What Would Melkor The Dark Lord Of The First Age Do With The One Ring?

What Would Melkor The Dark Lord Of The First Age Do With The One Ring?
Subscribe: → @ReamsRevealed-vt5mg
Welcome back to Realms Revealed, the channel where we explore the lore and history of Middle-earth and beyond. In today's video, we will answer an intriguing question from Tolkien's legendarium: What If Melkor Encountered the One Ring?
Melkor, also known as Morgoth, was the most powerful of the Ainur, the angelic beings who participated in the creation of the world. He was the first to rebel against the will of Eru Ilúvatar, the supreme deity, and sought to dominate and corrupt everything that existed. He was the master of evil, the enemy of the Valar, the gods who ruled over the world, and the source of all the woes and sorrows of the Children of Ilúvatar, the Elves and Men.
The One Ring, also known as the Ruling Ring, the Master Ring, and Isildur's Bane, was forged by Sauron, the Dark Lord of the Second and Third Ages, and the greatest servant of Melkor. Sauron made the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, in the land of Mordor, to enhance his own power and to control the other Rings of Power, which he had helped to create for the Elves, the Dwarves, and the Men. The One Ring was imbued with a great part of Sauron's own essence, and it granted him immense might and influence, but also made him vulnerable, for if the Ring was destroyed, so would be his power.

    i think you underestimate Melkor, in the SIlmarillion we are told that Melkor has in a sense 'diminished' himself by allowing his power to flow into his minions making them stronger, this was done as a method of CONTROL over them, he would probably keep the ring just to torment Sauron for failing to be as powerful as himself because that is his way.

    I thought that before Mekor was locked out of the universe he gave much of his power to Sauron, in order that his servant might one day bring him back. Sauron in turn put into the ring the power and will, and when it was unmade in mount doom, they ruined themselves. Otherwise Mekor would have regained all his strength and controlled the other rings and their owners, should he have come back and claimed the one ring. Just my thoughts from reading the Silmarillion.

    What would have done Ungoliant if she had found out about the ring? And there is a possibility that Morgoth would dominate the will of the ring as well because he is the greater evil and it is the battle of evil wills rather that the powers of the two evil lords. And it was the evil nature of the Morgoth that corrupted Sauron not the visa versa.

    This is true, but they were made with ring-lore that had its magic source in Sauron, so while they weren’t able to be dominated by the One Ring, their power was still tied to the One Ring. The One was the source of all the Rings of Power’s magic.

    I would say that even with Morgoth thrust out of the world, Sauron was still his servant. Sauron never repudiated or rebelled against Morgoth. In any case, Sauron's ring would have been no threat to Morgoth, since Sauron's power was derived from Morgoth and Sauron was bound tightly to, and under, Morgoth by unbreakable vows to him. Possibly Morgoth if he returned would have claimed the Ring from Sauron (just as Sauron held the rings of the 9); in any case Sauron would not have tried to withhold it from Morgoth, he would have had no will or power to do so. Sauron never could be any match for Morgoth.

    Morgoth would just submit the one ring to his own power... Either through a ring or magical artefact of his own... Hence controling Sauron and his will of power at the same time. All benefits to Melkor indeed... He would be very pleased with the one ring as a way to ensure Sauron's loyalty to him too.

  • @hbreckenridge
    @hbreckenridgeАй бұрын

    Well...Since Melkor's sole goal of his existence is to corrupt everything in Arda, he would definitely seek to corrupt the ring and bend it to his will. Also, since Melkor is the most powerful Ainur in all of Ea, I expect he would not only dominate the ring but he would also use it to his benefit. Otherwise he would just destroy it and possibly destroy it's maker along with it. Remember: Melkor's only goal is to corrupt, control, and dominate.

    I think melkor would take the ring for himself and use it to control the other users. It adds powerful weapons to his army. I don’t think the ring could dominate him, as Sauron’s will doesn’t compete with melkors. It’s an interesting topic but I think it has a pretty boring answer tbh. I don’t think he’d be mad at Sauron either unless Sauron created it in secret from him

  • @rayeasom

    Melkor wouldn’t need the ring. The ring was made by Sauron, pouring his malice into it. Sauron was a subordinate to Melkor, a lesser being. Why would Melkor need something which he would view as a trinket. The ring would have as much sway over Melkor as it did over Tom Bombadil.
