Dr. Hyman. Really like your broken brain series. You've caused me to think more critically about many aspects of my life, specifically my diet. I appreciate your functional medicine approach. As consumers, we need to educate ourselves and make choices that reflect our understanding of the impact food has on our bodies and the planet. Unfortunately, shopping in big grocery stores makes this more difficult because most packaged products are produced with lots of preservatives, chemicals, hidden sugars and most of us are unaware of what the impact on the environment is. I think the next cultural shift will be what you are talking about.....warning labels on dangerous foods, consumers choosing foods that are healthy and support their understanding of the greater impact on the planet. Thank you for your commitment and passion around educating the public on healthy living.

Thank you Dr. Hyman! This was excellent and thought provoking. I have said many times that the problem with our political debates about healthcare is that everyone is arguing about WHO IS GOING TO PAY for all of this treatment but no one is stopping to ask why are 85% of our healthcare expenditures in the US going to preventable, chronic diseases? It isn't just a question of finance...it is about quality of life. I hope this message will spread and change will come. Too many people in the US and beyond are suffering needlessly.

Brilliant! Dr. Hyman is probably the clearest, least sensationalistic purveyor of the truth about health and the complete upside downness of our so called food and health systems in our world. His message is right on the money and we the people must insist upon his ideas being implemented. Our very existence and quality of life depend upon it. Is that not worth it?

I finally found an answer to my health and weight problems after 23 years of searching for an answer. When I eat really healthy - I feel energized, gone is the depressed feeling and bloat and the cravings for "junk" food which was making me feel so horrible all the time. I really read labels. If the ingredients sound bizarre and I cannot pronounce most of them. They are off my grocery list immediately - even if they are deemed "natural" or "healthy". It isn't as easy as just walking in and buying what I know. I now think about what all these previous foods have done to my life, to the planet, to my brain. I now believe that it is possible for me to actually live to be a 100...at least that is what I am aiming for!!

I usually eat organic vegan homemade foods made from real ingredients. One time I had half a bag of potato chips for dinner. The next day I felt so extremely tired like never before. That was an eye opener. Now, only wholesome foods on my plate!

Sugar attaches to iron in the red blood cell and starves it of oxygen so it dies. You feel very tired and weak. They regenerate every 3 months.

Did Dr Rangan Chatterjee come to the US? I think he did before presenting similar to the UK by focusing on families in his patient list. I'm sure there's a certain amount of hollywood/TV magic but, it's really good to see GPs, guys like you addressing some of this. Thank you, we/some of us are headed in the right direction. You're making it be more people!
