I've never even been close to a goose, but I was slightly bitten by an ostrich once.
5 years old I was. The geese were many. To quote the Chicano Anon, "I do not like your cobra chickens."
One time i was feeding the geese when I was maybe 10 or 11 and they trusted me to the point where one was eating out of my hand. Then this other goose got out of the water and walked towards me and scared the goose that was eating out of my hand and that goose slapped me with its wings. I was assaulted by a goose
This question is amazing
Really, really liked this one. More of these random yet kinda wholesome ones please!
I lived on a farm with a bunch of grey geese. We had a large tomato harvest, and I picked two large crates of tomatoes one day. I set the crates on the ground in the driveway, went in my house to cool off, and took a nap. When I came back out, the geese had eaten bites out of many of the tomatoes, pooped all over the driveway, and since they ate red tomatoes it looked like a murder scene. It was funny but I was PISSED. Geese are jerks!
Not my story, but my father's. When he was a little boy visiting his cousin on a farm, he got chased by a goose. He was a city boy from Newark and didn't know what to do. His cousin was laughing and told him to get out of the way. He dove to the side and his cousin picked up a big stick and smacked the goose HARD across the face. It stumbled, shook itself, staggered a bit, then wandered off. Dad STILL doesn't like geese, and it's been over 70 years!
I haven't even had an encounter with a goose, and these people have these crazy stories. I respect it.
Cobra chickens… evil creatures
In middle school our field geese would attack us because their eggs were all over. I refused to go out after attacked 4 times. Geese (4), Kid (0).
There is a reason you can use geese as a guard animal
Feeding the Canadian geese at a lake in an apartment complex once, and the damn things started coming after me for more food. And Canadian geese are freaking huge - scared the shit out of me. Never again lol. :)
Goose: Peace was never an option.
I've been attacked by a sand hill Crane which are endangered.
I have the bad encounters with geese who don’t fear cars. You literally have to drive around these motherfuckers they will not move.
Hahahah I'm surprised that I haven't seen this before
The fact that this is a whole question thread on reddit 😂
I like how geese are so despised by people that a whole thread is made asking for our worst encounters with these spawns of satan
One time (years ago) I was visiting my godparents near Las Vegas and they took me to a local pond to feed the ducks and geese some bread (this was well before I found out bread is extremely bad for water birds) Long story short, I ended up getting bit by a goose. No blood, but it definitely hurt. Nowadays I frequently get the side eye from a family of Canadian geese that live near a local pond.
You don’t tease the wildlife. Some will get even
when i lived in Peterborough Ontario Canada, there are train tracks in the middle of town only twice daily used by Quaker Oats, by the No Frills downtown, i was trying to cross the bridge there had to be 50 ducks just standing there, plotting... i saw them they saw me, i said i am just going through, they chased me , the drunk homeless people watched and laughed, i said to them, they will come for you as well! save your selfs , i ran and got my groceries, i had to pass through them again, but this time, i some how didnt get bitten again, just my groceries , little monsters!
I have 2 Chinese geese to protect my hens. They are awesome.
Not really a bad encounter, but a kinda funny one. One summer, I was playing Pokemon GO by a college that I went to and by the IT building, there was a Canadian Goose that was very vocal. I think maybe he saw his reflection in the window or the door and that surprised him, so that's why he was honking a lot, but it's still a mystery.
Not my story, but I saw a gif of a flock of white geese and one was in hot pursuit of a horse, head down and neck outstretched all the way, clearly intending to bite the horse. It bit the horse his hind leg and then the horse drew back said leg and kicked the goose FULL in the face, sending it backwards into a ball of feathers and having clearly ended it's entry to life.
Hahaha, I really needed the good laughs today.
Anyone else think of Bill Engvall's story?
This is the shit I’m looking for 💀🪿
