    I have had a veiled chameleon for around 4 years now and watching your videos has helped me so much. When I first got my chameleon I did a lot of research, but am learning that it was a lot of misinformation. Your videos have really helped me better understand the species and make changes to my chameleons living situation.

    Not if you want to place is directly on top of the enclosure. A T5 10.0 would produce too much UVB for a 48" tall enclosure for a veiled chameleon. I would still recommend a T5 5.0 if you do not own a solar meter. I’d suggest buying your UVB bulb online so you can get the correct T5 6%. The T8s are older tech and don’t penetrate as far into the enclosure. I’d also recommend using the Solar Basking Lamp but you can also get an incandescent heat bulb from Home Depot/Lowe’s and that would be cheaper and work just fine.

    The heat bulb wattage will be dependent on how far away your enclosure is. I'd recommend using a 60-75W bulb and see what temperatures that gives you. The Reptisun T5 is a great option and is used by tons of keepers just make sure you use the 5.0 strength. My veiled chameleon is about 14 months old. I was using the incorrect lighting system up to two months ago. My set up is not what you recommend but this is the best I could do for now until I move to a bigger apartment. My screened cage is 18“ x 18“ x 36“. My UVB light is called Zilla slimline tropical fixture and It includes tropical 25 UVB T8 and is 18 inches long. The fixture has a plastic lens over the light I know from watching your videos that the UVB cannot penetrate glass and I’m guessing plastic too. I removed the lens. Was that the right thing to do? I think it came with the lens because it shows a picture over the fixture over an 18 inch long glass fish tank type tank with a open top with no screen. I think it’s made this way so nothing could get into the light fixture like small Anoles lizards. I do have the correct heat bulb.

  • @NeptunetheChameleon

    @NeptunetheChameleon
