I just finished my first year of Mod Lite racing. Everything you said was spot on. That first race is very intimidating. But all of the drivers I race with, were very helpful, and very supportive. I ran at the bottom of the track, staying out of their way and learning. I'm looking forward to next season.

Hell yeah! It’s nice to have those competitors that will help get people started in the right direction. Hope your season next year goes just as well or better!

In the Scottish series. All new racers have to start at the back for the first season. Even if you quality on pole .

Yeah, that’s pretty common in most places, at least until the race control has seen your race craft enough to understand you won’t wreck. Hopefully you can get out there soon!

What is a FZ20? I see people mentioning those being expensive and new. But what makes them better? Only thing I’ve noticed was the motor sounds different and the roll bars aren’t square tube anymore

I'm not sure about an FZ20, but Legend cars moved from the 1200/1250 program to the Fz/Mt09 platform. They tend to be 'better' over the 1250 platform because they're water-cooled and require rebuilds less frequently due to the difference in operating temperatures.

no such thing, theres a fz07, fz09, and fz10 and thats it...09 is all thats used in these cars. They make 10hp less than a 1250 but are much engines that dont heat soak as bad and hold the power, plus no carbs to deal with

Is there ever an age range for Legends Car Racing?

  • @RacingAndrewLee

As far as I know, the only restriction is you have to be at least 10 years old to compete in a legend car. There is no cap for age.

See the us legends car website. I've been looking into this as well. The 10-11 racers have to have prior experiences.. this is an excerpt from their page. "Since its inception, the Legend Car has raced across the Untied States and on six continents on asphalt and dirt ovals, as well as road courses! Drivers are able to begin racing a Legend Car at 10 years old with two years of approved racing experience, with anyone 12 years or older able to drive regardless of racing experience!"

buying used is the way...only an idiot would buy a new one with as cheap as nicely setup ones are ready to go with lots of parts in fz09 or 1250 style, especially considering the shipping, taxes, and painting that push it to $20k+...or you can even buy a refurbished one under $9k from the company that builds them fully checked over and ready to go from US Legends Cars

Yeah, I’m not sure that id ever buy new, but I know people who sell off their cars every year and get new ones. Just depends on people’s preferences and if they want to spend the money. New shit doesn’t beat knowledge 95% of the time, but combining them would be pretty hard to beat.

Yea except you can't even find decent used ones under 15k now lol the lowest I've seen em the last 3 months is around 17 to 18k used and if there cheaper there in realy poor shape

I never understood how paying 25k to 30k for a gokart was affordable racing lmao i could build a pretty sweet sbc and turbo 400 for that and find a full size dirt track car in perfect condition for that back in the 90s when they only costed 10k i could see it but no way im paying 30k for somthing that costed 10k to build motor and all its also why there no where near as popular as they used to be because the people who bought them out are crooks
