everybody forget about Sonic Mania Plus!? Encore Mode takes place after Sonic Forces, since we have Classic Sonic return to his dimension. And along with Sonic, the Phantom Ruby returned with him. The True Ending of Encore Mode even has the Phantom Ruby create another portal and this time takes Classic Eggman with him. Did nobody play this DLC?

So Infinite is alive (probably)

So with that being said, Infinite is like somewhat trapped within the Phantom Ruby, Well at least whoever the entity is from within with a self-conscious, But i don't think the Phantom Ruby is like destroyed, Maybe it got transported to either another dimension or some place where no one can easily find it cause since when did Sega ever made some crazy superpowered diamonds or stones destructable unlike the time with a fake chaos emerald in SA2? But if it also comes back i wonder how will this affect Infinite's character for someone who is imprisoned in the Phantom Ruby for who knows how long? It be pretty interesting if There was a new antagonist interested in the Phantom Ruby's power while showing more of it's power to what it can do, Plus if Sonic were to somehow travel through the Phantom Ruby, This is where he would encounter Infinite again, Or at least something like that unless the Phantom Ruby finally decides to release Infinite for it's own reason.

@@UCWShadow It's not the same with Mephiles, First of all we don't know in what kind of dimension Infinite has been sent to and where the Phantom Ruby is now since it's not even destroyed, Without counting the fact that Eggman is the main classic antagonist for Sonic, Did you know in IDW comics Eggman was gone until the Phantom Ruby decided to somehow brought him back but his memories were erased? If that is the case then it's likely that Infinite is not dead. Second of all, Mephiles is the only character that would never come back because the space and time shifts with everything that happened because of Mephiles being the mastermind to become one with Iblis on Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, As many proclaims to be, Everything that happened because of Mephiles never happened when the trio hedgehogs defeated him in his Solaris form from both Past, Present and Future and as it destroyed Mephiles and Iblis, They ceased to exist with no way to come back so it's like saying this Sonic game is really not canon compare to most several games that happened because otherwise, Blaze would of been dead with no other way to come back, But thankfully as the whole thing never happened, She is still Alive.

That’s what I like to know. I thought he’d be like Mephiles that was tried to be sealed but broke the seal. Everybody characteristics is so messed up in forces even the final boss fight it’s pathetic and corny and the same thing from colors.

Well I think he does and he should either be redeemed as a villian and stay with the bad guys or get redeemed in general and joins the good guys.

I want to see Infinite again. He’s such a loyal boy. I would like to see him without his ruby. And that ugly mask haha.

A reworked Infinite, no Phantom Ruby and maybe no mask, would be perfect as a player character for a “Dark Story” path like Adventure 2. Maybe make him a full on cyborg or something. Make him a permanent member of Eggman’s team. Play as him and Metal Sonic. Like what Shadow was in the second half of Sonic X but never in the games after Adventure 2. Idk who could be a third member. Oh those Skunks from the comic Rough and Tumble (?) and as it’s 2023 as I’m writing this, *maybe* Surge could be playable with them too. I kinda want another Rush game. Have multiple boost characters. Sonic, Blaze, Shadow, Metal, Surge and maybe Silver with a psychokinetic energy boost. And if they bring Infinite back give him a boost. Like Eggman gave him the same tech as Metal.

Wait I just realized Infinite’s power is making hyper realistic virtual reality constructs… Infinite’s power is literally creepypasta power

Or well, that's what it should've been, it would've made him into an actual threat. Like imagine if he pulled the Tails doll or Sonic.Exe (as a nod) but that would've been terrifying lol. Yet all he did was make 3D models of characters and have them run at Sonic's army doing nothing.

Before I thought infinite was real in the shadow story in forces when infinite disappears I thought he was a illusion so this makes so much sense

If he were too be in the sonic movies the writers of those movies would make more menacing and threatening and honestly I could see Liam Neeson being the voice of infinite in the sonic movie franchise that would be awesome if he was in the movies plus it will be a ultimate comeback for the character and have so much potential to be so much better developed and so much better written

Now with the sonic frontiers teaser, have u seen the parts where sonic fight against a "titan"? that thing seems to have some red - glitch particles that look very similar to infinite powers..

It’s interesting that Infinite now is kinda seen as the butt of many jokes in terms of Sonic villains.

& then there's Encore mode.

Ariel and Scuttle (from The Little Mermaid) reaction of Infinite the Jackal disappearance. *Ariel:* Is he... dead? *Scuttle:* It's hard to say.

It does say that's the phantom ruby, though. Eggman and Tails have a conversation in the cutscene right before the last battle that confirms it's in the robot. Also, it's not that bad of a game. The story feels a little rushed, Amy and Tails don't have much personality, but its fun and actually functions (which is rare in sonic 3D games)

And make him playable.

I feel like when he says "no wait i can fight" the phantom ruby is unstable and absrbs him in a breakable seal. If he is to return i believe eggman breaks him out not to try again because infinite will go rougue. Creating his own army and having eggman be the accomplice and he calls the shots. A whole new army world for an amzing game.

I always thought infinite died. Because his ruby was destroyed and that was his only source of power and since it was destroyed I thought it was destroyed along with infinite which is why he goes to the sky. He broke apart but maybe not

I hope the Sonic Encyclo - speed - ia book is available in the place where I live, because I really want to get it. Also I like how the background is gameplay of Sonic’s schoolhouse.

wait considering the ruby is a cristal and was actully found in the ground were sonic got bitched slaped out of his super form by knuckles. could there theoretically be more. we know that there are prototypes too that exist. they say it was destroyed but mabey like what happened in the game. eggman and infinite himself could have gotten it wrong. hell even in sonic frontiers the same visual effects can be seen with the red and black pixely type effects on the main villain and on the robots. its not exact but its damn near close. idk if thats true because i yet to play the game but from what i have seen, the color pading is similer. my main point is that i dont think that the ruby is gone. they could be really rare to find but i dont think that there was just 1 even though we don't know of its creation

That's what I thought at some point, but I think it's half right. I think what they wanted us to think was since he was fazing in and out of reality, that he simply just faded away as a side effect of his Phantom Ruby being destroyed.

Maybe Infinite retreated and used the Phantom Ruby to infect the world with COVID in 2020.

I better to burn Canon book of Sonic from Sega in campfire then read it as Sonic's canon is broken. About infinite - he is underrated antagonist. He could be better if only Sega made the good storyline, then that sh...t in Forces
